Her question brought out an immediate devilish smile from me; I couldn't help the devious thoughts that ran through my head at it. "Oh," I said, my voice a touch too innocent and thoughtful, "I'm not sure if there would be harm."
I'd noticed her look at the pale haired man, and leaned over, fingers lightly clasping hers. "Go say hello if you'd like," I said, a smile on my lips.

Her smile made me wonder what kind of mischife was brewing in her head. I glanced back at the young man. The thought of getting up and going to talk to him terrified me. I didn't want Joie to think I was a chicken.
"Alright." I smiled and tried to surpress a giggle.
I shifted off of my bar stood and placed my cloak in my seat. I did not want to lose my place. I focused on the man at the table and walked casually over to him.
I paused and placed on hand on the table and leaned over, "Hello. My friend and I could not help but notice you are sitting alone. Would you care to join us at the bar?"

I was picking at the food I had ordered, not overly hungrywhen I saw a hand place itself on my table. I looked up to see a girl with long red hair and green eyes which seemed to demand your attention. I tried to hold back a blush as I smiled and said, "um, sure."

Pleased with myself, I lead the way back to the bar. I smiled at the young man who, as I gazed on him, was becoming more and more attractive. I smiled mischievously at Joie. This could be fun. "My name is Aelan, and this is Joie," I extended a hand an touched Joie lightly on the shoulder. "Why don't you take my seat and I will move down one," I indicated as I moved my cloak. I slid my pitcher of mead down the bar. "This way you can talk to both of us at once." I smiled past our chosen guest to Joie. "What is your name dear?"

I almost laughed as Aelan led the pale-haired man back to the bar - I hadn't seen that one coming, figuring she'd sit at his table if they hit it off. Still, this may prove to be more interesting.
Giving him a welcoming smile as Aelan introduced me, I sat back and let her take the lead in the conversation, content to merely observe. He seemed shy; I wasn't sure what would come of this meeting. Taking a ginger sip from my new-found mead, I glanced from the pair before me and looked 'round the room, letting my gaze slide from person to person.

As I waited for the young man's reply I noticed that Joie seemed amused, and I watched as her gaze drifted from us to others in the bar. I hoped that I had not offended her by bringing the man back over.....

"My name is Caine n0' Cerus" I told the two girls, though my speach was a little more directed toward Aelan since she had asked. I took my seat inbetween the two ladies. Part of me was excited at the thought but another part a little over whelmed. The Dowayne was defininetly right saying that I needed to get out more.
I scratched my head for a moment, never being one who was good at small talk anc asked, "do you two come here often?"

My attention brought back with the sound of Caines voice, I gave both he and Aelan a smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Caine." Setting my mead back on the bartop, I clasped my hands in my lap and remained more or less quiet still; not uncomfortable nor displeased, but merely in a less talkative mood than usual.
"It's the first time I've been here actually," I commented in return to his query, looking over the lines in his young face. Young? I doubted I was much older than he, but at times it felt as if I were well beyond my years. Always the level-headed sister of four excitable girls, I'd learned early that calmness generally served a better end than speradicness... though there were times that I threw it out the window for a fun experiance.
Wondering slightly at Caine, I gave Aelan a glance before posing my own question. "And you? Do you come to the White Hart and wait out pretty redheads to pick you up?" A twinkle in my eye and a lilt in my tone gave way to the tease I meant for my words, though I was quick to couple it with a friendly, jesting smile.

I laughed a little at Joie's question. "Sadly I am not picked up by very many redheads," I told her. I then looked at the bar top for a moment trying to think of something smart to say. Turning back toward Joie with a small smile I said, "Though I do get lucky every now and again."

I was rewarded with some small delight at his rebounding answer, and laughed along with him quietly. "Ah," I said, the sparkle remaining in my eye, "Whether or not this is one of them has yet to be seen."

I nodded, "at least in seeing, it should be an enjoyable night." I then frowned, resting my head on my hand while still looking at Joie "that didn't make much sense did it?"

I mulled his statement, a tiny line in my forehead giving way to a concentrated frown.
"...Nope," I said, amusement coming through, "I couldn't follow it."

I shrugged, "well it wouldn't be the first time I confused someone. With all of the training we receive at Cereus you would think that my speech would be impeccable."

I laughed again, it was easy to feel at ease with Joie, though it was not something I always felt with new people.
"That is it," I said, "my intellect. I shall go back to my Dowayne when this night is over and tell her that it's offical, a cute redhead said I was smart."

I laughed again, enjoying the relaxed banter; looking at Aelan, I gave her an encouraging smile, then took another sip of my mead. It was peculiar - I had yet to get used to the taste.
"Perhaps you should," I said, glancing at Caine with a grin. "And if you do, say it in a way that she can't understand, and I doubt she could argue with you."

