Smiling slightly I saw the familiar surrounding to the Cockerel come into sight. "You just enjoy watching me squirm," I remarked with a grin.

"Yes, I do," I said with a chuckle, then place a soft kiss on her neck before straightening up.
I stopped Belleza in front of the Cockeral and jumped down, offering Jess my hand after I had.

I smoothly slid down with his help, managing not to catch my gown on anything and absently brushed out the few wrinkles that had developed. "have you ever breakfasted here before?" I asked curiously."

"I have, a few times," I replied, handing Belleza's reins to the stable boy. He knew both me and Belleza and was fawning all over Belleza as he led her away.

Smiling at the events surrounding Belleza I replied, "I'vehad quite a few drinks here before, but never ended up being here early enough for breakfast."

"The food is good, more hearty than fancy, but good," I told her, offering her my arm.

I took his arm smoothly, playfully bumping him with my hip as though it were an accident. "I don't do fancy, so that suits me. The party I hosted for Longest Night was filled with simple, happy things and simple, filling food and drink. People seemed to like it though."

"Sounds like it was fun," I said, letting my hip bump into her as I held open the door for her.

"I thought so, and everyone said so," I replied. "Though my friends are such that I think they would say so even if it were tedious."

"You'll just have to invite me next time, I'll tell you the truth even if it's horrific," I told her, grinning.
There was a medium sized crowd inside, not so many it was hard to find a place to sit though, and I guided Jess over to a table in the middle of the room.

Looking around I grinned at the servers and tenders I knew, then sat at the table. "Oh, I'd have to invite you," I teased. "last time I nearly went home alone and it was at my house."

A look of mock horror came over me as I sat. "That would have been a complete tragedy," I told her. The look dissolved into a grin and a chuckle.
The server came over, handed us each a copy of their short breakfast menu and asked if we'd like a drink. I looked at Jess, letting her order first.

"Just some tea, thank you," I told the middle-aged woman with a small smile. "And whatever you recommend as far as food is concerned."

"Tea for me as well," I told the server. "And I'll have the hash, plus extra sausage." I smiled as she took the menus, causing a pleasing blush to color her cheeks as she left to fill our orders.

Rolling my eyes I shook my head slightly in mirth, grinning widely. "You just can't stop flirting, can you?" I joked. "One day some woman you've tormented is going to tie you to a bed and keep you there until you die."

"They've tried, but I keep chewing through the ropes," I said, clicking my teeth at her, then laughing.

"Ah, then I will be lost," I agreed, chuckling.
The server returned with or tea and said the food would be out momentarily.

Picking up a two lumps of sugar I put them in my cup, then let them dissolve before I sipped. "See, now I know the secret," I told him in mock-seriousness. "Unfortunately, it makes you unable to use your hands."

"True," I agreed after taking a sip of my tea. "And it would limit us to the one position. I'm much more fun free."

"I suppose I'll have to take my chances with that then," I said with a sigh. "And keep learning new tricks."

"I will happily volunteer for you to try out any of your new tricks on," I told her, grinning.

"Be careful when you volunteer, not all of my ideas can be good ones," I reminded him, flattered and happy that he would offer even if in jest.
The food arrived- his hash and sausage and my dish, a bowl of sweet bread filled with chopped potatoes and savory meats and cheeses.

The food smelled wonderful and I thanked the server before she left.
"I'll take my chances," I told Jess, then took a bite of food.

"You're such a flatterer," I told him kindly once I'd swallowed my own bite. "I can only hope I don't kill you in said attempt- if I can ever find you again, that is. After all, there must be a lot of 'Alain's' about."

"Probably, though I am doing my best to be the first one to come to people's mind when the name is mentioned," I said, winking.
I took another bite and after I swallowed, I told her, "If you still have trouble, it's Alain de Mauvais."

Nodding, I replied, "And while there probably aren't that many Jess's in the general viscinity, it's Jessamine de Mornay. Personally, whenever someone mentions an Alain you're the one that will probably pop to mind, if only because you're the only one I've met."

"As you are the only Jess I've met," I said, smiling. "de Mornay…. Ah, that explains the binding of words to you. I see the error of my ways in trying to steal them from you."

"I am a writer- that alone is enough to keep words close," I replied. "Though my blood may help that a bit. My great-aunt certainly had a way with words, though so does my Eiran Granny. Hers are just more- pointed."

"Ah," I said, feigning reflection. "I can see how you take after her."
Chuckling, I began eating again, finding my hunger rather large this morning.
