"Hmmm," I pondered, "well I have always wanted to stop by the theatre and see a performance, or go to the palace's hall of games. I hear its rather fun. Have you been?"

“I meant look at to purchase, but we can check out those other places if you want,” I said with a laugh.

"Oh," I said with a laugh, "for myself? Well unless you want to play dress up with your poor brother," I said with a smile.

“I’d be more than happy to, or we can save it for another time if you’d rather,” I told him as we turned a corner.

I smiled and laughed softly. "I'll do it if it means I get to spend more time with you ," I said, reaching to muss her hair a little bit.

A shocked and displeased sound left me as he messed my hair.
“Luc!” I exclaimed, pulling away from him to stop and look in the window of a store to see how bad my hair looked. “You’re going to have me looking like a ragamuffin.”

I giggled... a manly one for certain, as I watched her put her hair back in order. "Oh... live a little," I said sticking out my tongue, laughing at the irony. I was the one who had been the stick in the mud. She was right, I needed to play a bit. That realization left me easier, lighter, terribly jovial. "Well whatever we do we ought to do something, really enjoy ourselves today," I said with a wink as I too looked into the window of a shop and plucked at my locks which were always a little dissheveled.

Getting my hair back into place, I wouldn’t have cared if I hadn’t spent extra time trying to look nice while I was out with him today, I then turned and slugged him in the chest. Not nearly as hard as I could, but enough to hurt.
“You’re never going to end up married if you don’t know not to mess up a woman’s hair when she’s taken the time to look good for you,” I said, then stuck my tongue out at him.
I glanced around at the shops and buildings around us. “And what do you suggest we do to really enjoy ourselves?”

I pouted softly as she punched me. For a girl she certainly was good at it. Then again, I knew that all too well. "I am sorry. Will the lady forgive me?" I asked as I gave her the sweetest, most innocent look I could muster, though I could not hold it long as I smiled. "Besides, we aren't looking a wife for me, nothing more committal than clothing," I said with a laugh. "And as for where to go... I ... don't know. I was hoping you would be teeming with ideas," I said in all truthfulness. "We could do the hall of games. I hear it is rather fun," I said with a smile.

"We can if that's where you want to go," I said. "I'll go to the perfumery another time. Shall we find the carriage?"

Ah the perfumery, I had almost forgotten! "No no! I'm sorry love I had almost forgotten.. no I suppose I had forgotten until you reminded me," I said slapping my forehead. "Let us go to the perfumery first. I've always wondered at that place," I said with a smile.

“No, it’s alright. I can go by myself another time,” I said, glancing around to see if perhaps our carriage had followed us.

I pointed across the street to where the carriage sat, waving over the driver before smiling down at Josette. "Alright, palace it is then?" I asked as he pulled away from the other side and started on his way over.

“Yes,” I said, keeping my disappointment to myself. I don’t know what had suddenly turned in him, but I didn’t want to fight any more. I’d thought we were spending the day together and the Hall of Games would be anything but time for us together. Ah well, another time I guess.

I smiled back at her as the driver pulled up. "Do you know how to play darts?" I asked her before telling the driver where we were off to and opening the door for her, offering my hand.

"Hmm," I said with a slight frown of disappointmnet, I had been hoping I could teach her then. I helped her into the carriage and then mounted into it myself, closing the door behind me as I sat across from her. "What else do you know how to play?" I asked, wondering if there was anything she wished to learn.

"Well I was hoping I might be able to teach you something while we were there," I said with a soft smile. "I should have known that you would have picked up these skills already," I explained.

“Teaching me doesn’t sound like the description of really enjoying yourself,” I said, glancing out the window as the city began to move by.

"I would have loved to teach you," I said with a smile. "I think it would have been fun. Mayhap we ought to change our destination?" I asked, wondering if she might wish to go to he perfumery afterall.

Looking back at him, my brow creased slightly. "What do you mean?" I asked, confused. "Do you want to go home?"

"No, not at all," I said with a smile, "I guess I just dont know what to expect of the place," I said with a chuckle, "I had been kind of banking on the idea that maybe you didnt know how to play darts. Any good place of games would have darts, so I figured it was a safe bet," I said with a smile, "I should have asked if you knew how to play first, that's what I get for assuming," I said with a short laugh.

I looked at him for a moment, then out the window as I thought. Things felt awkward suddenly.
“I think maybe I should head home,” I said softly, looking at him again. “Things feel like they have changed all of the sudden and I don’t feel like fighting again. Why don’t you go to the Hall of Games and see what it’s like. I can go ahead home.”

I frowned softly. That was not my intention at all, but she seemed to be picking up something that I apparently was not. I had never known her to be this.... hard to please.
"Are you sure that is what you want?" I asked, furrowing my brows in concern.

“No, it’s not what I really want Luc,” I said. “What I wanted was for us to have a day together having fun like we always have. We don’t seem to be able to manage that though in anything more than small spurts. We’d decided to go spend some more time together and suddenly you are suggesting we go somewhere else. Somewhere that will be as busy as a fete and we’ll barely be able to keep track of each other.” I could hear the hurt in my voice and as much as I hated it I couldn’t stop it. “I wanted to spend time with you, I miss you.” For the first time since coming to the city I felt incredibly homesick and wished we hadn’t come. “I guess things have just changed too much.”

"But I did not have intentions of leaving you when we went to the Palace, Josie, whether it was busy or not. I just figured we could have a few glasses of wine and play some darts, or cards or something, and look about. I don't know the place, so I did not think it would be so busy, busier than a fete, either way," I said, trying to explain to her my intentions. It seemed that regardless of my good intentions, I was still making a muck of things. "I figured what better place to have fun and spend time together. I did not know I would be wrong."

“My mistake then,” I whispered, leaning my head against the side of the carriage, wishing it was darker so he wouldn’t see the tears that ran down my cheeks.

I thought I saw a tear roll down her cheek and leaned forward to confirm that it was so. I sighed softly, knitting my brows together. "Oh Josette," I whispered softly, pulling out a handkerchief, "please don't cry," I whispered offering it to her, not wishing to try to wipe them myself and hurt her due to the josteling of the carriage.

I took his handkerchief and wiped my tears, but they continued to trickle down my cheeks. “Everything’s changed and it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t wanted to come to the city none of this would have happened. I never see you or Denis any more, and now when I do get time with you we’re fighting and almost strangers. I wish we’d never come, it’s not worth it.”
