“Yes,” I said, smiling. “Your brother, the on engaged to the Queen, is he the oldest male?”

I had never given him my surname, but then, how many Ruskovians were running around the palace? I suppose it wasn't a giant leap to link me to my brother.
"No, Alexei is second. Vladimir is first. He is married, and has first son in Ruskovia," I said.

I’d been confirming my guess as to who he was, and I was pleased I was right.
“Is there a great age difference between you and Vladimir?” I asked.

"Seven years. My mother is an amazing woman. Seven children in seven years," I said.

I stopped, my fork halfway to my mouth. “That is incredible,” I said, shocked. “Are any of you twins?”

I nodded my agreement, then swallowed. "After seven, I think that my father was kind, and gave her a break," I said with a grin.

He had no idea how unkind my father could be. "Yes. And your brothers and sister, how old are they?" I asked, wanting to get away from thoughts of my father.

“Sixteen, fourteen, eleven and nine,” I answered. “My parents were together a long time before they had children though.”

"Is that common?" I wondered aloud. There was so much I didn't know about D'Angeline culture. I hoped Lessa didn't want to wait too long.

“No,” I answered, shaking my head. “They tried from the time they were married, it just took a long time for it to happen.”

"Nothing and then many," I observed, wondering if they had finally found the proper prayers for their gods. "Big family is good. My family is going to get very big, when my brother marries Queen Sabrina. Suddenly, many new cousins," I said with a laugh.
