Trying to keep from giggling- you've been raised better than that, my girl!- I flushed again but quietly and demurely looked at him with a soft, shy smile. "Thank you- maybe when you see my paintings you can tell for certain. I'm sure you'd be good at it as well, if you chose to try and you're half as graceful with your hands as you are with your words."

I chuckled again. "I am graceful with my hands...just in a different way." I took a sip of wine. "I'm a chirurgeon."

Raising my brows, I smiled widely. "That sounds rather interesting," I said as I looked at him. Eisande was known for exceptional healers. "What made you choose that career?"

I shrugged slightly. "It came naturally to me, even as a child I excelled in anatomy. By the time I was ten I could suture better then my tutors, men fifty years my senior." Was I boasting too much? Elua don't make yourself sound too important.
"Then again I worked very hard to get to where I am now." Good one.

"It sounds like you're very good," I said, thinking that it was nice to see him self-confident. "I haven't found my talent yet, but it must be lovely to be able to follow wherever it leads. Still, I hope to eventually find the one thing I truly excel in. Maybe it will even be something I enjoy doing."

I sighed and smiled glad that she wasn't off put by my words. "I'm sure there's something you are fantastic at." I said noticing our food arriving.
"Good timing." I said smiling to Lessa. "My stomach was about to start growling."

I smiled as the server's sat down our food I waited till they had left and turned back to Lessandrie. "Looks fantastic, I'm afraid my cook goes to waste, I have so little time to eat sometimes that its mostly stew and plainer items." Stop babbling and let the woman eat!

Smiling, I set the napkin politely in my lap, and picked up my fork. "I seem to have been doing the same things of late, what with being so reclusive since I arrived. Everything does look fantastic."
Delicately I cut into the fish with my fork, watching the soft flesh give, and then placed a piece in my mouth, where it melted into culinary bliss against my tongue; thankfully, my manners held and kept me from making a decidedly indecent expression of bliss at the flavors. After swallowing, I smiled and said, "It tastes just as good as it smells and looks."

Nodding in agreement, I took another bite, careful and delicate as the last, the habit so ingrained that I didn't have to even think about it anymore. "Thank you for bringing me here- I think this is the best day I've had since I've come to the City," I said once I'd swallowed, the flush on my cheeks deepening.

Flushing deeper yet- if this kept up I may turn an interesting shade of crimson- I said matter-of-factly, "But it is true. Most of my time has been spent wandering my house and thinking sad memories, wondering which unfortunate thing was going to happen next. I went to the L'Envers fete, but I wasn't really open to the experience, I guess- it seemed to have a frightening sort of desperation to it, as though people were thinking 'I must be happy or else the world will end'; all in all, not what I would call fun, or even terribly pleasant. Since meeting you, however, I have been able to have enjoyable conversation and laugh, as well as spending time with a charming and handsome gentleman." To keep myself from saying anything sillier and sounding like a child I ate some of the rice.

I must have been grinning like a fool, Elua save me, I was flirting with her! Worst of all, she was flirting back!.
"If this is the best time you've had since you've been here, I'll have to make sure the masque tops this lunch." I smiled wryly and rather too suggestive then polite.

Evidently, I had slipped into flirting quite easily, without even realizing it. Still, there could be no harm in it, and it was rather nice to be admired. Still, I blushed slightly at his innuendo, for though I knew a great deal about some things that were not brought up in polite company, my knowledge came only from books, especially in that sense. "I have no doubt that it will," I said with another shy smile, my eyes shining with just a little mirth. "Speaking of the Masque, do you have any idea what you'll be going as?"

Swallowing the bite that was in my mouth I looked at him, a little suprised, and said, "Really?" Realizing that statement alone wasn't really enough to carry a conversation, I added, "What would you want to go as?"

I smiled and shrugged slightly. "I'm not sure, I've never attended a masque before." I felt embarassed at this truth, how uncourtly.

"Then I think you're fortunate to be going to this masque as your first. I have never been to Midwinter, though I have attended some smaller ones- but, from what I've heard, those are nothing more than faint shadows ofthe Midwinter festivities. People usually go as mythical figures, historical figures, a particular culture, an animal or bird- whatever the heart desires, there is a way to make a costume for it." Unconsciously I tucked another tendril of hair behind my ear.

Thinking for a moment, I ran a couple ideas through my head. "Athena, the goddess of wisdom," I said self-assuredly. "With my hair being so bright it would be difficult for me to go as an animal or bird and I have always liked the legends of Hellas." Smiling slightly, I said, "I guess that's my pride speaking, thinking I could pass for the Goddess of Wisdom."

I'd never really thought of myself as strong or couragous. "Thank you," I said with a smile, still a little curious as to what he meant, why he had chosen those words. "I guess I just don't think of myself like that. What do you identify with? That is what you should pick your costume to be, I think."

I smiled. "You're so young and yet to have lost you mother and still carry on for the sake of Eisande." I shook my head. "More then I could do, and I'm much older then you."

Smiling a little wryly but with a lot of sympathy, I said, "I don't think age has anything to do with it, but the fact that I still have family left, people to stand behind me. Also, I really don't have anything else I could do, short of running away and joining a band of Tsingani- I was raised to think of my duchy first and I take pleasure in it, in a sense. It's the one constant. I think you're much stronger than I am, to never give up hope."

I chuckled. "I'm not sure thats true but I thank you anyway." I smiled softy at her staring...again...but took a few more bites to finish my meal. I followed it with a sip of my wine and smiled again to Lessa.

My meal was soon finished as well and I did my best not to flush any more at the pleasure of being under his constant attention. It certainly could make one feel attractive. Taking the last sip of my own wine- I was lucky to have a good constitution for the drink- I caught his eye. "You're welcome, and I think it's true," I said sincerely.

Smiling even more widely, I wondered if it was really me having such an effect on him. He was almost seeming to flush, but surely that couldn't be true- it must be a trick of the light. A little at a loss as to what to say, I asked, "What were we discussing before? I seem to have lost track." Then I blushed a little deeper red.
