My smile grew as I looked at the cat. “Oh these are so wonderful! I think we should get all the ones we like.”

"As long as we don't bury the babe with toys," I said with a laugh. "Any catch your eye?"

I looked at the pile and with a grin picked up a stuffed cow with a big smile stitched in pink thread. “I like this one.”

I chuckled. "With a smile like that, I think anyone would."

Chuckling, i looked at the pile again and chose a bright blue bird and a floppy brown dog. "These as well, I think," I said, smiling. "We'll be able to start a zoo just for the baby."

"I had a menagerie when I was young," I said with a smile. "Mathieu and I used to have great fun with it. Oh, definitely this one as well," I said, picking out a stuffed bear, brown and very soft.

“Definitely,” I agreed. Our arms were getting full so I signaled for a clerk to come help us and soon my arms were free again and I plucked up a stuffed spotted horse. “This one too.”

I thanked the clerk as he took our toys, and then turned back to the shelves.
I laughed. "Oh yes, that one is perfect. And if we get a cat, we need one of these," I said, picking out a grey mouse.

“Oh, how could we have almost have forgotten a mouse?’ I asked with a wide grin. I looked over the rest of the animals. Most of them seemed duplicates of the ones we had already chosen. “I don’t see any others, do you?”

"No, I think we picked it pretty clean," I said with a laugh, perching the mouse on my shoulder.

I laughed at the mouse perched on her shoulder. “I think you might be taking that one home,” I teased.

I chuckled and shook my head, catching the faux rodent as the movement dislodged it. "I have all the stuffed animal I need," I said, offering it to her.

Chuckling I took the mouse. “Well, you can always visit him when you come see the baby,” I said, smiling. “Let me go pay and arrange for all these and the crib to be delivered, then we can move to the next store.”

"I think I'd rather visit you and the baby," I retorted with a grin, waving her off to deal with the particulars of payment as I wandered the rest of the store.

Laughing, I went to the counter and dealt with the business aspect of everything before returning to Juliette.
“All done,” I said, smiling.

"Wonderful. Where to next?" I inquired as I looped my arm through hers and we started for the door.

“There’s a shop a few doors down that has linens. I’d like to look there,” I said as we exited the store.

"Excellent," I replied with a little smile as we started down the street. "You know, I'm a little envious of you and this shopping trip. I'm just glad you let me tag along."

“You’re not tagging along, you’re actively helping,” I said, smiling at her. “I am just so happy you wanted to come with me.”

"Of course I wanted to come. I could never resist baby shopping, or a day with you," I said with a smile and a laugh.

“We’ll have to make sure and have days out together even after the baby comes,” I said, smiling at her. “I enjoy your company so much, Juliette. You really are such a good friend.”

“I’m glad we both feel the same way,” I replied, smiling. We reached the linen store and I held the door for her to proceed me in.

"Thank you," I said as she held the door, though that wasn't the only thing I was thanking her for. I entered the store and paused a few steps inside the door, waiting slightly for her and looking around.

I followed her inside. My smile widened as I looked around at all the different linens on display. “It’s like being inside a rainbow with all these colors,” I said, chuckling.

"Just have to make sure that the fabric is durable," I said with a chuckle, thinking on how hard children could be on objects.

“Good point,” I said, smiling and wandering to a nearby stack of cloth. “And like the crib I want something that isn’t too indicative of boy or girl so a middle pattern and colors would be best.”

"Perhaps the L'Envers colours? Or would that be too formal?" I asked, following her to look at the cloth.
