She intensified the kiss, bitting at my lower lip, and I moaned as my finger curled into her back, but only for a moment before the hand and her chest pushed her backward and I broke the kiss. I smiled, my lips and face not far from her face as I chuckled a little. "You're not ready yet." I said softly against her lips and pulled back a little more, a grin on my face. I laid back down in the grass, my hand at her waist still and I let my fingers circle on her back absently. As I nestled into the grass a little I sighed contently, feeling stronger in my conviction to wait. I wanted Naia, that was for sure. But I wanted her to want me because she wanted me, not just because I was some one to fornicate with.

I was completely taken aback as he broke the kiss and laid back on the grass. He still held me, but differently. My eyes narrowed, not in anger, but in determination. So, he was a challenge indeed. I could play that game as well as any other, and in truth I was glad for the diversion it provided from my problems at home. I was at a loss for words, however, and so I simply said, "I suppose you'll let me know when I am?" My lips curved into a smile, as I anticipated how best to win at this new little puzzle he presented.

I chuckled as I looked up at her. "I won't have to tell you." I said with a little grin, my hand trailing up to her shoulder and pulled her to me so that she was laying next to me and a little on top of me. "You'll tell me." I teased vaguely as I looked at her.

I chuckled softly, allowing him to pull me into a closer position. I traced a finger across his chiseled jaw, smiling widely. "That almost sounds like a riddle, Maric." I grinned and looked up at him through my thick black lashes. "Did I also mention that I have a fondness for solving riddles?"

I looked up to her with a grin and then shifted quickly, rolling to ontop of her and laughed a little. "Is that so?" I asked, smiling as I rested on my elbow, my hand coming up to run my fingers through her hair, loving how it glided over my skin. "Then I'll just have to keep you perpetually stumped." I chuckled.

"Easier said than done." I laughed, wriggling underneath him lightly. "It will be interesting to see how you fare at that." I grinned, liking the anticipation of a challenge, something I think I'd gone too long without.

I chuckled softly as my hand reached up to her breast and caressed it firmly through her gown, pulling at her nipple through the fabric before releasing it. My hand returned to the ground and I gave her a playful grin. "Hmm, I think I'll manage." I murmured, kissing her lips quickly before pulling back onto my knees and then rocked onto my feet so that I was standing. "Its late, I think I should be getting home. Care to walk with me?"

I rolled my eyes as he grabbed my breast, and briefly pondered returning the gesture with a little groping of my own. No, that sort of thing would be expected, and I liked to try not to always do the expected thing.
Following suit, I rose with less grace than usual, picking grass out of my hair. "Why not?" I said, smiling as I straightened my skirts. "Lead the way, good sir."

I chuckled, she looked a little put off and I had to smile as I offered my arm to her. "I brought one of the horses from the estate, so I'll have to get him before we wander off." I said with a smile.

I nodded. "I have Chretienne, as well. We can get the horses and then ride back." I suggested, taking his arm. Now that we were on our way, I was already looking forward to having Chretienne under me again ... I never tired of riding him.

I smiled and nodded. "Sounds perfect to me." I said softly. "Tell me Naia, would you care to join me at the Salon of Eisheth's Harp some day soon?" I asked.

"That sounds lovely, I haven't been there as of yet." I'd heard of it, of course, but most of my social time since coming to the City had been in Night's Doorstep. If I were being honest, I was a bit intimidated by the upper echelons of society; through my birth I was one of them, but my experience was limited. Still, I could clean up well, and I would do so, when necessary.
We continued to walk back to the horses, and I could see that the shadows had lengthened without my noticing. The day was wearing on faster than usual. I felt the need to comment on it, so I said, "My, the afternoon has just flown by, hasn't it?"

I chuckled. "Time flies when you've having fun." I observed with a smile. We neared the front of the temple and I could see the attendants running off to grab our mounts.

