My body sang with his attentions, calling out for more of him while I steadily tried to fight it off and down. As he straightened us both I was a touch breathless and leaned against him ever so slightly, though I refused to give in and admit defeat on that round. I wouldn't push, but I also wouldn't take it as a given.
He addressed his sister and I awaited her answer, having to remind myself for a minute that we were infact shopping for food. The thought brought my gaze around again, though rather than vegetables and fruits I found a few lingering eyes of what I assumed were farmers and ranch-hands. My blush threatened to come back a third time as I brought my eyes back hurridly to Juliette, trying to save whatever self-composure I had left.

I admired Aurianne for her boldness, but my face couldn't stand getting any more red, so I turned away. That, and it was my little brother. Some things I just did not need to see.
Turning my back on them put me in front of the onion stall, so I selected a few as the cat calls came and they finished their little show. The vegetables cost a song, or more literally a kiss, as the vendor waved away my coins with a leering smile. Unsettled, I turned back to the lovebirds. "You didn't do your job Aurianne," I teased her with a rueful smile. "He still remembers what we were talking about. And no, that was not an invitation to kiss him again."
I turned and started up the aisle again, trying to calm my flaming cheeks down.

I kept my arm about Aurianne's waist and trailed my sister taking a few bows to shouted congratulations as we passed. Though I did pull closer to Juliette and leaned in whispering so only Aurianne would hear along with us. "Julie it is rather nice having a day with you that is not based on strife. Thank you." I leaned back then and gave the lady on my arm a small little hug. A smile was on my face as it was a nice moment and I had playfully pulled my sister's chain with it just to keep my hand in things.

As Juliette teased me, I was on the verge of bantering back, but as soon as I opened my mouth I closed it again. Elua, I needed to stop doing that lest people thought I was trying to catch a fly. I strayed close to Mathieu as he led me behind his sister, and while I knew my face wasn't as red as hers, I still was doing all I could to will the pink away from my skin.
My hip was pressed against his as he gave me a small hug, and I looked up at him with a fond smile, happy to have his closeness. "I... ah," I started as I glanced back to Juliette, trying to help distract so she, and I, admitably, could focus on somewhat else to help lessen the heat in our cheeks. "What kind of onion did you end up choosing? Or, rather, what color?"

I smiled at Aurianne and stroked her back softly our hips still brushing as if there was any doubt we were fond of one another it had been decidedly erased. "I am not real particular on color to be honest. They all taste the same yes?" My violet eyes met her gaze and I am sure she could see the longing there. Gods but my little game was starting to get to me more than a little bit as well.

Had we been alone, I'd have purred under the sedate touch of his hand moving along my back alone, but given we were not only in public, but in the presence of his sister as well, I kept myself in check. His gaze, though, made me ache more for him, and not simply in a sexual way... though that was admittably very appealing as well.
"I don't think so," I said, not entirely sure, though at the same time still doubting. "They usually have the purple onions in salads and pasta, don't they? It's not just for color... Or mayhap it is." I gave him a rueful smile, though I let myself press against his so we weren't seperating as we walked, keeping it that way for a few paces. "Mayhap I'll have to see about taking a class on food," I added, jesting a little.

At Mathieu's words, I turned to look. My eyes met his violet ones with an almost startlement, and I smiled shyly. The couple went back to making eyes at each other after we had our moment, and I didn't really mind. I was fairly sure I was just as bad when Gratien was around.
"We could make dinner together." I offered. "Make it a group activity."

I turned my attention back to Juliette and smiled “Yes, that would be nice, but we would have to put off the trip to the Laughing Parrot to do that I think.” I sighed and gave Aurianne another little hug my voice dropping as my spirits did a bit as well “I only have Aurianne’s company through tomorrow morning.” I discovered that made me very sad and I also discovered I was silently kicking myself for contracting Séraphin for the wedding. I mean I liked her well enough, but she was not Aurianne.
I did my best to recover though and put a smile on my face “So I suppose it is what ever the pair of you want to do. That is if you do trust me cooking. And besides nothing says I cannot pick up Aurianne again for more outings.” I turned my head to look at the beauty beside me and smiled. At the same time I tried to recall just how long it had been since Juliette had shared this many civil words.

