I nodded. "I've travelled mostly to the east." I replied. "Ch'n was the farthest I've travelled, it was mostly by horse. What about you did you travel by ship or carriage?" I asked wondering about the other girl that Aelan was sitting with.

I watched as Brys's eyes looked past me at Joie. She seemed to be deep and thought perhaps preoccupied by some other matters. "By ship, then on horse back. I dislike riding in carriages." Once again my thoughts turned to my lost mare, and I had to fight back the tears. I took another long sip of mead to try and cover my eyes.
"Why on earth did you travel so far? What is Ch'n like?"

I saw a bit of pain in her eyes but she did not say anything about it so i let it pass. "Knowledge." I replied simply. "And its very different, their language is not like are in the least."

"I appreciate the value of knowledge, but you mean to tell me that you traveled that far just to learn a new language? Couldn't you just hire a tutor? Wouldn't that have been easier?"
But who was I to judge the lengths one would go to for knowledge. After all, I had left all that I knew for a completly different life in the persuit of knowledge.

I chuckled. "No, I didn't go to learn there language." I said softly. "I actually went to learn martial arts."

I eyed him susppiciously, "So you are a trained warrior?" I supressed a smile. "You will have to show me some of your moves."

Shaking my head I laughed. "I suppose you could say that." I replied. "But if I show you my moves I'll have to kill you." I teased.

Laughing I picked up my glass of mead and finished it off. I glanced up at the barkeep who was standing near by. "You know it might be easier if you bring me the entire keg." The barkeep did not seem amused. "Will a pitcher do my dear?" I thought about the large kegs I had helped my father move to our cellar. "Why don't you make it two?" The barkeep nodded and moved on.
I sized Brys up from head to toe. I can out drink him. Probably out run him. Definately would loose money if I bet I could beat him in a fight. I had trained with the neighboring children to fight. It was normal in Eire.
I smiled at Brys "Now that would be a shame wouldn't it. Then I would be unable to witness your, ahem, other skills."
The barkeep set two pitchers on the table in front of me. "This will do nicely. Thank you."

I raised a brow to the boy-ish girl. "I wouldn't fight you even if you wished it." I replied taking a sip of my ale.

I laughed so hard I almost spilled my mead. "Awww, that is too bad. I will have to see if someone else will want to partake of my sport."
He seemed to miss my joke entirely, but maybe that was the point. I had never been this bold before. I glanced down at the mead and wondered if it was stronger than I had realized.

I shrugged softly. "Its not polite to pick fights." I said glancing to the other girl again and then back to Aelan.

Fearing that I had offended Brys I decided to change the subject.
"So tell me more about Ch'n."

I had been out at my factor's office and decided to stop at the White Hart to have a bite and a drink. I wasn't in the mood for anything formal, and this seemed just the place.
Dressed in a gown of purple velvet so dark it was nearly black, I made my way inside and found a small table out of the way. I liked to people watch in this place. I ordered a bottle of good red wine to start with.
Once it arrived, I took a sip and looked around, wondering if there was anyone I knew.

I smiled back at Brys. "Well actually, what do people wear? How do they dress?" I studied Brys face for a moment. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a woman was looking our direction.

I looked toward with Aelan glanced and notice a woman, Mirsada. I turned back to Aelan.
"Would you excuse me for one moment. I just recognized some one and I'd like to say hello." I left my mug at my seat so that she knew I would return, and rose wandering over to Mirsada. When I reached her I sat down and smiled.
"Whats a beautiful woman like you doing in a place like this?" I teased slightly.

I noticed Brys coming my way, and I couldn't help but smile.
"Just stopping in for a drink and a bite to eat," I answered, chuckling. "What is a handsome man like yourself doing here?"

I watched as Brys crossed to the table where the woman was sitting. I glanced back at the bar and noticed he left his drink. He must not plan to be gone for long I thought. I turned back to the bar and over a Joie and gave a shy smile.

I smiled back, her grin intoxicating and I sat down next to her. "Same," I replied. "Well just a drink but now I'm thinking I should take you offer to buy you lunch since we were supposed to go for dinner more then a fort night ago."

"I would love for you to join me for lunch, but I'm not pulling you away from someone am I?" I asked, indicating the girls he'd been sitting with.
More than a fortnight ago Brys and I had been headed for something far more enticing than just dinner and the thought of that possibility made my blood heat.

