I chuckled, though it was more out of reaction than anything. I was growing more and more uncomfortable, but I tried to hide it as best as I could by bending to pick another flower. "And that wouldn't be appropriate either," I said, smiling softly as I glanced back at him. "I cannot imagine August approving of it."
Gods, I was a prude.

I chuckled, though inside I felt my heart feel the pain of dejection. "Prude." I whispered though I wanted to say something else. I bowed to her and then turned walking toward the lake.

I barely heard his whisper, and I turned to look at him. He was moving away from me, heading towards the lake, and I dropped my gaze again to the ground and sighed. Had I known I would have been faced with such challenges I wasn't sure that I'd have come, but Damien made no advances on me, and didn't try to force himself. He reminded me of any d'Angeline man, actually, proud of what he had and wanting to be viewed. The only probelm was that I was doing my best to be true to August, and to make him proud of me, regardless as to whether he was here or not. I could only imagine what he'd say if he rode up.
The thought made me blush all over again and I brushed the stray strands of hair out of my face. Turning, I began walking up the beach, choosing flowers at random and slowly building a bouquet.

I walked into the cold water till I was just thigh high then jumped head first into the water. I swam under water for a bit before popping out and turning back toward Mirielle on the shore. Standing, the water was just about chest high, the water just above my elbows. "Will you return to Azzalle in the summer?" I called out to shore and to where Mirielle was.

It was fairly quiet while he swam, and I listened to the soft songs of the birds, the wind through the new leaves of the trees, and Damiens gentle splashes as he moved through the water. At the sound of his voice I turned, glancing towards him. "I believe so, yes," I called back. "I need to take care of a few things back at the estate. What about you?"

"Not likely," I said softly. "I just arrived and I have little use of seeing my nattering Aunt." I chuckled. "I don't need twenty questions from her."

I laughed at his unexpected response. "I don't blame you. Maybe I'll pay her a visit, and compliment her on how well she has brought up her nephew," I teased. "I could always get some gossip on you as well."

I laughed. "Please don't." I said pushing back and kick so that I could go further back, the water now up to my shoulders. "You know I'm friends with August's mother don't you." I responded. I was only mildly friendly with her, but I could probably find out somethings about her if needed.

"I'm an angel," I tossed back, accompanying it with a teasing grin I was sure he could see from where he was at. "And as such, I'll spare you the visit," I added, my grin growing.

I chuckled. "Alright then." I said back with a grin. "You do back down very easily." I teased splashing the water slightly.

I shrugged, stooping to pick another flower before grinning coyly at him. "Take it how you wish," I said slowly. "All I said is I'd spare you the visit."

I chuckled. "You're an amusing woman Mirielle," I said plainly. "I can see why August loves you." I looked away and dove into the water doing deep toward the bottom.

He disappeared before I could formulate a response, and I stared at the ripples where he had been. I knew what my instincts told me, and at the same time knew he was my cousin, however distantly related. I moved to continue to collect flowers, enjoying the simple pleasure, though my senses were attuned to the small lake, and the man whose waters it hid.

I popped out of the water, having neared the shore and stood from the lake. Letting the water drip from me I walked toward where my clothes were. Thankfully I would dry fast, the sun was still high and it was quite warm out. I slipped on my breeches but left off my shirt and boots.
Sitting back on the blanket I took a long sip of wine and looked to Mirielle.

I glanced at him as he came out of the water, my eye scanning from his face to his phallus without really thinking about it. I blushed and dropped my gaze to my flowers once I realized what I did and what I saw, though I made my way back as he sat down. "Was it nice?" I asked softly as I sat next to him, laying the flowers down between us.

"Very." I said softly smiling at the flowers she had collected. "For some one or just for fun." I said indicating the flowers.

"For us," I said, looking up at him with a smile. Gingerly I split the bouquet in half, taking great care not to harm any of the flowers I'd picked. Once through I lifted half, slightly larger, and handed it to him with a growing smile. "Family," I said softly. He was among the only that I had.

My heart broke a little at her words, but I smiled never the less knowing that as much as I wanted to court her, that I wanted to be close to her more then that. And I was more then willing to give up as long as I simply had her in my life.
"Family." I repeated taking what she had before leaning over and placing an innocent kiss on her cheek.

I caught his shirt before he could lean away and kissed him back on his cheek, then grinned and released him, reaching down and taking my flowers up. "I used to collect these all the time," I said, indicating to a thin purple flower that was as vibrant as it was small. "I had a little vase that I kept on my desk, and whenever they died and I was unable to go out and get more, the children would get some for me."
I lifted them, smelling thier faint odor. "They definitely cheer an otherwise drab room up, or so I think, anyway."

I was caught off guard by her kiss and imagined it was a kiss against me lips, sweet and beautiful. Instead I sighed softly and smiled. "What are they called, do you know?" I asked looking at them.

"Omphalodes verna," I said, smiling as I glanced up at him from over the flower. "Blue-eyed Mary. They grow all over the cliffs of Azzalle, and inward more. I didn't see any in the fields on our way out here..." I paused, flashing him a teasing look, "but then we were moving a little fast."

I picked up the blue flower she indicated and eyed if carefully. "Yes, they did seem familiar." I said before placing it down. "Very lovely." I added giving Mirielle a smile.

I smiled backa t him, almost a little shy, but not quite. "I like them," I said faintly before laying my flowers down and dusting my hands off on my skirts.
"It's so nice out here that I'm not sure if I feel like going back," I said, looking up at the white puffs of clouds as they floated by.

I smiled softly enjoying the sight of Mirielle sitting next to me. "We don't have to," I said smiling. "I can grab some sticks, buts a lean to." I teased. "We could hunt down our own food. It would be fun."

I laughed, the idea of it all absurd and fun all at the same time. "I could use the extra fabric of my skirts for rags to clean with," I teased. "You'd have to do the hunting. But I'd make sure we had a lot of flowers..." I added, laughing and tossing a handful of grass at him.

I laughed again. "You're such a tease," I said, wrinkling my nose ever so slightly at him. Smiling again I layed back, my eyes going to the clouds. "Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live just like that, and not have estates and servants and grooms, you know?"

I chuckled and threw a bread chunk at her. "Come on now, you must have had some time in your life that you didn't have responsibilities."
