I arrived with Malabella in her carriage at the front of Mandrake House. Like all of the houses a lot of care was put into its upkeep and making sure the outside of it looked appealing to future patrons.
I helped myself out of her carriage and waited for Mala.

Stepping out of the carriage, I smoothed my dress, somehow the dress seemed even more appropriate at Mandrake, and looked around.
"It's rather lovely," I told Idaeus, still looking over the stonework and flora.

I smiled, even though I sometimes grew tired of the routines, I could never bring myself to hate Mandrake. They understood me when my parents didn't and where my parents in heart.
"Thank You," I told her, "the inside is even nicer, and in some ways," I paused to give my last statement more meaning," more interesting."
I then walked over to the main door and held it open for her as if I was a tour guide by nature, though I was most certainly not. It was fun to play the role though, at least for Mala.

I followed Mala through the door and into Mandrake. I didn't have to think long about where to start the tour since Mandrake is a well thought out building and you can walk through all the main places without back tracking or going in circles.
I started walking down the main hall, passing by the Dowayne's office. I didnt' feel like stopping, but out of respect I asked Mala if she wanted to meet, since there was a remote chance the Dowayne wasn't off running around somewhere.

"Not particularly," I told Idaeus, glancing at the door and then away. The Dowayne would only bring out the challenging side of me, I knew, and at the moment I was enjoying not having to deal with anything like that.

I nodded slightly, happy with the fact she didn't want to meet. I continued down the hall which included a few rooms for patrons and adepts to meet in a non-contract related situation. They where simply pleasent rooms with chairs, a table, a few lounging couches against the walls. There wasn't much to show. One room however did lead to the back courtyard and garden of Mandrake.
"If we walk through here we can see the garden. Its nearly as large as the palace gardens, but its still very nice in its own way. It has some traditional flowers in it, but we also have a few exotics you won't see in most of Terre d'Ange." I lead Mala through the room and out the back door as I told her this.

Flowers made me think of Christophe and I bit my bottom lip to keep silent the little sob that threatened to escape. I pushed away thoughts of him and focused on Idaeus and the here and now.
We exited the building proper and I looked around. "Do you spend much time out here?" I asked him as I began to explore.

I followed Mala this time, letting her see what she wanted at her pace.
"I tend to only come out here if a patron prefers it. Some like to feel pain when surrounded by beauty, though I am limited on what I can do out here when I am with one." I thought about that fact for a moment than added, "I guess when it comes to the pretty things I like, I am more of a human watcher than a plant watcher."

"Humans do seem to be more interesting to watch," I agreed, smiling softly. "Though I have met some that make plants seem like an Eglantine tumbling act."
There was a pot of daffodils next to a bench and I sat for a moment, looking at their gaily yellow blooms. Daffodils were always one of the first to bloom, sometimes when it seemed impossible for anything to be flowering so early.
"These are very nice," I told him, reaching out to touch of one the blooms gently.

I watched as Mala sat on the bench and eyed the daffodils.
"They are pretty I suppose," I told her, "but I tend to gravitate toward the more unusual blooms we have in here. Though sadly they are out of season at this moment."
I looked around to be sure that there where no overly aggressive flowers trying to make their way through, but there wasn't. I then sat down in the path near the flowers. I had never been a fan of the benches in the park, though I didn't have a good reason why.
I looked up at Mala then ventured forth with, "you do seem to be in your thoughts today, is there something bothering you?"

I gave him a small smile of apology, dropping my hands into my lap. "Forgive me," I said, shaking my head slightly. "I guess I'm not being very good company, am I?"
I took a deep breath, trying to decide if and how much I wanted to tell Idaeus about what was truly bothering me.
"There's just been a whole lot of turmoil in my life of late, none of it good. I hardly know who I am any more," I told him, dropping my gaze to look at my hands.

I traced the delecate stem of one of the daffoldils as Mala decided how much to tell me.
I stood up as she dropped her gaze and took her hands into mine, mainly so she would look up at me. "Just remember," I told her, "you are a strong woman, it was that aspect of you that I respected most in you. Don't let life or anyone else take that."
I continued to hold her hands and gaze, I needed to see if she would take my words into consideration.

