It had been a pleasant enough ride and the negotiations with Cateline nó Camellia had not had a hitch. Indeed I was amused in that it occurred to me the dear Dowayne seemed much more accommodating every time she glanced at my pretty purple eyes. Things like that about my position felt good all the way down to my bones, but this day I did my best not to gloat. Even if I had the most beautiful woman in the realm on my arm and the sun was shinning brighter than normal.
I chatted with Aurianne as we walked “So what do you think of the market? Spring time the fruit and such is not fresh like in the fall. Well some things are like the strawberries and mushrooms not to mention the asparagus” And as I mentioned the last we approached the stand for it where we were supposed to mee t Juliette.

The time at Camellia had been shorter than it had been the last time, and again I had the pleasure of leaving my House on Mathieus strong arm. Cateline herself had seemed to have taken some small interest in him, and my amusement for it was grand.
My fingers were looped comfortably around his forearm as we moved, and it took all that I had in me to repress the wide smile I felt into something more proper, not wanting to look like a wide-eyed fool, especially infront of Mat. "It's lovely," I said in more of a breathy tone than I intended, though I didn't let it bother me. "The people look refreshed, but more than that the view of the countryside is..." I paused a moment, trying to find the right word, "...incredible."

The ride was not long, but I took my time, speaking to those who flagged me down. I left my mare with a lad I knew could be trusted, and made my way through the market, basket in one arm. It was still empty when I spotted Mathieu and Aurianne, but I imagined it wouldn't stay that way for long. "No problems?" I greeted them with a smile.

I tilted my head at her and smiled more as my other hand slid over to cover hers where it rested on my arm. She really had never been out of the City and this was all a wondrous revelation to her. While I really enjoyed the look it placed on her face the implications were rather somber. I slowed to loiter near the stand as we waited.
“Well, sounds like I need to go charm Cateline into letting me take you out more regularly.” I canted my face toward her “If you enjoyed a simple trip outside the gates this much I am sure you would love Montegue”
I then spotted Juliette and looked up at her and shook my head “No, not a problem at all.” I peered into her empty basket though and enquired “How do you propose to carry that back with you whilst on horseback?” It would not be difficult to do just that, but I was at least trying to make light conversation. Elua help me I was trying so please what ever powers there be offer some sympathy.

"I knew I was meeting with you, and you have the carriage." I teased. "So what would you like for dinner tonight?"

I gave Juliette my most serious look and responded as if I were at a funeral “Food would be nice preferably the meat no longer twitching.”

"You are a model of usefulness little brother." I replied wryly. "Another other requests, other than very dead?"

“A little juices left in it would be nice so I suppose we can say dead but not cooked to being reduced to the consistency of shoe leather.” A small smile played on my face at that the banter was turning out to be more than a little bit pleasant.

"I'll pass the message along. In the mean time, would you like to help me Aurianne? Since my brother had usefulness has lived its short life." I shot him a teasing grin. "I was assuming you were staying for dinner."

I simply rolled my eyes and reached over and took Juliette's basket. See I am useful!

It was surprising, in truth, with the way that the air had shifted around the siblings. No longer tense, it was almost light and fresh, playful banter abound, teasing looks, smiles and grins. It added to the day for me, and I gave Mathieus arm a gentle stroke with my hand in silent thankfulness. His comment on Montegue wasn't lost on me, and I hoped one day we could travel there. I very much wanted to continue seeing him.
As Juliette addressed me, I smiled openly, a little bit of tease coming into my voice as well. "I'd love to," I said, trying not to laugh as Mathieu stole the basket from his sister. "At least now we won't have to carry whats chosen. Where are the heavier items?"
I flashed Mathieu a sweet, innocent smile, doing as I could to tuck all my tease away.

I groaned lightly and fell in step between the ladies “I should have brought my pack or I reckon my pack animal.” I looked back and forth between them “Though I suppose I can always just drop down on all fours and you two can pile your treasures high on my back and strap them down. Maybe on the way home one could switch my behind whilst the other tugs at a bridle around my head?” I laid the sarcasm on heavy and thick and indeed there was a smile on my face as the mental image I had just conjured was amusing to say the least.

I rolled my eyes skyward dramatically. "Oh, how he suffers after taking on such a burden voluntarily. We really are slave drivers. Now," I continued as if the subject was behind us, "Chicken, pork, or beef?"

“Ah well I am sure someone shall have to trail me with a shovel” I just had ot get one last quip in after that I let the ladies talk as they might.

"Chicken," I said to answer as Mathieu continued his antics, though an amused look was on my face as we began walking. As I'd never been here before I let Juliette and Mathieu both lead the way, and I looked around as we moved. "Are you thinking of any dish in particular?" I asked, reaching my hand out to trail across a bucket of wintered apples.

I fell silent and just trailed the ladies then. Though I did let my hand rest on the small of Aurianne’s back. It was starting to be rather important to me that her and Juliette got along I realized with a bit of internal surprise.

Mathieus hand was like a tingle that traveled up my spine, and I glanced at him as I felt it, giving him a warm smile before looking forward again. It was nice, the relaxed atmosphere we seemed to have, and I was finding I enjoyed it more and more.