I smiled. "No, not really, just a few women that I met moments ago." I replied. "But I'd like to continue the plans we had." I stood from the table. "Give me a moment."
Walking back toward where Aelan and her silent partner were; once I reached my former seat I picked up my mug.
"I'm sorry young Aelan," I said turning to her. "I have a bit of unfinished business. Its been a pleasure." I inclined my head and returned to Mirsada.
"So, I'm thinking since I promised you an nice dinner I should actually take you some where nice. Perhaps lunch at Desire?"

I watched Brys as he returned to the girls he'd been with and said something I couldn't hear. My eyes traveled over his form a little hungrily. I remembered the feel of his body against mine and the taste of his kiss. Oh yes, I was definitely in the mood to see what lay beneath his clothing.
I had planned to do some shopping this afternoon, so I had no worry about needing to return to the store, it was already being watched over.
"Désir sounds lovely," I told Brys, smiling and rising to my feet. I had already paid for the wine, so I was ready to go.

I watched as Brys returned to retrieve his drink. He moved with determination and purpose. I nodded and understood that he had prior commitments. Pity, he was attractive. I returned to my glass of mead.

I'd remained silent as the man had approached and taken a seat at the bar, then stayed quiet as nervous, seemingly shy Aelan had struck up a conversation with him. It was good to see her break out a little; from the scant I knew of her I had assumed it might be tough. Still, I gave the retreating form of this Brys a muted, however thorough look; he might have caught the tail end of it as he sat, though I had no wish to overstep my boundries with the woman he claimed a seat with. I was who I was, and I was not one to purposely cause strife.
Giving Aelan a smile, I took a drink of my now cold mug of tea. "That was interesting," I said, my voice holding a faint touch of mild amusement. "How is your mead?"

"Tis funny. The more I drink the better it gets. Not to worry. I am a long ways from drunk. During harsh winters it is hard for the people of my village to get out and about to the well. We stay indoors and try to keep warm. There have been weeks at a time when all I drank was mead." I smiled at her and pondered why she had stayed so quiet. "Did you know that gentelman? He seemed much more interested in you than he did in me."

I almost goggled when she said there were weeks when she'd drank nothing but mead, though thankfully I managed to restrain it to a simple widening of my eyes. Whatever responce might have formed on my tongue died as she spoke anew, venturing from the drink she cradled to the now-gone figure of the newly-met man.
"I don't know him at all," I said, genuinely surprised at her statement. "And I don't think you're right with that - you had quite an interesting conversation with him."
Giving her a smile full of nothing but genuine honesty, I signaled to the barkeep to come. My smile turned to a grin, and I glanced at Aelan before placing my order. "Mead, please."

I proudly grinned as Joie ordered her own mead. It is always good to turn others on to good drink. "You seem surprised at me only drinking mead. Well I will tell you a little secret. It was watered down. Very similar to what is served here. For celebrations we open the real stuff." I glanced down at my one empty pitcher and began to pour from the second. "We water it down before we store it. Three fifths mead to two fifths water. It makes it last longer." I smiled mischievously at Joie.
By this time the barkeep had returned with her glass of mead. I toasted to her, "Enjoy my dear." I mused to myself that D'Anglines truly are beautiful.

I walked into White Hart Manor with my hands in my pocket, it was a bad habit, but not one I had been able to shed. The Dowayne shooed me out of the house saying I needed some sun. I knew though that she was trying to break me of the last threads of shyness that clung to me.
I picked a random table and sat down. I ordered some light food, and to the disapointment of the server, some juice. I then set about to one of my best skills, people watching.

I laughed softly as Aelan finished her recount of how she drank her mead, my head shaking softly. "I couldn't do it," I said, amazed still at the thought. "I enjoy tea too much I'm afraid."
Giving her a smile as she gave a toast, returning it with a slight raise of my own glass, distracted somewhat at the sight of a blond haired youth as he strode into the tavern. Glancing from him, I took a glance of Brys and his companion, then looked to my mead. "You water your mead down, and say this is more so than you're used to?" Peering up at Aelan through the rim of my lashes, I gave her a smile. "A good thing, probably. At least I won't get tipsy off my first glass."

"Ah I enjoy tea as well, but it is not as common in Eire." I followed Joie's gaze over to an attractive young man. He appeared to be no older than myself. She brought my attention back with the flicker of her lashes. "Aye, well you shouldn't any way. But what would be the harm?" I winked with this last question.
