I chuckled. "Well, if you want at all, I'm always up to taking my friends to the NIght Court." I smiled leaning forward with a wry smile.

Leaning forward slightly myself I grinned and chuckled mischeviously. "Oh, but we may have different tastes," I said ruefully. "Besides, once the adepts saw you I'd be completely ignored and I don't know if my pride could take it."

I laughed softly. "You'd be surprise where my tastes lie." I said taking up my glass and sipping it softly. "Besides, I highly doubt the young little female adepts, and male wouldn't pass me by for you." I finished off my wine and set it down. "So where do you're tastes lie then Marquis?"

Raising an eyebrow at her question- after all, I had no idea what her reasoning might be behind wanting to know- I said, "Nothing terribly interesting- not Mandrake or Valerian, if that's your question. But I do like my partners to have some spice to them."

I nodded. "The other night I was at Camellia." I said watching his expressions. "I find them, interesting to say the least." I smiled. "I've recently decided to branch out my interests." I said gesturing for more wine. "You should join us at the Night Court and you could perhaps find yourself a cute adept to join you at the Midwinter masque." The server returned with a bottle and I gestured for him to leave it.

Not an eyelash did I bat when she mentioned Camellia- after all, pleasure was pleasure. "I think it's good that you're exploring what is out there; a person should never be set in routine," I said with a friendly smile. "And I still think you and Delaunay would recieve most of the adept's attentions- after all, I'm just ordinary, while you both are a matched set."

I laughed slapping my hand softly against the wood table. "A matched set." I said repeating him. "Then I'll have to find you some one fun to take you, some one plain." I said comically.
"Though I doubt I'll have a hard time finding some one to make you shine." I said taking a sip of wine. "You shine on your own. I think you give me too much credit, remember that people are more interested in title then beauty." I said raising a brow. "I don't think I trust most of those that call me as such."

"Well near-cousin, I have no reason to compliment you for your title, so you'll just have to take my word for it when I call you nice to look at," I said graciously, smiling to show it was a jest. "PLus, I would hate to ruin our friendship as we both went after the same adept. I'm not very competitive but I also like to win."

I laughed again. "I'll take your word because I believe you have no reason to lie." I smiled and sipped my wine again. "Then I guess we are at an impass as far as pleasure goes." I tipped my glass to him. "Would you travel to the Night Court with my brother?" I said smiling.

I tipped my glass to her in return, teasing, "So does that mean I don't win?"
At her mention of accompanying her brother I thought for a moment. "I've never met him, so I don't know; he and I may not get along as well as you and I do. I'd hate to make an enemy of my friend's brother; that might spoil the friendship I already have. "

I chuckled again. "You win." I said then thought for a moment. "You're right, you and my brother may not get along. He is a broody man and one that doesn't come well to friendship." I sipped my wine. "But you should meet him at least once before hand, see what happens."

"Sounds like a plan, I'll let you tell me when he's having a good day," I said with a chuckle. "After all, I'd hate to interrupt some good brooding time. And you concede victory very easily, but then again you have nothing to lose. Usually I only compete with myself, but with a little loss of concentration I could be hurt very easily."

I laughed. "I will, and I do." I said leaning forward. "I'm not competive, I've never had need to be. But I can understand what you mean." I leant back again smiling, I was certainly enjoying his company and he was quite humerous.

"My victories are easy anyway, they're against things like Nature and Life that don't even realize I'm competing against them. If they did, I would lose, or at least come to an impasse that wasn't exactly what I expected," my cheerful voice intoned as I rested my chin on my hand.
"What do you do about the City- besides looking at your feet rather than what's before you?" I asked in a lightly joking manner.

I laughed. "To be fair I was looking at the pretty slippers I had just purchased." I said narrowing my eyes at him. "But other then that...I suppose to don't do much but look pretty and have young nobles lust after me."

A little amazed, I replied, "I'm sure watching the myriad things they do to try and get your attention must be diverting, but how can you stand to do that all day?"
Deciding that was a rude questions I quickly apologized, saying, "I'm sorry- I guess I'm just a rustic that doesn't understand. Still, if you could do anything interesting in the world, what would it be? There is so much to be done with life."

I looked up at Landis. "Honestly," I said leaning forward and placing my glass on the table. "I have never done anything save my needle work and read, mostly stories of my grand parents." I shrugged. "There is little for a woman such as myself to do, my parents never required anything of me other then as a good child, they never made me do anything other then be knowledgeful. In my years I have nothing to show for my life."

A little part of me pitied her for this; what kind of confidence can a person have when they had nothing they could do well on their own, something they took pride in? "Well, in the end I believe our lives show the pictures of what we loved the most; as long as you do those things to the best of your ability, everything will straighten itself out."
Leaning forward to match her, I added as an afterthought, "But getting out into the world and trying new things may help a great deal; you have to do something once before you know whether or not you enjoy it enough to do it well."

I chuckled and nodded. "I couldn't agree more." I said taking my wine back up and sipped. "Tell me then near cousin. What is it that you do then that gives your life such merrit?"

Smiling, I said, "I train in everything I possibly can and spend lots of time outdoors doing things my staff would have a heart attack if they ever heard about, as it could potentially kill me, though I never think of that at the time. I read and run my lands and try to keep things sorted out around me to the best of my ability. In the end, it all comes down to filling up the day with things so it seems like you'll never get it all done. I have no idea how I will keep myself busy while I'm here; there are not rocks to climb or forests to explore."

I nodded. "You are a thrill seeker." I said shifting my weight in the chair. "It makes better sense that you would enjoy competition then." I chuckled.

Nodding, I grinned ruefully. "I guess you could say that, but in the end it comes down to competing with myself- am I good enough, strong enough, fast enough, clever enough, to win this, to keep myself alive and well? One day, there is a challenge that will beat me, but at least when it wins I will know I faced it to the best of my ability."

"I'm sure you will, I'm spending the winter in the City and there's nothing too dangerous I could get involved in- after all, I'm somewhat bored by politics," I said in jest.

Laughing softly, I set down my wine. "Not even I am that mad."
I cocked my head to the side and smiled at Phreya. "You still haven't told me what you would want to do, were you free to do whatever you wished."

Nodding approvingly, I said, "That sounds like the best choice for you- the land around here is probably pretty sedate, and it's getting to be closer to winter, so no snakes to worry about. Have you ever been outdoors much before?"
