I looked over to the man that Dine was pointing too.
"He is fairly large isn't he, but I also think he's kind of cute." I surpresed the urge to giggle, since it would have made me feel too silly. I fought back a blush and asked, would you want to sit by them, there are a couple of empty seats."

I thought for a moment. I wasn't sure exactly what would go with sheppard's pie. I had been taught that it was important that your meal went together and I didn't want to suggest something that didn't go with sheppard's pie. Though I did have one ideal.
"It might seem strange, but if you could provide a vegetable that wasn't cooked I would appreciate it. I developed a taste for raw things when I was younger, but it seems everyone has to always cook everything." After a moment's hesitation I added, "only if you think the other guests will like it though."

"My dearest Caine, do not be so concerned. It is your treat to be had," I replied with a smile. "Is there any reason you are so inclined to eat raw things?" I asked, my brow arched in interest.

"He is all yours then, my dear," I replied as I thought back on the night's ecstasy. "He may be a kind soul, who knows? Let's go find out," I declared as I took Aaliyah by the arm and strode over confidently.

I shrugged, pausing for a moment. I wasn't sure if it would make me look uncivilized if I revealed to much about my past. While my superiors had accepted it without prejudice they did warn me that some might find it a turn off. Of course I was not here amongst possible patrons either. Or, at least, I didn't think I was.
"Well," I said, as I looked at my fingers which traced the handle of my cup, "I had to live by myself when I was a young kid and there was no one to cook things for me. It is easier to eat things raw when your that age."
I didn't think that sounded to bad, but I quickly looked at the faces of my two companions to see what they would think.

I let Dine take me over to the bar. It had been a while since I approached a man who wasn't under a contract with me. For a moment I wasn't sure what I was suppose to say. I then reminded myself that I didn't really have to please him since I was out on my own. I decided that I would just enjoy myself and see how things turned out.
Giving Dine a smile I said, "I think I'm going to enjoy me some wine, as long as I don't have more than two glasses I will still be able to paint fine when I get home."

I sat at the table across from Aaliyah, and ordered a bottle of wine to share. Smiling at her, I said, "What will you have for lunch, then?"

I looked at the frail adept with increased respect. "Well, you are a tough one, Caine. I will make sure you have raw foods if that pleases you."

I watched Caine as he intently attempted to choose a course for our dinner. I listened as he gave the explaination that he enjoyed eating raw foods.
I smiled reassuringly at him. "It is not uncommon in Eire to eat raw vegatables. Thou, I wouldn't suggest eating potatos raw. It isn't that good." I smiled at my two companions.

"That sounds lovely," I replied as I gestured to the innkeep to come take our order. Once he'd taken Aaliyah's I ordered some vegetable soup and a ham to be shared. I felt like eating light.
"Well, did you want to know why my neck was hurting this morning?" I asked gingerly when the innkeep had left.

"I agree with you. In fact, raw potatoes will give you stomach aches. Not something desirable, if you ask me."
I noticed 2 other adepts had come by to sit in the empty table next to us. By way of conversation, I asked my companions, "do you happen to know our two neighbours?"

I leaned into Dine slightly, so that she could speak low if she wanted, I was also partially moved by excitment.
"Yes, you must tell me."

I thought for a moment than told my companions, "I don't think I have ever eaten raw potatoes. I have ate a lot of raw mushrooms, and you must be very careful on which ones you choose. I even had one that made me believe I had turned green and was becoming a flower." I then laughed at myself, having forgotten about the event, since I was fairly young at the time. I still don't know how I managed to not eat something that would have killed me.
I looked over at the two girls. They looked to be a couple of adepts and good friends. "I don't think I've ever seen them before."

I chuckled at Caine's story, then furrowed my brow. "It was indeed a very dangerous situation to be in for a small child." I thought of my Yann, and of how he would fare on his own, then shuddered at the thought and whisked it out of my mind. I tilted my head and asked "Caine, do you have a family at all?"

I shrugged, "I have my House, but that is all. There was a couple who took care of me a long time ago, but they brought me here. They wern't my birth parents."
I looked at my pale hands, ones that where often scene as d'Angeline though I was found outside of the city.
"I sometimes wonder what they looked like."

I leaned in just a little closer, "a Shahrizai," I whispered, just as quietly as Dine. I had heard a few tales about the Shahrizai, though I'm sure some of them where exaggerated. They didn't frequent Eglantine to often, unless it was simply to get some clothing or another related piece of art.
I couldn't help but to ask, "what happened?"

"Well, he seduced me completely," I whispered in confidence. "Then, he took me home, and.." I inspired deeply, "he made love to me like I'd never been made love too."
I stopped for a short moment, reflecting "It was quite an interesting experience, really."
I tapped my finger on my lips as I reflected aloud, my voice low, "it was like being with a very skilled lover who knew exactly what I wanted." I paused. "There was barely any of that Mandrake stuff, actually."

"No doubt they were lovely people as you are Caine. We often but the product of our parents," I said warmly, though I suppressed a pinch to my heart as I recalled that I, myself, did not remember much of my own parents.

I thought about it for a moment, than shrugged, "purhapse, but I feel more like a chid of Cereus more than anything. It was the House that showed me what was right and what was not. They have also taught me how to show love and how to accept it."

I chuckled. "Gods, no, not one bit. But he did do this to me," I said as I pointed to the dark spot on my neck. "And in the heat of passion, I didn't even feel it. Or maybe I felt it and it was part of it, I don't know."

I don't know how I didn't notice the mark before. I squinted at it a little trying to imagine someone giving me one. I couldn't see me happily in the arms of anyone overly aggressive.
"That is a dark mark, you must have really been into moment. sounds like he really knew how to strum the right string," I said with a smile. Then asked, "are you interested in him as more than just one night?"

I shrugged. "The truth is, I was. Then he made it clear he wasn't. Then he gave me the sweetest kiss and the warmest hug. I liked him, but I'm not sure I want someone so complicated. Besides, he'd be unsatisfied with me, for sure."

"really," I said in an inquiring tone, I didn't want to ask him anything outright, since it seemed that it would be rude. Instead I added, "it sometimes seems that it would be nice to have a loving set of parents, but I also know that there are not so loving parents out there. So, I am happy with my House and I do feel I am lucky to have what I do."

"Another statement I can fully relate to," I smiled. I was about to pursue the conversation when I felt a gentle tug on my sleeve. Looking down, I saw Kit, a boy Joelle sometimes used for errands.
"Well hello there, what can I do for you?" I asked. Kit went to the tip of his toes, whispered something in my ear, and left, without as much as a bow to Caine.
"I'm sorry, friend. That errand boy is very impolite," I smirked.

I watched the young boy give Siegfried a message and then run off.
"Its ok, "I told him, "he looked busy. Though I might take your cue and head back myself. I have been here quite sometime. I'm sure there are chores stacking up for me back home."