The subtle change in Mathieus previously good humor was enough for me to pick up on it, and I gave him an understandingly sorrowful look as he hugged me to him again. This time I remained pressed into his side as we walked, not caring at the moment if anyone frowned upon it - I'd miss him, and I knew he'd miss me. I didn't want to lose time worrying about decorum constantly. "We'll just have to make the most of what we have," I offered to him in a quiet tone, giving him a smile meant to encourage myself as much as him before glancing back to Juliette.
"I'm up for anything, though," I said to add to the conversation. Both of them did a very good job at making me feel like an invited companion rather than Mathieus adept, and I knew there was no way I could ever express how grateful I was to them for it. Mathieu I understood, and adored him more for it, but Juliette had been a pleasant surprise.
"Anything that doesn't involve anyone getting burnt," I amended as I looked to Mathieu, giving him an utterly fond smile edged in tease.

"I'm sure we could find something Mathieu could do without injurying anyone." I replied with a grin. "And perhaps the next time you have Aurianne over, we can go the the Laughing Parrot and I can see if Gratien is free?"

Oh! The thought stabbed into my mind at Juliette’s words even as Aurianne was pressed so comfortingly tight against me. My sister was being supportive. I blinked at her a few times and I am sure the wonder showed on my features. “I would like that very much.” Then changing the topic to one less tense I peered into the basket while trying to school my features back to normal. “I also suspect I can manage to cut up some of these items without burning anything or anyone though I will make no pledge on blood or appendage loss possibilities along with the process of food preparation.”

I remained quiet as they talked back and forth, though I gave Juliette a warm smile in hopes of portraying a portion of my appreciation. She was either very kind at heart, or a good actor - I hoped very much that it was not an act.
My body still happily pressed against Mathieus side, I glanced at him with an overly amused smile, my hand coming up from behind him to touch his lower back ever so lightly. "If that's the case," I said, drawing my fingers along the rim of his breeches teasingly, "then mayhap Juliette and I should stay out of the kitchen while you cook."

I chuckled. "I'd rather like the almond chicken edible. On that note, we still need some ginger, and some peas. And whatever other vegetables we choose for the side. Asparagus? Broccoli? Watercress?" I rattled off what was in season. "Here are the potatoes." They didn't look the best, sprouting tentacles after a winter in storage, but were still fine to eat.

Aurianne’s hand along the edge of my breeches got a small shiver as I took the potatoes and put them in the basket. “I cannot mess it up that bad just cutting. Though if you two insist I will just set the table and sit back and watch the pair of you work.” I vaguely wondered what the servants would think of all this while I sped up a bit to keep up with the clearly animate Juliette.

"Oh, you're not ducking out of the work just because of a little teasing." I told him with a smile, finishing with the potatoes, putting them in the basket. "Now, what vegetables would you two like?" We stopped to get the peas, smelling fresh and green in their pods.

"Hmm, wrong time of year for corn on the cob how about a spinach salad?" I looked between the two of them. "And if you really want to go fresh I would also wager we could purchase some live fresh chickens about here someplace."

The peas smelled wonderful, fresh and earthy in their slender pods. They were easily one of my favorite foods, and I reached out, beginning the process of selecting some while listening to Mathieu and Juliette throw up suggestions and questions.
I was about to agree to a spinach salad when he tacked on the ending about purchasing a few live chickens. I turned around and looked a him, trying not to figuratively turn green. "If it's all the same," I said, clearing my throat a little, "I prefer not to see my meals walking about first."
Oh, I knew what I ate and I knew it lived, knew it died and likely only hours before I consumed it, but I'd never had a part in selecting, seeing or anything else while it lived. I glanced to Juliette before peeking back at Mat, hoping for understanding, but at the same time more or less expecting amusement from at least him.

I looked to Aurianne and nodded after taking in her demeanor. "Alright, was just a thought. Sounds like spinach salad it is." Was fine with me really I was just trying to offer some suggestions. But then I was taken by her appearance with her hair still down and a smile bloomed on my face. It was most likely a pretty silly one.