Standing as well, I smiled. "Thank you." I said, leaning in and kissing his cheek softly.

Mala's soft lips made my cheek tingle, she definintely had something over me that most people didn't. Though I didn't know exactly what it was. It wasn't anything silly like a crush. I just wanted her to always be her confident self and I wanted to be around to make sure nothing tried to mess that up.
Smiling at her I said, "I hope that you soon feel your self again, but for now I hope that I can at least entertain you with the view of this house. If anything you might get some ideals for your own." I then had a brief thought of the fete she had thrown and the evening I had with Brice. I couldn't keep my more mischevous smile from appearing and said, "not that your guest rooms arn't well put together."

I gladly accepted her arm, "it would be my pleasure."
We continued to walk down the hall. There where a few public washrooms, which were not a point of intrest I don't think to anyone, and then the pleasure rooms. I pointed these out to Mala and said, "some of these match Valerian's, but a few of them have some modifications. I walked down a few doors and then opened one of them. Inside the middle of the room was a large post surrounded by a few pairs of hanging cuffs. The rest of the room offered the usual array of toys though the bed was larger than normal.
"Here is one for someone who wants to watch a dance, or more correctly a patron who wishes to be made to dance. It is also for group activties," I informed her with a wink.

With a smile, I slipped my arm from his and began to wander around the room. Removing my gloves and tucking them away, I let my hands slide along the post, feeling the wonderful roughness that would leave splinters in any bare flesh pressed hard against it.
I looked up at the cuffs, having no problem imagining the wonderful dance of flesh that could be had here.
"This is marvelous," I said, feeling my blood begin to race a little.

I walked behind Mala, arms folded behind my back watching as she eyed the room. I looked around as she mentioned it was marvelous.
"Yes it is, I have had a few assignations in here. Though this room was already in use when I came of age. I helped to design a few of the other rooms."
I walked over to one of the cuffs hanging by Mala and pulled on it, causing the others to shake as if they where full of protesting bodies.
"That is if you are interested of course"

I circled around the post, then reached up and toyed with one of the cuffs.
"Do they make you get bound in your training?" I asked curiously. "Do they make you see what the other side is like?"

"They do in demonstration. They had volunteers in my class. They also show us, using dead animals, what kind of damage we can do if we are not knowlegable about our acts."
I thought for a moment and said, "I can understand why a person would be aroused by being tied up or given pain. Its adds an element of excitment they wouldn't have with more subtle methods. I found that I more easily take control than give it up, since I was offered a stay both here and Valerian."

"I was suppose to take over my family's small estate, due to my status as a first born. But, my love of trouble and fascination with pain lost me that intitlement. Which is why I was almost place in Valerian. I convinced them otherwise. I may have been able to lead that road, but not as well or with as much pleasure."
Then, walking over to Mala I held out a hand, "I don't want to bore you all day with my meanderings off my odd childhood, so instead I will show you the next room."

Having her fingers in mine was a comforting feeling, though I had not expected it to be so. I walked her out of that room, skipped a couple of rooms, than stopped at a door.
"This room," I told her, "has nothing overly unusual but it was strangley enough the room where I had my first and last assignation as an attached adept. I could show it if you like."

I opened the door and walked in with Mala. It was a basic room, but very well stocked. Many adepts chose it as their first room because it has a little bit of everything, including things they are not allowed to touch.
I walked with Mala around the room. The very center of it included a pair of restraints hanging from the ceiling. "These are made to be extra strong," I told her, "since an adept who does a good job will have a patron who can't stand afterword, rather it be they are weak in the knees or otherwise."
I remebered my first patron, who claimed she had never cried out in for a lover. I also remember the one who finished my marque, a first timer who seemed to have no limit to his tolerance.
"This is also the only room that does not feature a bed."

I let go of Idaeus's hand and began to prowl around the room. The scents of leather, wood and metal like a tonic on my soul.
"What was it like for you that first time, your first assignation?" I asked, stopping before a wooden kneeler, caressing the places where countless bodies had worn the wood smooth.