I met Aurianne’s gaze and grinned and simply kept rubbing my fingers lightly over her back. Though as we passed some dried mushrooms I called to the ladies “Hold up a minute” I then began to look over some of the mushrooms sniffing them and such. I hated to admit it but the fungi were one of my weaknesses.

We paused at a mushroom stand so Mathieu could indulge, and I spoke to them both. "I was thinking almond chicken, and some fried veggies. Potatoes and such. Comments, suggestions? Other than the mushrooms." I amended with a smile.

I came to a stop next to Juliette as Mathieu went to smell the mushrooms, and I glanced to her, nodding. "That sounds wonderful," I said in truth; flattery is not a game to be played here. "Peas, also... I think they're an early vegetable."
I tilted my head a little, unsure. "I'm not positive on that though."

I selected a few and placed them in Juliette's basket and paid the farmer. Then made my way back to the ladies. "Thank you, and that sounds wonderful but I do not think mushrooms go with the seasonings you describe." I grinned at them "These are to be mixed in with my scrambled eggs in the mornings or mayhap broiled in butter as a side to our meal tonight."

"Peas, and whatever else we see." I held up at a stand that held carrots, better looking after a winter than many of the others. I picked out a handful and they went into the basket after a brief but friendly conversation with the vendor. I knew his daughter, but hadn't seen her in a few months. He promised to tell her I stopped by.
"And I think we'll have to return to the asparagus eventually. They looked quite good. Your turn to choose something Aurianne." I told her with a smile.

"Onions generally give good flavor to foods," I said without really thinking, "though I'm afraid I don't know much about cooking when all is said and done."
It was true enough - my time growing up had never been spent in the kitchens, but more in classes and learning how to be who I was today. I still attended classes when not on assignations, for that matter.
I glanced to Mathieu, trying not to grin but instead being appalled. "Mushrooms in eggs?" I asked, my voice aghast at the notion. "First your steaks walk off your plate, and now this..."
I shot him a teasing grin that I shared with Juliette before wandering a few paces off, looking over an onion stand that I'd spotted. Not quite the season for them, but it wasn't far off... though again I was faced with not knowing what was good. Some were yellowish, others white, still others purple - how in Eluas name did anyone ever keep them straight?

"He does have the most unusual tastes." I told her with a smile, then realized how my words could be taken. I flushed and tried to correct myself. "With food, I mean. What sort of onions did you want?"

I grinned at Juliette and struck “Well I am sure Aurianne can give you an in depth description of my tastes if you really are interested in the details. We were loud enough I suspect a few of the servants can as well.” I am not a bashful man and the chance to have my sister and companion both blushing at the same time was too much to pass. “And on another note I normally just have the servants prepare things as I like, but if you are inclined I will make scrambled eggs with mushrooms for you two in the morning and show you how good it is.”

I went bright red, and hated it. But we were getting along so well, I tried so hard just to ignore it. "I don't know if I trust you with a frying ban brother. You've burnt your fair share of things in the past, including your fingers."

I opened my mouth to protest as he spoke of us being loud, then abruptly shut it again. He was right, but not only that there was no graceful way to counteract what he said. Juliettes face turned into the same shade as the strawberry stand we'd just passed, and I could feel the color rising hard in my own cheeks; Elua begotten, but he looked as if he were actually enjoying it with that silly grin he gave his sister.
Even through my blush I looked at him, then purposely made my way to him, letting my body sway subtly, naturally, but noticably. Once upon him I halted, a bare inch keeping my body from his own, and I peered up to him, deliberately raising my arms to pull the clip from my hair. As it tumbled across my back, I gave him a smile, devilishness playing around the corners of my mouth. "That can be changed, my lord," I whispered breathily to him, my eyes switching from one violet orb to the other.

Oh joy they both turned nice colors of red but my sister was worse. I batted my eyes at her and replied coyly "Including bridges dear sibling?" It all brought a bright smile to my face. But then dear, beautiful, and charming Aurianne one upped me and swayed over letting her hair tumble loose. The sight was breath taking and more than a few of the farmers were openly gaping at her.
There really was only one thing to do "Oh it can?" I asked just as sensually then pulled her into my arms with one hand tangling into her freed hair as I dipped her whole body and sealed her lips in a deep and clearly passionate kiss right there in front of my sister and any farmer...well all of the farmers that were watching. We even got a few cat calls and a smattering of applause.

Naamah! His kisses were sweeter, I swore, than they were the night before, though the fact that he not only clutched me and my hair both, but then dipped me fully took me by surprise. If he thought he was going to make me blush and trip over myself, though, he had another thing coming. The cat calls and claps made my cheeks burn a little more fiercely, but I kissed him back with every last ounce of desire and care in me, my arms wrapped instantaneously around his strong neck.
"It can," I whispered between kisses, my hand clutching still the gold-embedded clip that had held my hair in place. Gods, if only we were back at his home... But this was a game if nothing else, and one that was more amusing than not to play.

I gave her a second passion filled kiss between her words and then smiled against her lips. The game was heady though and it only made me desire her all the more. When our lips parted I added "You are quite full of surprises dear one." Then I straightened up with her and looked coyly at my sister arm still around Aurianne "We were talking about my possible lack of cooking skills and mushrooms yes?" I grinned as I asked Juliette acting as if nothing at all had just happened.