The fact that he simply nodded surprised me, though the silly little smile that came onto his face after he spoke automatically brought one to my own,and I had to look away to keep from laughing. "You two are more than welcome to go," I said encouragingly, wanting to make sure I wasn't holding either back. "Really - I'll keep shopping for vegetables while you're gone."
I meant it, too, if they were so inclined. Mayhap they'd like a few moments together as siblings at that; I'd gotten the impression from both that this day was a very good, and very rare, one for them. I couldn't honestly begin to guess why, either - Juliette was very kind and considerate, down to earth and gentle. Mathieu... He was gentlemanly and endearing, his hands full of care and his gaze easily showing his intelligence.
I smiled and selected a few more pea pods, reaching out to pass them to the farmer to hold, my gaze moving to Juliette first, then over to Mathieu.

I looked between Aurianne and Juliette and shook my head no. "No, you are not holding us up at all. And besides if I let you out of my sight one of these sturdy farm lads might steal you away before I knew what happened." I jested a bit with her in a light hearted manner. But yes there she was earning more than a few admiring looks.
I moved over to her with the basket so she could drop her selections into it. It was exceedingly nice to have such a pleasant day. Especially after I was thinking the trip to the market would likely be right up there with having an infected tooth extracted on the pleasure scale.

"I'll take the basket brother, if you want to handle the chicken. But I'm with Aurianne on this one." I told him frankly. "Would you like some mushrooms in the salad?"

I shook my head "I got it. We can use what ever chicken they have in the kitchen at the house. It was just a suggestion. As for the salad yes some fresh mushroom in it sounds qyite wonderful." I paused considering some "I really should get back to Namarre since it is spring and look for some wild mushrooms. They are wonderful when broiled in melted butter."

"Wild mushrooms?" I inquired, giving the farmer a smile as he handed me the peapods back so I could place them in the basket. "Where would you go to find them?"
I opened my purse and gave the man a few small coins to pay for what I'd taken, wanting to contribute at least something to the meal. I'd buy more if I could; it was money I saved for my marque, but carried with me in the case I had need for it.
Or, I thought with a smile, in this situation, want rather than need.

I smiled at Juliette's generosity "Yes, Aurianne let us get it. I have a vested interst in you having extra coin after all." I settled the basket more on my forearm then addressed the question "Yes, morel mushrooms they come up in the spring on wooded hillsides and such. They look like a sponge so are easy to identify and they taste heavenly. Not to mention looking for them when the air is fresh is a great way of clearing your head."

I shook my head stubbornly, though gave both of them a warm smile even through it. "I want to," I said simply. "Money may be tight, but that does not mean that we shouldn't contribute where we can, and when we can."
I glanced to Mathieu as he spoke, my smile still warm, though turning a little teasing. "And per your own rules, you have no such vested interest, remember?" My eyes twinkled a little as I said it, I was sure; pretend as if we were courting.
"Hunting for mushrooms does seem like a good way to clear yourself, I'll agree." I couldn't imagine walking on a wooded hillside scouting for spongey mushrooms, but then again until today I couldn't imagine walking outside the gates in a farmers market.
"What's next on the list?" I inquired lightly, my hand reaching unbidden to slip into the crook of Mathieus arm.

I scowled a bit "You should not always listen to what I say." But well and good we would play our game and see what time brought. I let Aurianne take my arm and that erased the scowl. "It is a bit of a lark wandering the woods in the spring."
I looked to Juliette for help in the what is next department. I had no clue on earth what it would be. I normally let the servants tend my needs.

I wanted to point out that he went walking to ignore the spring chores, but I bit my tongue sharply on it. "I've a mind for some watercress, and we still need the ginger. The stall for that is tucked away at the other end of the market."

Mathieus scowl didn't go unnoticed, and as he placed his hand in the small of my back I simply moved with him, letting him direct me as he would. I knew we both enjoyed each other greatly and I was ever grateful for it, though I didn't want to over-press any touch or emotion on my half. My House cannon mayhap was to blame, but at the same time it was who I was in the end.
