He was Bryony to the bone, cautious to the last while appearing to be as bold as day. I almost chuckled. And then there was Melpomene, who was a living realization of the go big or go home theory. How fate throws us together.
I almost asked him what he actually, truly wanted from his future, but I knew he wouldn't answer. At least, not with anything resembling the truth. "So will you buy the next round nó Liatris? Or must I gamble again?"

"I'll buy the next round, I know I won against my friend so I have nothing to lose," I said with a grin as I beckoned a waitress over. "What brought you two ladies here in the first place?"

"The search for entertainment." As ironic as that sounded coming from two Eglantines. I continued in a lofty tone. "The walls of our House are much too small to hold the likes of us."

Raising my brow I paid for the new mugs of ale and grinned. "Well, I suppose that's as good a reason as any," I replied slyly. "Slumming is good for the soul I hear."

I bit back the childish it takes one to know one, and merely raised my own eyebrow. "Is this not slumming for you Aleron?" I asked, a sparkle in my eye. "I expected better from one raised in Bryony and a noble household."

"Possibly," I said with a grin and a sparkle in my eye. "Everyone needs to know how to fit in with the masses; best way to learn all sorts of interesting things."

I half-giggled. Raising a mug to the ceiling I said, "Well, I do believe I am slumming, but I'm okay with that". I winked at my companions and took another swig.

Smiling charmingly at Melpomene I raised my mug with hers. "Exactly," I said with a chuckle as I took a drink. "Everything's fine, as long as you accept what you're doing. You can't play the odds if you only have something fake as your proof of winning, after all."

I sat back and watched them, wondering if I was going to have to stop Mel from doing something stupid by the end of the night.

I sat back and closed my eyes just listening to the murmur of the bustling room. It was somehow comforting and familiar. I could feel the cheap booze slipping down my throat and warming up my stomach. I couldn't help but feel at home here. More so than I usually did back in the walls of Eglantine anyways. My chair leaned back on it's hind legs.
I slammed forward and gazed wildly at my friends. "Let's explore the city!" I exclaimed, "Let's send a dove to Naamah!". My eyes were bright and my smile was wide. I was in an adventurous mood.

I smiled, but didn't leap to my feet. Instead I turned my gaze to Aleron, wondering if he would gainsay her. Melpomene was a bit hard to take seriously sometimes.

Sighing dramatically I caught Keaira's eye. "Unfortunately, I'm just a lazy adept- if I went for an extended walk like that I might die of exhaustion."

I winked back at him so Melpomene couldn't see, and kept my face straight. "And then we'd have his death on our conscious... I don't think I could live with that."

Walking into the Cockeral i moved to the nearest table and dropped down. dirt from the road still clung to my riding clothes and my hair turning it more gold than brown in the light from the candles. I beckoned to a bar maid and croaked out "Ale please. A large one. and may hap suggestions for places to stay if you would be so kind my lovely lady?" The young girl began to flush as she nodded to me and curtsied shallowly. she leans over and i can feel my self stir as her bossom threatens to slip from her bodice. "my sire there are plenty for the right coin. But for someone as well spoken as you sire i suggest The White Hart Manor." She stood up and walked off to the bar returning with a tankard of ale. I look around the room realizing that it was not only me there. there was a gentleman and 2 young ladies as well who stood out of the crowd. They did not sit too far off from me. They seemed to be talking of nothing really important and my drink was almost gone so i decided to set off intothe city. I stood up and walked to the bar paying my dues and bowed low to the bar maid from before. "thank you my lady you were too kind." a slight smile played across my lips. "mayhap i will come back after i have driven the stench of the road from me." I stood up and walked to the door and took one more look back at the three. i tried to commit their faces to memorey. there was somthing about them that caught my eye and i had a feeling i would be seeing them again. I walked out and found the stables and rode out to find lodgings in the city on the cheaper end of the scale.

I felt eyes on me, and looked around subtly. I quickly found the source in a young man, and wondered. I kept my eyes off of him but for a cursory glance, and watched him leave before turning back to my companions, the man's presence soon forgotten.
"What else could we do that wouldn't kill young Aleron here?"

"A game of dice?" I suggested, shrugging. I propped one knee against the table and curled my other leg underneath me, relaxing.
