It only took a moment to set his hair back straight again and then I was standing flat on the ground once more- really, I did need to remember that I was seventeen now instead of fourteen or fifteen, even if it did seem much more light-hearted and innocent. "Well, if they had the confidence to put up that kind of sign I guess I should trust them," I said with a smile, then started walking before I stopped and looked around. "I'm going the right way, aren't I? If not I'm really going to kick myself."

I took a quick glance around me, just to make certain. "Yup, it's just a few shops down," I said, having the majority of the streets memorized. What we would find inside the buildings is another matter entirely.

"Then away we go!" I said in a lofty tone, pointing into the horizon as though I were about to set out on a thousand-league journey, and started to walk at a sedate pace before I gave Eric a grin. It was likely we didn't have far to go, and there was no telling what exactly would be inside the shop, but I liked all journeys, long or short. "You know, I really do hope you want to go traveling someday. I'd hate to go alone."

My face lit up and grinned. "As would I. We certainly must plan some sort of trip, even a small one."

"There's probably a lot of places to see that aren't too far away, so maybe we can think of one," I ventured cheerfully as I looked at the shops and their signs, trying to find the one he'd mentioned before. "Sometimes light and easy that won't make anyone worry too much, because sometimes they do. We could always go exploring somewhere, like the lands right outside of the City and call it a picnic."

I nodded to her. "That would be an absolutely wonderful idea! When do you think we should do this, before it gets too warm I should think?"

His question made me think for a moment and I cocked my head while I considered it. "Well, you know the climate and this area better than I do, and you have the job while I don't have anything to do but wander around, do some lessons and practice my dancing, so I think whenever you decide is best," I said with a grin, then saw the sign and pointed at the Grand Magasin de Soie. "Is this where we're looking for?"

I nodded. "Yep, this is the place!" I opened the door for her again. "I think a picnic just outside the city would be a good start."

With a smile of thanks as he opened the door I stepped inside and looked around the shop, letting the different fabrics and styles shine on their own for a moment before I turned to look back at Eric. "Alright, a picnic it is! I can probably get everything that's necessary for one, even some wine if you like it. But, since you'll be outside you'll need a hat!" With a wink for the joke I started moving more deeply into the shop, my eyes peeled for a hat rack of some kind. There would probably be one, most clothiers stocked some types of headwear to go with their outfits.

"Yes indeed!" I said with a nod concerning the hat. I glanced around and found what appeared to be the men's section. There were actually several hats that I could see. "So, any of them stand out to you? I'm not really certain yet myself."

I was too short to see much past the racks of clothing that were in front of me so when Eric walked as though he knew where he was going I followed him, coming up on the hats as well. Some of them were completely outrageous but the others were pretty nice and I picked up a simple one of blue silk and spun it around on my finger while I cocked my head and considered. "Something simple and floppy maybe?" I suggested, reaching out and putting the small-brimmed cap on his head and then gesturing toward a mirror. "What do you think? Too easy?"

I hmmd ."Well. I am not certain if blue is my color. I was thinking perhaps a plain green or brown, something not too attention gathering, but flattering nonetheless."

"Those colors would be great on you," I agreed as I took the blue one back off of him and set it on the rack, looking for something in a variety of at least one of those colors. "But what about the shape of it? Did you like the floppy effect or something with a brim?" There were actually enough that it would be a lot of fun to try them all out, and hopefully there would be something worth his time in the grouping.

"Either really," I explained. "If I had to choose just one it would be something floppy in a dark, but muted green."

"That should be easy enough to manage with all of the choices here," I said with a wide smile as I started to walk among the racks. Green was a color that was common enough, and his request really was a basic one. Something caught my eye and I pulled out a green hat with a slightly wider brim than the blue one had, embroidered with brown leaves around the side. "What about this one?"

I grinned. "It looks just about perfect!" I held out my hand for it, and when she gave it to me I placed it on my head. it fit like a glove. "How does it look Noemi?"

