Smiling in return I turned my attention to my own food, which was very good and terribly filling.

Finished with my meal, I sighed contentedly and leaned back in my chair.
"So, lovely Jess, what do you have planned for today?" I asked, smiling.

"Forcing my sister to accept her birthday present, most likely," I replied, rolling my eyes. "Though since she's been in the City she's harder to track down. She is really too free with herself." To show I was good-naturedly joking I winked at him. "She just doesn't like getting gifts or making a fuss."

"I can understand that. Fusses can be tedious sometimes, but sometimes they are nice," I said, nodding slightly. I emptied my teacup and spun it absently on my palm, wondering what a seer would make of the patterns of leaves on the white interior.

Raising a brow and deciding to play a small trick when I noticed him playing with his teacup I raised a brow and afforded a studious expression. "My Granny taught me all sorts of things," I told him as I held out my hand for the cup.

Grinning, and having the definite feeling I was being played but going along with it, I handed Jess my teacup.

Scrunching my brow I looked intently into the cup, giving it a few expert swirls. "WEll, that's interesting...oh, wow." Looking up at him I raised a brow.

I tried to control the urge to laugh and said with teasing fascination, "Oh, tell me what you see, dear mystic."

"tea leaves," I replied nonchalantly, but grinning. "And something that looks rather like- a goat? Maybe a cow."

I snorted and made a face at her. "And what does that foretell for me?"

"I don;t know, the only thing my Granny taught me was to lead people along and to play tricks," I replied, looking up at him and grinning.

Laughing deeply, I shook my head. "You do that very well," I said, chuckling still. "Would you care for anything else to eat or drink?"

"Not if you want me to be able to walk," I told him. "I'm completely stuffed."

"I was going to offer you a ride to wherever you were going, but if you'd rather walk, I understand," I told her, smiling. I signaled for the bill, the serving lady brought it right away and I handed over the fee, plus a very generous tip.

Smiling, I thought for a moment. "Either one suits me fine," I told him. "But I think I'll walk. If I rode you'd only torment me, and then I'd be at home thinking of ways to get you chained for an hour or so," I teased, then playfully pouted. "I'm too delicate a flower for such things, after all."

I laughed and then sobered, trying to hide my grin.
"Oh yes, you're right," I agreed, eyes wide and innocent. "A very delicate flower."

Nodding sagely but grinning at his response I rose, then kissed his cheek. "I hope we shall have the opportunity to see one another again," I told him sincerely.

"As do I," I said, rising and kissing her cheek. "Be well."

"YOu as well," I whispered against his ear. "Look for a letter from me concerning dinner some night."

Smiling widely I stood and turned, making my way out the door and towards home. Hopefully Joie would be there soon if she wasn't now and could get her gift. Besides, who better to chat about such things as the past evening with besides your sister?

Enjoying the view, I watched Jess leave, then went out to collect Belleza.
I decided to take her for a run outside the City walls before returning home and turned her that way as we left the Cockeral.
