I had recovered for the most part; the only lingering effect was that I tired more quickly than usual. Word was that the plague was beginning to lessen its grip on the City. Even so, most establishments were still closed.
My cupboards were frighteningly bare though and I knew that some of the stalls in Night’s Doorstep were open. The quality of product wouldn’t be the best, but it would sustain me until the City returned to normal.
Dressed in grey breeches and a soft blue shirt, I made my way to the Doorstep. I stopped in front of a stall offering vegetables. The woman looked desperate for business, but even so I wouldn’t take advantage of that when I started bargaining for the cost.

This time I wished to venture farther then I had previous times, I had no real need to be there but I had heard of the fabled Nights door step and, dressed down in a very simple green riding gown and summer hooded cloak I walked my way down to where I had been told of.
I must have gotten lost because I ended up in a strange place where they were selling food wares and I had to chuckle to myself as I stared at everything.

From the first stall I purchased some tomatoes and olives. The woman was grateful and wished be many blessings as I smiled and moved on to the next stall.
“Pardon me,” I said softly as I stepped around an Aragonian woman.

"Oh Pardon me." I said moving out of his way. "I'm terribly sorry, if I was in your way." I looked around at smiled at the man hoping to strike up a friendly conversations, despite the lowly surroundings. My father would kill me if he knew I was traversing with such common folk, but I was loving every moment of it.

“Not at all,” I said, giving her a smile. “More than likely it would be me blundering into you as I paid attention to the goods and not where I was going.”

I chuckled. "Good think you were looking out for small women in your path." I teased, my hands clasped in front of me as I looked back at the wares. "Do you...come here often?" I asked curiously.

Nearly, three weeks had passed since my 16th birthday. Iwas getting anxious. Though I knew better then to be. I had been gathering bits of things I wished to bring on my journey. Nothing much since I had little. I figured I would have to purchase a good cloak, traveling pack and of course food. Anything no perishable and compact. So in an attempt to make use of my extra time in the city I decided to visit Nights Doorstep and research my options. So I made my way from the temple in my modest acolyte's wear, since I owned little else. The market area was quite slow of course. Here and there a few sets of people milled around. Though most were morose and immersed in thier duties. I did find notice an interesting set however and casual meandered around the booths and observed them. As it was a hobby of mine to watch people in thier element.

“Not so often as occasionally,” I replied. “My salon is in the Artist’s District so it’s not exactly far, but not close either. The stalls here are the only ones open at the moment though.”

A young girl caught my eye and she looked as though in strange grab, but I turned my attention to the man. "Salon?" I asked curiously. "What sort of Salon is that?"

I saw the woman’s attention flicker and I noticed an acolyte of Naamah nearby.
“I’m a marquist,” I said, in reply to the question. “Darien Kachine, at your service.” I smiled and bowed politely. I didn’t know her social standing, so I went for the middle ground.

I smiled though I furrowed my brows a bit at his word. "Its a pleasure Lord Darien," I said curtsying. "I'm Princessa Lola de las Aragonia." I smiled as I righted myself. "Mar-key-est?" I said in my accented D'Angeline. "What is that?"

“Marquist,” I repeated slowly so she could hear the phrasing. “I do the work that puts the marques of the backs of adepts and servants of Naamah. The proof of their service.”
“And please, it’s just Darien, your highness, I have no title.”

I nodded. "Oh, I see." I said smiling. "Adepts of the Night Court, how brilliant." I said grinning widely. "And please, call me Lola. I'm don't really have any standing as a woman."

“You have as much standing as any man,” I said, smiling. “Lola.” Her name felt nice on my tongue, pleasantly different.

I continued atching the couple's exchange. It had become appearant they were of new standing wtih each other. The women was very intreging. She looked exotic in comparission to the other patrons and seemed of no real interest in food. Her clothing was fine though simple, and I noticed an accent of sorts as I drew near enough to her her voice drift.