When he put it on I smiled and looked at him with a smile. It really did suit him rather well and didn't overshadow his handsome features. "Very dashing," I said in an admiring tone, reaching up to stroke the soft material of it. "And very much you. I think it's perfect." Remembering the teasing from earlier I continued with a sigh, "Even though it's not red or velvet or have a huge feather that could probably knock someone down." With that I gave him a wink.

I chuckled. "Yes. I think other than that it's perfect. This is the one." I took it off and let it orbit around my finger. "Anything we need to get for you while we are here?"

I smiled and gave Eric a playful gasp as I watched him twirl the hat on his finger, a light laugh creeping into my voice through the jesting tone of shock. "You're asking me if I want to do MORE shopping? A brave question, my friend, since there's always something new to see wherever one goes. Or are you saying I need to update my wardrobe?" I knew I was probably dressing a little differently than current d'Angeline fashion, but I enjoyed playing with vintage clothing and new looks, and the question was really more of my jesting- though if he had advice I would certainly take it with no hard feelings. Having a second opinion was always good.

I laughed and shook my head. "To be completely honest I'd rather do neither. I was just wondering if there was anything else that you'd like to do before we part ways."

"No, I should probably go back to my house and get ready to set up my room," I replied with a smile, cocking my head and looking up at him. "And you probably have things that you need to do too, right?" After all, he did have a job and other things that would have occupied his time that he'd rather not do with a random Trevalion princess tagging along.
Taking the hat off of his finger I leaned up to put it on his head. "It looks better that way," I teased, then kissed his cheek lightly. "I hope you do stop by and say hello sometimes, my friend."

I nodded, though her kiss caused me to turn deep scarlet upon my cheeks. "I certainly will." I walked with her to the clerk to pay for the new headpiece.

I walked with him to the front, letting a few things that I thought Victoire would like to know about catch my eye so I could remember them to tell to her later. I could play with fabric and style, but of the two of us she was older and had more experience at it. The flush on his cheeks was bright and I smiled a little at it as we waited by the counter. "Do you blush because you're embarrassed, or is it for something else?" I asked with a sort of teasing curiosity.

I smiled tenderly. "Not embarrassed ... just surprised. Things like that just have that effect on me I suppose." I looked into her eyes and then down. "A little mixture of my training staying with me too I suppose."

The answer he gave, or the way he answered, really was charming and I could start to understand where some of that training may have been coming through as well as the potential draw of it. Even raised in Serenissima I was d'Angeline and we understood things almost instinctively. "I'm a pretty surprising person most times," I replied in the same gently joking tone as I lightly brushed his cheek, a sign that I though I understood what he was trying to say. "So it's good the blush looks so handsome on you."
About that time the shop-keeper came behind the counter and I lowered my hand, smiling widely and waited for them to finish their transaction.

The blush did not depart either, the brush on my cheek made certain of that. I watched as she purchased the hat, smiling as well. Though the time was nearly at an end I had enjoyed every second.

The hat was easily bought and I smiled my thanks to the shop-keeper as he went back to his work, then turned to Eric again and grinned. "Now that's done and I should probably get home before my sister decides to arrange my room for me," I said with an entirely jesting sigh and a wink. "Any time you want to come by, feel free. I'm usually home at some point and people will actually give me the messages if you leave one, and if nothing else I'll come by and bug you from time to time."
My smile softened a bit and I offered him my hand to shake again. "I had a lot of fun. It was really nice meeting you, Eric."

I smiled brightly and shook her hand one last time, but in the end I opened my arms for a hug. "Likewise. You've caused me to have a wonderful day, Noemi! My the Companions be with you!" I told her as we left. I placed my new hat on my head, knowing I still had a couple places I hed to get to before returning home.

"And with you," I told him with a laugh as I took the offered hug, then stepped away, tipped my own hat at him and then started home. It had been a fantastic time in the City but now I had to get home and make sure all of my new purchases actually made it where I meant for them to.
