Wandering the Doorstep: Keegan and Nyx

[Nyx nó Cereus]

~continued from After The Drop-off~

We began walking down the hill leading from the Night Court to the rest of the City and I squeezed Keegan's hand. "See, isn't it a beautiful day?"

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“It is, very beautiful,” I agreed, smiling as I returned the squeeze of her hand.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Perhaps we can find a garden, or some place tucked away to enjoy the weather?" I suggested with a little smile.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“That would be nice,” I said, smiling. “Dangerous, but nice.”

Chuckling, I looked around as we walked. “I haven’t been out here for awhile, I see the new season has brought some new things.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I knew my suggestion was dangerous. Don't tease him Nyx, that's not fair. Keep your promises, seriously.

"Like plants that have grown?" I asked, his words a bit ambiguous.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Those and also some new vendors,” I said. I pointed to a cart on the corner. “He only comes every spring and stays until the end of summer.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Truly?" I asked with delighted smile. I'd not noticed him before and I loved knowing little tidbits like that. "What does he sell?"

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Candies last time I checked, though he has had some other things sometimes. They are usually these rather sweet, fruity candies that last forever while you suck them,” I told her.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Sounds delicious," I said with another smile. "I'll have to tell everyone at Cereus. Well, the ones I like any way."

[Keegan nó Orchis]

I laughed and squeezed her hand again. “They are rather good, and a nice treat for a cheap price. I like the strawberry ones.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Then let's get a couple," I said with a smile, leading him over to the vendor. "Two strawberry candies please," I told him with a smile, paying for them before handing Keegan one.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Thank you love,” I said, kissing her cheek before popping the candy in my mouth and smiling.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"My pleasure," I said with a pleased grin. For so long in our relationship I didn't have any spare money. Now at least I had pocket change, even if most of it went toward my marque. I mimicked Keegan and popped the candy in my mouth, making a little sound of pleasure as the taste washed over my tongue.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

I grinned wider. “I’m glad you like them too.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Haven't I told you that you have impeccable taste?" I asked with a grin, tongue working around the candy.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Yes, but usually when I’m complimenting you,” I said, grinning.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"I did not," I denied, though it would be hard to take me seriously because I was laughing. "You scoundrel," I accused, my arms going around him for a hug as we walked along.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Ah yes, I’ve been called that before,” I said, chuckling, my arm going around her as well.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"I'm not the first? What a disappointment," I teased, obvious from my tone that I didn't care. As we wandered along, I dropped one of my arms so that I was still snuggled against him, but could tear my concentration from him once in a while to gaze at the sights around us. "What haven't you been called before?"

[Keegan nó Orchis]

I tilted my head as if thinking deeply.

“Boring,” I said finally, grinning. “And I hope never to be.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"I don't think it would be possible for you to be boring," I said, looking up at him with a grin. "You're too much of an Orchis."

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Thank you,” I said, smiling wide. “That is one of the nicest compliments ever.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"I'm glad the truth can make you smile so," I replied happily. I wanted to slide my hand over his arm but restrained myself. Being good was a job for both of us.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Sometimes,” I said, smiling. “Though other times the truth just gets me in trouble. Just ask any of my teachers.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I laughed. "I can imagine, if only through experience in it myself." I grinned.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

Gasping, I grabbed my chest. “You wound me, fair lady,” I said dramatically.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I laughed. "Not too deep I hope. Shall I kiss it better?" I grinned impishly.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“To the quick,” I gasped, letting go of her and staggering to a bench where I let myself collapse in a lifeless slump.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

He staggered over comically, making me laugh. I followed and stood before him. "Hmm," I said contemplatively. "Would kissing you here work?" I asked, laying my lips on his forehead.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Lower,” I breathed, only my lips moving as I waited for her to kiss my lips.