My glance drifted again, catching sight of the girl I had seen before but again turned my attentions to Darien. "Thats what I like about your country." I said smiling to him. "In Aragonia, despite my title, I am nothing. A low as a hand maiden to be sure." I sighed a little feeling for the first time really and truly free of my father's bonds. He could not touch me here. I stepped closer to Darien though and turned my back on the girl for a moment.
"Darien, does that woman have special standing in your country. She looks as though she would." I furrowed my brows a little but stepped back and smiled to her freely.

I returneed the womens' smile openly and noticed her expression had turned somewhat puzzeled. I realized if she was indeed forgiegn to the sity I may look quiet a frieght. An acolyte of namaah's is not hard to place. I purchased a healthy amount of dried friuts, probably left over from winter stores now that new harvests were eminant, and strolled easily to a booth selling incense and dried herbs.

“She’s an acolyte in the Temple of Naamah,” I explained, looking at the girl. “She’s in training to become a priestess.”

I tried sticking indoors as much as I could, but it wasn't easy for me. At home I'd always been out more than in - usually around the stables or doing some sort of swordplay, but there wasn't as much to do here. I didn't love it any less... but it definitely was different than all I'd known.
Unable to take sticking around the townhome any longer, I decided to go out for the day, having heard the plague was beginning to slow. Imagine, we come and a sickness strikes the City. I hoped everyone fared well, though it's inevitable to lose people during a widespread sickness. A shame.
Unable to resist riding, I borrowed one of Alexis mounts and trotted down through the streets of the City, then slowed as the crowd slowly picked up. It seemed I had to go further than I would have any other time, but that was alright with me. I found a stable to house my horse not too far from a marketplace, then strolled out again, dressed in a comfortable dark brown shirt and tan deerskin breeches. Running a hand through my shaggy hair to get it out of my face, I smiled at those near me, my eyes looking from the people to the wares and back again.

"Oh." I said wide eyed and remembering the things I had read. I reached out and touched Darien's forearm. "Some what like the adepts of the Night Court, but pledged to your god Elua?" I asked. Another man caught my eye, he was handsome in browns and looked to be a foreigner like myself but looked to Darien and glanced at the girl again. How interesting, I was learning so much.

Business was beginning to pick up a bit. I was relieved. After weeks of fearing to go outside the temple this little venture was invigorating. Plus I considered it a good omen to see poepl returning to thier normal pace of life after the plague had worried us into solitude. The sun had travelled high and I strolled to one of the trees around the market square to gain some shade and enjoy more of the days mundane activities. Spring has always been my favorite season, this was a proper day to be out.

“Actually, she’ll pledge herself to Naamah, the goddess of desire,” I said. The acolyte had wandered further off. “Those who pledge to Elua follow different training and lifestyle.”

I watched her but tried not to stare, at her and the other man I had seen. "is she trained to please like your adepts?" I asked him.

“Oh yes, even more so for Priestess of Naamah are gifted with pure desire. Acolytes must spend a year wandering the land and only after that can they become members of the priesthood,” I answered. I noticed a foreign looking man with incredibly amazing features. I wondered who he was and if he would consent to be painted.

My eyes had followed a figure as she walked away from where I strolled, pausing beneath the boughs of some sort of tree; I'd never seen its like before. I didn't know who she was, but she obviously wasn't a typical member of d'Angeline peerage, or a peasant. Tearing my eyes away to keep a watch on where I was moving, I smiled at an elderly lady and paused to let her cross infront of me, hoping the look of surprise wasn't maifesting on my face. Even the old were beautiful here. In Ruskovia, they were beautiful still, but more wise and stately. This woman held much grace still, and the flesh of her face had hardly begun to weigh down.
Shaking my head to myself, I glanced up again and caught sight of a very tall man and a woman who I would lay bets had no d'Angeline in her veins. I smiled at them as well, nodding my head in a manner of greeting.

"I would love to." I said smiling softly. I glanced around again and noticed the foreign looking man looking at us. I smiled softly and blushed a little. He was handsome, but not D'Angeline. You had Pieter, why not another? I glanced away shyly then back before looking to Darien.
"What else do you plan to buy?" I asked curiously.

I looked to where he was gesturing to. "May I come with?" I asked softly. "If the conversation is private I understand, but I would care to meet as many as possible."