I laughed at the ideal of me saying something completely random and the look it would bring from the Dowayne. It would be a sight to see.
I nodded toward Joie's drink, it looked as if the two ladies where drinking the same thing. "What are you two drinking?" I asked. I was not very familuar with spirits or wines at all. I of course knew of joie, but that was about the extent of it.

"Mead," I said pleasantly, lifting my mug to salute Aelan. "My first time drinking it though, I must admit. Aelan here, though, is a trooper with it." A friendly smile was directed to the fiery haired woman, then to Caine. "Have you had it before?"

I smiled and listened intently to Joie and Caine's conversation. After the encounter with Brys, I was willing to let Joie lead the conversation. I did not find Caine's words hard to follow; I suppose I had become quite good at picking out the meaning from the speech of the nervous. Ah Eula! They were both so attractive i thought as I mused over my mead. Joie brought my attention back by refereeing to me as a trooper with my drink.
I laughed and cocked my head and grinned, "You should see me on the real thing!" I turned by smiled toward Caine and gave him a mischievous grin. I shifted in my seat to better address the two when it hit me. All four pitchers of mead I had been drinking all hit my system at once. I was not drunk, but full, very full of liquid. I had to find the ladies chamber - Now!
I leaned over and tapped on the bar to attract the barkeep. She came over quickly, "More mead dear?" I smiled ironically, "No, actually where is the ladies chamber?" The barkeep pointed to a hallway in the corner. "Down that hall, there is an attendant to direct you." I smiled gratefully, "Many thanks."
I turned back to Joie and Caine, "I may be a trooper, but all solders have to relieve themselves. If you will excuse me; I shall not be long."
I stood and rushed for the hallway in the corner.

I laughed at Aelan's sudden departure. Returning my attention to Joie I said, "I can't say that I have had mead before. I think joie is about the only drink that I have had to be honest." I had just realized that her name matched the drink, for some reason it hadn't crossed my mind before. "Did your parents name you after that drink?" I asked.

Poor Aelan! I'd have never been able to carry as much liquid as I'd watched her drink down. Sending a sympathetic, though however amused, smile after her, I turned my attention back to Caine.
"Nothing surpasses a well-aged joie," I said, winking so slightly he very well might miss it. "I think a part of the drink may come into play, but they named me it mostly for the Joy which is to accompany oneself as they take their joie." It had been strange, growing up, hearing my name and knowing the person spoke of a liquid and not I; now it was second matter, and I no longer turned my head when I heard an exclaimed, "Joie!" at fetes.

I smiled and nodded, "it is a good name." I then thought briefly on my name, I wasn't even sure where it came from, though I suppose the old couple I vaugly remember caring for me before the House named me. I figured such topics where not for a place like this, since it was suppose to be a place to have fun, not dwell on the past. Shoving these things out of my mind I said with a smile, "I think for now on when I attend a fete and offer joie to someone I will think of you."

I'd had a long morning at the clinic and although I'd been satisfied with my dealings and the consultation, I felt annoyed that my last patient hadn't shown up. Still exhausted from the hard work of the previous night, I entered the White Hart, having in mind to order some quick lunch before work called for me.
I quietly walked to the bar and found a spot next to an animated trio, apparently 2 adepts and a peer who were chatting the day away. I sighed a bit, thinking it should have been my day off and I could have been teaching Yann about the mysteries of life, and ordered some soup.

Peeking around Caine to the new figure, I quite literally blinked; he was, for lack of a more graceful term, huge. Not full d'Angeline; that was obvious with a single glance, though whatever rustic blood was in his veins, it left him with an edgy, strong look that was off-centered by the expression he bore on his face. Curiousity got the best of me, and I flashed him a quick smile before looking back to Caine.

The pretty peer smiled at me. Now that isn't something I get that often! Mustering all there was in me, I put on an engaging smile at returned it to her as I shifted my body towards the trio, in stance that would indicated openness but not indiscretion.

I caught sight of his smile out of the corner of my eye and glanced back on instinct, watching him for a long, curious moment. A faint blush stained my cheeks upon realization that I'd stared, and without second thought I turned my face back to my mead, taking a drink before thinking. Elua! I still hadn't gotten used to the taste of it.

My oh my. She was staring outright, but only in curiosity. I called in for some ale, and when the mug was set in front of me, I lifted it to her in salutation. I peeked at her body. She was all legs and would stand taller then most D'Angelines, though next to me she would still appear short. A mischievous grin itched my lips. I always find amusing to meet new people, espescially when they catch sight of my heritage.

Elua! Before I knew it, my attention was drawn again, and this time by an obvious lift of a mug in, what I assumed, was friendly greeting. The blush thankfully gone from my cheeks, I was able to compose myself and regather the wits that had scattered when I caught myself staring. Lifting my own mug, I raised it back in silent hello, then took as small a sip as I could. The more I drank the odder the flavor, and I didn't think I could even finish it. Aelan must have strong tastebuds.
Giving Caine a soft, apologetic smile, I broke the silence first, echoing my return salutation to the large man with a simple word: "Hello."
