“Only if it’s a boy,” I said, chuckling. “Elliot wasn’t too pleased with the idea of a girl going to sea.” The soup was so good, if I didn’t have my mind set on dessert I might have had two more bowls full.

"Clearly he's lacking imagination in that area then," I said with a chuckle.

“Clearly,” I agreed as I set my spoon down and took a drink of water. “If this baby is a girl, she is going to have Elliot wrapped around her finger from the moment she’s born.”

"Not just Elliot," I teased with a smile before taking another spoonful.

“I think Elliot a bit more than me even,” I said, smiling. “I’m going to be smitten boy or girl, but Elliot wants a daughter.”

"Any more luck with names?" I asked, remembering that when I had brought it up last time, they were still deciding.

“Etienne for a boy and Emilia for a girl,” I said, smiling. “I can’t believe we actually decided.”

"Oh Caraf, those sound absolutely wonderful," I said with a large smile. "'E' after their father?"

“Yes,” I said, smiling happily and glad she liked them too. “He says the next one has to have a C name to be after me.”

"Will you start going my your middle names after that?" I asked, chuckling around spoonfuls of soup.

“Mayhap,” I said, after I swallowed. “Or just switch back and forth from E to C.” I chuckled at the notion. “It doesn’t matter much to me truly, I just wanted our first child to be named something similar to Elliot.”

I smiled. "And I suppose my cousin isn't nearly egotistical enough to name a boy Elliot."

"Not even close," I said after taking my last bite of soup. I set the spoon down and wiped my mouth with my napkin. "I like Etienne though, and it was his suggestion as well." my hand went to my belly. "We are both hoping for healthy above all else, but after that we are wishing for a little different outcomes."

“Yes,” I said, nodding. “I really am hoping for a boy.”

“So would I,” I said, a little wistfully. “An Emilia will be nice as well. There’s just something about giving Elliot a son that feels important.”

"Well with the amount of children the two of you are planning on having, I have no doubt a son will come along," I said with a bolstering smile.

“True,” I said, chuckling. The server came and cleared out bowls, murmuring that desserts would be right out. “At least I’ll get use of all these loose dresses. It’s a shame to only buy clothes to wear once.”

“Indeed,” I said. My smile turned a little softer as the image of a shirtless Elliot working the fields filled my mind. I felt a thrill of desire and had to bring myself back to the present. “Gods willing, we’ll never be forced to face such a time.”

"And you know that you can always come to Montegue for an extended visit," I said with a smile. The server returned, this time bearing the torte. He served us deftly, pausing to ask us if we needed anything else and I requested another pot of hot water.

I took a bite of the torte, making a happy sound as the delicious taste rolled across my tongue. "We'll see," I told her with a smile.
