Smiling serenely to myself to cover my nervousness- after all, this was my first time in the City and I hadn't had much interaction in this sense with men, though I knew the nuances and ways of such things. If it was possible to be taught, I'd had it taught to me.
In all, the walk was pleasant and both Simon and I had become more comfortable with each other in the course of conversation. Once Desir was in sight, I took it in. "It looks like a wonderful place," I said to Simon with a smile.

I nodded. "I've heard it has excellent faire." I said as maitre d' moved toward us. "Table for two please." He nodded and gestured for us to follow.
"Here we are my lord," He moved to Lessandrie and pulled out the chair for her, once she sat I did as well and he handed us the menus. "The specials are fresh fish on a bed of Kritian style rice pilaf and roast pork in a cranberry sauce." He bowed and left us and I turned to Lessandrie.
"Sounds wonderful."

Smiling, I nodded in agreement- I seemed to be smiling a lot since having started talking to him. "So, why have you left Eisande and travelled to the City?" I asked curiously- I couldn't imagine anyone having an easy time leaving their home and was wondering why he had chosen to do so.

"Business." I said smiling politely. "And duty, what else." I chuckled softly.

Matching his quiet chuckle I replied, "I understand completely. Have you ever been to Marsilikos?"

I nodded looking over the menu once more then setting it down. "Yes, when I was a child, no more then five or six. My parent's went to visit your parents." I smiled sadly.

He had some sorrow in that answer, remembering my mother made me a little pensive myself. Still, I tried to steer my answer away from anything that would bring any more pain. "It must be hard to remember being there that long ago."

I nodded. "Yes, but my time was more then pleasent. That makes it easier." I smiled and looked at the wine list.
"Would you care for some wine?"

Nodding in aquiescence, I said, "That sounds lovely," with a soft smile on my face. "I'm glad Marsilikos made a good impression- I know the City of Elua is supposed to be the most wonderful city in the world, but I will always like Marsilikos more."

I waved over the server and pointed to the bottle of wine I wanted, he nodded and left to collect it as I turned back to Lessandrie.
"I know what you mean." I said leaning my elbows onto the table, poor manners forsure in front of a lady. Awkwardly I sat back smiling embarassedly said. "Will you return the City after the winter?"

Placing my forearms against the edge of the table, I twined my hands together and leaned forwar slightly. "Unless something keeps me here for an extended visit I intend to return to Marsilikos in the spring. Still, I know I'll have to come to the City from time to time for assorted business."

I smiled wondering if she had noticed and was now trying to make me feel comfortable. "I wish I could do the same, perhaps one of these days."

"I think you should, if only for a vacation," I replied with a light smile. "Things will always look fresher if you take a look at them from another side, and time is the only thing that can clear the mind. At least, that is what I have seen in my learning about the world."

I nodded, some one else had said the same thing, I smiled to myself and wondered if it was true, if I should take some time away, if that would make it easier to find Riva. "I think thats a good idea." I said though not fully commiting to it.Be pleasent, nothing about Riva today.

I nodded again "It would, most definately." I smiled politely.
"What have you had a chance to do since arriving?" I asked as the server returned to pour our wine.

I avoided the topic of the late-night meeting at the Palace. "Not much, in all honesty- mostly, I've been occupied with work and rarely leave the house. I did go to the L'Envers fete, but I wasn't there for very long before deciding to head home. it just didn't seem right to celebrate when there was so much to mourn for."

"I now what you mean, I feel bad about being at all happy. I can't imagine what's been going on at the palace."

"I don't want to imagine what's going on there," I said quietly but frankly. besides, there's no doubt we'll hear about it soon, either from the royal family or the gossip-mongers."

"I agree." I said thinking how busy it would be at the palace. "Frankly I'm not sure I can take any more bad news from the palace. Life used to feel so simple, now...." I let my voice trail off.

Nodding in agreement, I took a sip of my wine and set the glass back down. "When I was a little girl I wanted to be a princess- with all of this tragedy lately, I am so glad that I'm not."

I let loose a small chuckle then cleared my throat, don't laugh!
"I don't think I could ever want to be put in such a situation." Shaking my head I smiled. "Lets talk of nicer things shall we."

Smiling at his chuckle and then a little confused as to why he cut it off, I said, "I agree entirely- I don't know what made me bring up such distressing events. Since I made such a bad pass at starting a conversation, why don't you pick something to talk about?"

"I'm afraid I haven't," I said with a smile of approval for the new topic. "Didn't you attend school in Tiberium? What is it like?"

I nodded. "Tiberium is lovely, quiet different from the City." I thought back to my time there, seemed like the happiest time of my life...it seemed like the last time I was happy.
"Its quiet old, with beautiful architecture." I reached forward taking my glass and bringing it to my lips. "Its almost a diferent world." I took a sip of wine savouring it and then placing it back down.

"It sounds wonderful," I said, "And I've heard wonderful things about the place. What are the people like? I know the culture is much different from D'Angeline." To me, a place was made by the people in it, so that was where most of my interest in other places focused.

I nodded. "Everything is wonderful, even the people. Kind of loud and occassionally nosey," I grinned thinking of chums I went to school with. "But good people."

"I know a good number of D'Angelines who are loud and nosy, so I guess it's not that different after all," I said with a grin. "Have you been to any other places?"

Laughed I nodded slightly. "Aragonia, La Serenissima, and once to Alba, but that was as a young child and don't remember much." I took another sip of wine.
