"Maybe, or maybe he'll start growing out instead of up," I jested with a chuckle of my own.

"Generally not unless they were more prone to growing out in the first place," I told her with an apologetic smile and soft laugh. "But there's always hope. I'm sure you must be able to cook well, being able to pick such lovely vegetables from the market."

"Oh no, I'm merely passable. It's just something I enjoy, so I bug Cook a lot," I said with a little smile.

"My mother always said it took a lifetime to learn everything about cooking- because everything had to be tried and conditioned just perfectly," I replied thoughtfully. "I would bet you're on your way to being very good yourself."

I blushed. "It sounds as if you're mother was a very practical woman, but I don't know if I will ever be very good."

The color deepened across her cheeks and made her eyes sparkle just a bit brighter in contrast. "Well, I have faith in your skills nonetheless," I assured her confidently. "I'm sure you can cook better than me."

"Then you must not think much of your own skills," I replied, a teasing note entering my voice unconsciously.

"I don't know how to cook at all," I replied cheerfully. "Only how to appreciate the effort it takes. If I were to try and learn now you'd still have a good deal of experience on me and still be better." I was teasing gently as well in response to her tone and hoped to continue to keep the mood light. "The extent of my skill is cutting cheese to place on slices of bread when I go out an explore some bit of land."

"You're an adventurer are you?" I asked with a smile. "No time for the kitchen?"

"Only enough on most occasions to walk through, compliment the scents of whatever is cooking and collect a bite or two for my wanderings," I agreed with a grin. This topic seemed to interest her and that was a good thing to know. "And I can't deny that I like to see new things and push myself a bit. The world has a lot to offer outside the walls of home or City."

"Have you done a lot of traveling?" I asked, thinking of my half-formed thoughts of taking a trip to Tiberium.

"I did a lot of hiking in the lands around my home when I was younger, and a bit here around the City as well," I told her amicably. "But I haven't been outside Terre d'Ange except for being in Akkad during the war. Have you gone and seen the far reaches of the outer world?" I asked her with a grin.

"No," I said, shaking my head with a smile. "But I've been thinking about it." I was thinking Landis more and more. Not only was he friendly and sweet, but he had served.

"Well, if it's what you want to do, I think you should do it," I offered amicably. "I can't think of a reason you shouldn't, anyway. Where do you want to go?"

"I thought I might travel down the coast to Tiberium, see where history had been made," I replied. "But I really haven't decided yet."

"I have heard it's a beautiful city as well," I said. "Many great thinkers have learned there, and some now teach there as I understand it. Being Siovalese as I am it appeals to me as well."

"I agree completely," I told her with a grin. "I'd have ventured off myself when I was younger if I hadn't gone off to war- though that was a learning experience in itself, though in a very different way. What is keeping you from going now? you seem quite interested in the idea so something must be preventing it."

"I can understand that in its entirety," I replied, my tone full of sympathy. "Much the same has kept me from doing just that sort of traveling after my return. Perhaps when things are more stable you will be able to make the trip."
