Halfway through dressing, I'd realized I was taking the care as if I was going to see the Queen. I had chuckled, but not stopped myself. I wore grey doeskin breeches and boots and a sea-blue silk shirt.
I had arrived early, as was my want, and so I loitered a bit around Désir waiting for Allisande to arrive. It had been far too long since I'd seen her and I missed her.

My stomach was beginning to show the slightest pouch and I was caught between dressing to cover it and not doing so; instead, I acted as though it had always been there and simply dressed comfortably, but nicely. I missed Ryan, and wanted to see him very much, and to impress him.
Desir was a very nice place, and I smiled as I walked in, remembering when I'd met Plaisir and made another friend. My eyes, though, were completely trained on looking for Fisher, and I hoped we'd find each other soon.

I looked up and smiled, seeing her enter. Stepping around the corner I'd taken to leaning against, I stopped in front of her.
"Hello," I said, feeling my smile change to an elated grin. "You look amazing."

"Thank you," I replied with a smile, just stopping myself from smoothing the gown over my new curves. They took a bit of getting used to, it seemed. My hair was back in a simple bun, held by a set of finely carved wooden sticks. "You look very handsome as well, and very happy to be here."
I couldn't help the little tease at the end of my statement, and I lightly ran a finger along his cheek, terribly pleased to see him as well and hoping it showed a bit.

"Yes, it's definitely the local that is making me happy not the company," I teased in return. I caught her hand and brought it to my lips, kissing it lingeringly.

A shiver of pleasure worked up my spine, and my smile grew more enigmatic. "I thought so," I replied softly, drifting closer for a moment as I waited for him to release my hand.

Keeping her hand, I twined my fingers with hers and looked at the hostess. She knew I'd been waiting for a guest and had a table waiting for us. She smiled and motioned for us to follow her.
"Shall we?" I asked Allisande.

Nodding in agreement I squeezed Fisher's hand softly in thanks. My appetite had always been good; lately, with the life growing in my belly, it had gotten stronger and more frequent.

We followed the hostess to a nice table by one of the windows that overlooked a little herb garden outside. I held a chair for Allisande.
"What would you like to drink?" I asked her.

For a moment I thought as I sat, then smiled at the server. "Are you carrying that sparkling juice yet?" I asked politely, and received a nod. "I'd like one of those, please." It was one of the things Plaisir had been working on when I'd done the tasting for him, and since wine wasn't appealing to my stomach at the moment it seemed like the safest bet.

"That sounds good, make it two," I told the hostess. She went to fill our order and I took my seat across from Allisande. "How have you been?"

"Well enough, for all of the changes I'm beginning to notice," I confessed with a smile. "Before it was a feeling deep in my bones, a sense of change I couldn't see; now, it's becoming more obvious in small ways."

"Thank you," I replied again. "It's being in-between showing and not is a bit odd- but also good. I can still practice a bit, though I may not be able to for long."

I stifled the urge to say something protective and instead said, "I'm sure you are the best judge of what you're up to at this point." I smiled. "Just remember that I am at your beck and call should you need anything."

"I will remember," I assured him, then teased, "Especially when it's something silly and annoyingly difficult to find."
My tone grew softer then and I lightly stroked his cheek. "I promise I won't do anything to hurt myself, or my child, and I really am being careful."

I hummed softly with pleasure at the touch of her fingers.
"I know you wouldn't do anything to put yourself or the baby at risk," I told her, smiling.

"Thank you for your confidence," I replied, noticing his pleasure and continuing my actions on that fact alone.
The waiter reappeared with the drink and set them down before us with a tasteful decorum, causing me to smile as he turned around and, seeing us not ready to order, walked away for what would likely be a few moments.

I chuckled softly. "I think I'm making a scene of myself, aren't I?" I asked, though I didn't move away from her hand.

"I don't think so," I replied with a smile. "And if so, it doesn't matter unless you don't enjoy it. Social niceties are important, but so is acting with sincerity."

"It's very difficult for me to stop touching you as well," I admitted softly, holding his gaze in honesty and affection. "You bring something into my life and I miss it when it's absent."

Her words made my chest clench slightly in a rather unfamiliar way.
"That is possibly the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me," I said, looking into her eyes. "Thank you."

"It's not only nice, it's true too," I teased gently, then ran my fingers over his lips, completely sincere. "I'm glad my saying so made you happy."

My smile widened. "That makes me very glad," I whispered in reply, then laughed quietly as I saw the waiter coming back over and looked in that direction. "Should we give each other a chance to order this time, dear Ryan?"

I mourned the loss of his skin, but my hunger didn't allow me to pursue contact with him. In the past few days my appetite had grown more frequent- almost surprisingly quickly, in some way.

The waiter drifted closer and I scanned the menu. "Are in the mood for anything in particular?" I asked her, knowing she may have trouble withthe menu.

"Actually, everything seems to look good," I told him sincerely and happily- as yet, my hunger had seemed to overcome any tendency toward a weak stomach, which some possessed in abundance. I seemed to have been made lucky in that regard, though I wondered if my figure wouldn't suffer for it later. "But I was thinking of starting with the Potatoes Allisande and then the seared lamb."