"I suppose that's true." I said, tossing my hair over my shoulder while I waited for Chretienne to appear. I was anxious to be riding again, to feel the wind in my hair, even if we would be riding at a sedate pace. I tapped my foot impatiently; I hoped that Chretienne wasn't biting anyone ... he could be an ill-tempered brute with anyone but me.

I watched her and chuckled but looked forward as the horses came toward us. "Is that your beast?" I asked with a grin. He certainly looked like a Tsingani horse.

"That it is." I said, beaming with pride. Chretienne might not be the best horse in the world, but he was mine, the only thing I'd ever really had of my own. I looked to Maric's horse and smiled, adding, "And that is a nice horse you have as well, I see your father spared no expense."

I chuckled as I looked at her. "Thank you, but that's not my horse. Its just one that I borrowed from the estate. Ramsang had a heavy work out yesterday so I gave him the day off." I said smiling.

"Hmm," I said, my eyes roving over my own lovely beast. "It's a nice horse, nonetheless." Truly I had eyes for no other than Chretienne, and the other horse could have been a mule for all I noticed, but I did at least try to be polite. "Shall we, then?" I said, though I didn't wait for an answer before approaching my horse and patting his nose softly. He whuffed at me, and I knew what he wanted. "Oh you silly boy, of course I have something for you..." I kissed his nose while I dug into one of my pockets for a piece of apple. I always carried them with me if I had Chretienne, as he was shamelessly spoiled. "Here you are, love." I gave him the treat with more tenderness than I'd ever shown another living creature. With that, I patted him again once, and then walked around to his side, placing one foot in the stirrup and swinging the other his broad back with a practiced ease and I was ready to ride.

I watched her and chuckled, to my self more then anything, but it was an interesting sight. She looked beautiful, more beautiful that I had thought was possible. I wanted more opportunities to get to know this ravishing beast. I walked to my own horse and mounted fluidly, settling myself in my saddle as I looked at her and pressed my heals into my ride's flank, kicking him forward into a trot.

I followed suit, content as I always was when on Chretienne's back. We left the Sanctuary of Kushiel at a trot, and I admit I felt lighter for leaving the place. The God's presence seemed to weigh at me, and I was happy to leave it behind. In an effort to lighten my own mood, which had suddenly become introspective, I attempted conversation.
"So, where do you abide?" I wondered if we lived near each other.

"West borough, you?" I answered as I easily sat the smooth trot of my mount. As much as I loved Ramsang, this gelding was growing on me, he was so simple to ride and it made me feel relaxed.

"East." I said, smiling. I felt much more at ease now that I was on Chretienne's back. "Well, at least we may go part of the way together."

I smiled softly and nodded. "Indeed." I said as I slowed my mount to a walk as we hit the streets themselves. "What's your sister's title?" I asked curiously.

"Baroness." I answered, trying not to seem sour. Why should Sarielle get the title when I'd done all the suffering? No matter, I told myself, I didn't want the responsibility that went along with the title anyhow. "Nothing special." I added, with just a hint of venom in my tone.

I raised a brow, it wasn't obvious, but there was a distaste in the way she spoke. "Hmm." Was my response for the moment. "Do you have any asperations at court?" I asked curiously. "A Duc or a Prince perhaps?" I teased a little.

I rolled my eyes and laughed softly. "Oh no, not I. I have a feeling my 'lifestyle' would be frowned upon at Court... and I well enjoy doing what I want, when I want, without the public scrutiny." I shook my head, still chuckling. "I mean, I've been here awhile and no one has even noticed. Try that with a Duc or a Prince!"

"Actually, I've been fairly tame thus far." I said with a grin. "Only one night of hard drinking, gambling, and ... other things." I flushed at the memory of Gadleon and I in the alley. "What about you, have you been into any sort of trouble since coming here?" Somehow he didn't seem the type, but I knew better than anyone that looks could be deceiving.

"A coward?" I asked, raising a brow. He certainly didn't strike me as a coward, and I was surprised to hear him say so. "Afraid of the actual antics, or the repercussions that follow? Or both?" I said, grinning at him. The idea of getting him into some 'antics' was starting to sound like more fun all the time.
