"Nothing exciting, unfortunately," I answered Allisande. "It's been rather quiet and Bryony of late and most of us are getting restless."

"My apologies- I understand how that can affect one," I replied honestly. I'd hoped to hear from him by now, but thought him busy- and perhaps he had been. Averting my gaze I brought it to my wine, which I finished. "Though I have to admit I've been busier."

Perhaps my emotions had not settled as much as I thought, for there was a tilt to her words that made my hand clench on my mug again. She, the source of my restlessness, the one who had kept me waiting to the point I had nearly found myself turning down contracts just to be available if she called upon me, had made it sound as if she had been waiting on me.
"Really?" I asked Allisande, my voice smooth and not showing a hint of my emotion. "What has kept you so busy?"

"Getting ready for when I'll be taking my hiatus from contracts," I replied simply, deciding discretion was the better part of valor where his tension was concerned. Perhaps I had been wrong in my assumption that he'd want a few days to clear his head of me.

I nodded, then took a sip of my cider. "That's all going well?" I asked.

"Somewhat," I replied simply, rather than 'not so much'. I had no idea where to begin and there were few people who could help me, as it was mostly my mind that wasn't cooperating.

I nodded again, needing to find a new topic. Fortunately, the waitress returned with Xavier and Selwyn's food and I was spared having to find one for a moment.

It was strange to have been around someone long enough to have an uncomfortable moment with them, so I simply remained silent and drank more of my wine. Besides, this was too much like airing private business in public.

I began my meal, and attempted to ease the tension growing over the table. "Is everyone looking forward to the coronation fete?" I asked.

"I don't know if I'm attending," I said nonchalantly.

"I am, both attending and looking forward to it," I said, then finished my cider. "Unlike some of my reclusive, anti-social Housemates, I truly enjoy these big celebrations."

Smiling warmly and hoping to begin with Fisher again I replied, "That would seem to be due to the fact your sense of fun is more understandable than theirs. More easily appreciated as well."

"It's all that salty sea air I got as a child," I told Allisande, smiling. "It scrubbed all the cruel side that comes with avarice right out of me."

"The smell of regular salt is certainly astringent enough to me," I said. "Wouldn't sea air make one's nose bleed or somesuch?"

"No, actually," I said, smiling. "In truth it seems to help clear things up, for me at least."
Setting my empty mug on the table I looked around at everyone.
"I hate to be the one to leave first, but I should be getting back to Bryony. Xavier, it was good to see you again. Selwyn, it was a pleasure to meet you. Allisande, it was a pleasure, as always," I told him as I stood up. "I hope I see you all at the fete."

With a nod, I held out a hand to stop him for a moment, then hesitated. If he'd wanted to speak with me in private, he would have made it known. "be well, Fisher," I told him, the name sounding foreign to me after calling him Ryan for so long.

I saw Allisande's hand move and stopped for a moment.
"If you are leaving soon and would like an escort back to Dahlia I could wait a bit," I told her, unsure if she wanted my company with no one else around.

For a moment I'm sure my expression held akwardness, but then I smoothed it away with the grace of a person long-educated to do such things. "That would be kind of you," I replied. "But I can leave whenever you're ready." Laying an understanding hand on Xaviers I smiled to Selwyn, who I hadn't had much change to speak with but seemed wise and witty. "I think I shall see all of you at the fete as well. I may have just the thing to wear stashed away."

I smiled at Selwyn, thinking I would try and steer some of my clients his way. He seemed nice and more often than not, those dealing with money needed a way to relax.
Stepping away from the table, I offered Allisande my arm.

Smiling, I rose and wrapped my hand over his bicep and smiled slightly. "Lead on, Ryan," I said softly.

I nodded watching the pair leave as I had been enjoying my meal.
"Interesting pair eh?" I said to Selwyn after they had begun to move on.

I chuckled softly. "I only gossip about people I don't know." I said wryly taking a bite of food.
