"I would enjoy that a great deal," I assured him, leading the way out the door and down the stairs at a slow, even pace. Once he left I knew I'd be back to working in my study again and I wasn't exactly eager to do so.

“You have my word you’ll be the first to see it,” I said with a smile. I knew I’d also likely have a painting of her and her birds done by then as well for her to see.

"And you have my word I'll make the time to see it, so you're not left waiting forever," I told him cheerfully but honestly as we made our way down the stairs and to the door. The painting and pages were sitting on a table, as I'd asked, and I picked them up gently and handed them to him.

Smiling, I took the items, arranging them carefully in my arms so that nothing I carried would be damaged.
“Thank you again, for everything. I really enjoyed myself. You are a marvelous hostess and great company,” I told her.

"Thank you," I replied shyly, almost tempted to give him a hug in thanks for the company I so often lacked, but I refrained. "Would you like a ride back to your shop?"

“No thank you, I enjoy walking,” I answered, smiling. “I look forward to seeing you soon.”
With a bow, and a wider smile, I stepped out the door and headed home. I had truly enjoyed my time with Lessandrie and counted myself blessed to have met her. As I strolled my mind was already creating the painting of her I would do from one of the sketches and it made me smile all the way home.

I watched him walk away, then turned with a small smile and went back upstairs to the aviary to listen to my birds some more. It had been a very pleasant afternoon and I'd enjoyed it a great deal.
