Wandering the Doorstep: Keegan and Nyx

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I laughed again and hit those flexed muscles lightly. "I would pay you in kisses," I declared.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Well, now there’s a wage I could live with,” I said, chuckling as I relaxed back against the bench.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Wouldn't you get hungry?" I asked with a wry chuckle.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Likely, but I know eventually I’d look pitiful enough that you would feed me,” I said, grinning.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I laughed again. "You're a sly one," I said with a grin. "It's true, but only because you pout so well." I ran a fingertip over his lips.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

I resisted the urge to capture her finger between my lips and suck at it, that would only lead to torment again.

“Everything I do, I do well,” I replied, grinning cockily.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"You do indeed," I agreed, chuckling. "And you're so modest too."

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Of course, I’m very good at modesty,” I said, laughing.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I laughed with him. "Modest as you are quiet and solemn," I teased with a grin.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

"Exactly," I said, then leaned in and kissed her softly.

"Should we start heading back?" I asked. "I don't want you to be late."

[Nyx nó Cereus]

There was a long pause before I could force myself to answer. "We probably should," I reluctantly agreed. I didn't want the afternoon to end, as much as I was acutely aware that I was here due to my Dowayne's grace.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

I kissed her softly and then stood, offering her my hand with a smile.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

I stood and took his hand with a little smile. "So, when should I come by again?" I asked as we started back to the Night Court.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Whenever you can,” I answered, lacing my fingers with hers as we walked. “Like I said, I’m not interesting to anyone else right now, I’ve got nothing to do.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Then I'll escape again as soon as I can," I said, squeezing his hand comfortingly. "Though knowing you, you won't stay bored."

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“You never know, I could stay bored just to do something unexpected,” I said, squeezing her hand in return.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Only to be difficult," I said with a laugh. "I'll let you in on a little secret: boredom isn't all that fun." I had leaned in to whisper loudly.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“Yes, so I’m learning,” I said, chuckling and repressing a sigh.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Perhaps you should take up a new hobby?" I asked with a smile that turned teasing. "Like writing me long letters."

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“There’s an idea. Though I don’t know that they’d be filled with anything but ramblings. Still, it would pass the time,” I said, chuckling. “Or maybe I should try my hand at poetry or songwriting.”

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"Oh yes, write me a truly horrible poem," I said with a laugh. "Though I would take a good one too."

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“I may just try that,” I said, smiling. We were drawing near the gates of Cereus and I stopped, wanting another moment with her away from the prying eyes of her Housemates.

“I love you,” I said softly, caressing her cheek.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"I love you too," I whispered, turning my face to his palm to kiss the skin. But it didn't seem like enough. "Kiss me?" I asked, even though we were just around the corner from the gate of my House, even though we were on the side of the road without a thing to hide behind.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

Smiling, I let my fingers cup her cheek as I leaned in and kissed her with all the love I felt for her.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

If only it could be more...

But the kiss was enough with the promise of his love. It would hold me until I saw him next, and could touch him and tell him that I loved him. Our lips lingered, our feelings almost palpable between us, before I pulled back slightly to look in his eyes. I smiled. "I'll see you soon my love," I whispered.

[Keegan nó Orchis]

“I can’t wait,” I said, smiling tenderly even as my body raged with desire.

[Nyx nó Cereus]

"I can't either." One last smile for his eyes alone before I made myself turn and leave him, rounding the corner and putting him out of sight. It was the only thing that kept me from looking back to try to catch a glimpse of him one last time before we next saw each other. The gates of Cereus were in front of me too quickly, and Brianna gave me an odd look as I entered, my feelings still far too visible on my face.

I waited until she was gone and then headed back to Orchis, needing the privacy of my room.
