As promised, I was at the gate before the hour was up, riding a palomino mare that I'd purchased shortly before coming to the City. Smiling to the guards, I rode through and waited for Damien just outside the gate, enjoying the air as well as the certian freedom.

I rode my bay mare through the city and to the gates, a saddle pack filled with a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, a cut of cheese, a palate of meat and two glasses within it. Dressed in browns and blacks I noticed Mirielle waiting for me.
"I know, I'm late." I teased apon reaching her and her mount.

"That's ok, I'll have my men beat you later," I teased back as I grinned, seated side-saddle on my mare. "Alright, I'll follow you - where to, cousin?"

"You have men?" I asked kicking my horse forward and moving past her. "Now I've only been told about this spot, so hopfully I can find it." I called out.

"You never know," I teased as I rode off after him. My mare wanted to go faster than I would allow, and I had to keep her head reigned in. Months in the City would do that though, I supposed, no matter how well she was trained for a Ladies horse. "What are we looking for?" I asked as I drew up beside him, looking out across the landscape.

"If I was worried, I wouldn't have come," I teased back as I followed suit, keeping my horse half a pace behind his to give him an unobstructed view of the countryside. "Is your horse as restless as mine?" I called out as I rode.

I grinned, patting my mare on her neck. Her head was curved under beautifully, making the crest of her neck bend at a graceful angle. For the time I rode in silence, taking the opportunity to enjoy seeing nothing but nature infront of us, wild and free, and so unlike what I'd gotten used to in the City.

There was silence, but I kept it enjoying the sun on my face and the soft breeze in the air. I noticed a sign of where we were going and followed. "This way Mirielle." I called out to her switching directions.

I reigned my mare and followed him, urging her forth a little more so I wasn't quite as far behind to make conversation easier. "It's gorgeous out here," I said, grinning at him in undisguised delight.

"A couple of times," I answered, smiling at him as we rode. "It's been a long time, though; I know the country around my estate far better than the one around the City."

I nodded. "How far have you ventured around the city?" I asked curiously, both watching for signs of our destination and listening to Mirielle and enjoying our ride.

"Oh, I don't know," I responded, looking at him with a smile as I tried to capture my wind-tossed hair. "A fair bit, but I was always with someone who knew where they were going. I've never really explored before. How about you, Damien?"

I raised a brow. "Is that a crack at my skills." I teased. I looked around for a moment then back at her. "Not in the time that I've been here. I've mostly been walking around the city, trying to get my barings."

I looked at him in confusion for a couple seconds before laughing. "No, actually, I didn't mean it like that at all," I said, grinning at him. I meant I've never really explored before; that's all."
My cheeks were rosy, partially from the wind and partially from blushing at that, though I ignored it and focused on both Damien and where we were going. "How is the City treating you so far, by the way?"

I smiled to her pleased at the jest.
"The city treats me well," I said glancing around before back at her. "I'm not used to such a bit place before. Azzalle is so different from this, and I miss the water."

"I know," I said, my thoughts going back to the only province I'd ever considered home before. With it, and my recent interaction with Sabriel as well as all that has gone on with August... I shook my head, hoping to clear my thoughts. Damien was offering me some time away from the pressures of everything, and I was going to take advantage of it.
"Call it Azzalese pride, but I think it's by far more beautiful than L'Agnace. I miss the water, too. Do you remember that cliff a mile or two from my families estate? I used to go out there with my parents, sometimes, and watch the waves roll in."

I smiled to her. "I think Azzalle is far more beautiful then L'Agnace as well." I admitted with a soft chuckle. "I particularly miss my ship, and my comrades."

An impressed smile crossed my face as I looked at him, then glanced back to watch where my mare was headed. "Was it beautiful on the sea?" I asked as I glanced back, honestly curious. "I've heard the waters are an amazing shade of blue farther off shore."

"Hauntingly so." I replied remembering the feel of the ship swaying, the black nights lit only by stars and the moon. "I think I could live my life at sea."

I smiled softly, watching the ground infront of us be eaten away with the strides of our mares. "You wouldn't have days like this, then," I said, glancing back at him with the same quiet smile.

I smiled. "True, and for that I'm eternally greatful to be here." I said pushing my horse into a gallop and breezing past her.
For a time I simply rode, letting the air blow past me as I excelled in speed. Eventually I slowed and then completely stopped before glancing around at the area.
