I raised a brow at his sudden silence and grinned. "Oh, don't hide behind dessert! Please, do tell... how would I look good?" I was almost afraid to ask, but infinitely curious about what he was going to say. "Don't worry, you can say it, I won't bite." I laughed then, and added, "Much."

"Well, my mind tends to think on a myriad of levels at once," I said, trying to explain. "And many of these levels include the less savoury thoughts. Well.... there could have been any number of responses to that. I suppose the main one was 'underneath me', but I couldn't bear to voice it. It must make me sound like a sex-crazed pig of a man.... or maybe just a man in general," I said with a soft smile.

I laughed out loud, guffawed really, he was hilarious. "Oh Blessed Elua..." I gasped. "Yes, that is a quintessentially male response." Pulling myself back into some semblance of seriousness, I continued. "I have to admit, though, I'm sure I would look good underneath you." I waggled my eyebrows at him suggestively.

My lips twitched into a smile. "Not if you keep doing that ridiculous business with your brows, my dear. But, maybe if you ask nicely," I said, waggling my own brows at her. I laughed softly. "I can't remember the last time I laughed so much. You make good company Sophine." I leaned forward, tucking a errant curl behind her ear. Then, leaning back in my seat, I took another bite of the dessert.

I waggled my brows in an even more pronounced manner. "Like this, you mean?" I giggled as he tried it as well. We were still getting looks, and I was wondering how long it would be before we were "escorted" out. It made me think of Sandrine, for some reason.
"Well, thank you, Luc, I have to say the same for you." I smiled more softly as he tucked one of my curls behind my ear. I liked the way his hand felt, and the way his eyes smiled just as much as his mouth. If I had to choose one word to describe Luc, it would be happy. Simple, yet something so few people managed to achieve. It was infectious, and I knew that I had made a friend for life.
"I'm really glad my brother suggested I write you." I confessed, somewhat shyly, taking another small bite of our dessert.

I laughed. "Ah you didn't do this on your own? He had to twist your arm that badly, hmm?" I chuckled. "Do I live up to it?" I asked, taking another bite.

"Oh, I wouldn't say he twisted my arm." I chuckled, shaking my head. "No, he simply said he thought we'd get on famously and since I didn't see you much at my fete I should make an effort to spend some time with you." I grinned. "And you more than live up to it; I'm having a wonderful time."

"I aim to please, lovely lady," I said with a nod, my hand going through my hair as I ducked my head. "I am having an amazing time with you as well," I said, my hand still in my hair as I looked up at her. "So, did you have anything else planned for the rest of the day?"

I shook my head, taking a last bite of dessert. "No, it's a lazy day. I try to have at least one day a week where I don't have any lessons or chores or what have you. No responsibilities, I should say." I leaned back and patted my stomach, which was stuffed. "I might need the rest of the day to recuperate from this delicious lunch."

I laughed as she leaned back, looking rather full. "Well then I am glad you enjoyed the fare. Don't forget to tell Dyan that when you ate, you had a salad, which you only picked at demurely, while yo ulistened to me prattle on and on about me, myself and I. Everyone must be pleased," I said with a soft chuckle. I was quite done, myself, though I knew in a few hours I would be hungry yet again. "And where do you usually laze about?"

I giggled, it was as if he read my mind! "Now, how did you know what I was going to tell her? Have you heard this drill before?" Looking at his handsome face, I was sure he had.
"As to where I go to laze about, well, I haven't been here long enough to have any habitual places to go. Do you have anything to recommend?" I hoped so, I didn't want lunch to be over, and thus our time together.

I laughed. "No, most women don't have older sister's who wish to turn them into perfect little dolls," I said jokingly. "And as for suggestions... well... it is the City, after all. There's the City square, there's the Palace gardens and library, the game's room, there's Night's Doorstep, though I would not let you go there unaccompanied," I said, squaring my shoulders and deepening my voice, then settling back down I laughed. "There's shopping and art here in the Artisan's District," I listed. "Mont Nuit...," I waggled my brows at this last suggestion. "Anything sound interesting?"

I laughed as he listed the places in the City, complete with adorable facial expressions. "Let's see..." I said, thinking over the list. "I've already been to Mont Nuit, and the Palace, and a few other places here in the Artisan's district... what about Elua's Square? It seems like something I should see, don't you think?" I wanted to ask him to accompany me, but I didn't know if that was too forward. Oh, to hell with it, I thought. "Perhaps you can accompany me?"

I smiled, though there really wasn't much to the square. "Well, it's just the centre o fthe City with a big tree. But it is nice, good for afternoon discussion, or fawning." I said as I tilted my head. "And of course I will accompany you. Had you not invited me too, I would have asked, and had you said no, I probably would have followed, regardless," I said with a wide smile.

"Oh really?" I said with a grin. "You would have stalked me all the way to the square?" I took my napkin from my lap and laid it on the table, the universal sign to waitresses everywhere that we were finished. "Well, it's a good thing I saved you from such a fate by inviting you along. Truth be told, it doesn't sound like something that would be very interesting by oneself, does it?"

"Not unless you are either very good at carrying on a conversation with yourself, or making friends with pigeons," I said with a smile as the waitress made her way over to our table. Something told me that she was eager to get us out of the establishment, even though I had become somewhat of a regular here. I wondered at why people had such trouble just having fun in public. Was it that taboo?
She placed a bill in front of me, and I took it up, reaching for the coins in the purse that hung at my waist, procuring the amount, and a little extra for her troubles, before placing both on the side of the table.
"Would you prefer by leg or by carriage?" I asked, returning my gaze to Sophine's.

I waited as Luc paid for lunch, then answered his question with a smile. "We should walk; after a dessert like that I'd better get some exercise or I shall be as big as a house." It was an absurd thing to say; I was almost too thin, in my opinion anyway.
I rose, smoothing my skirt and holding out my arm for him. "Shall we?"

Rising after she did, a wide smile on my lips, I took her hand. "Yes, lets," I said with a soft laugh as I guided us out the doors. "I should probably let the driver know where we are off to, unless you don't mind me walking or carrying you home, depending on how tired you get, or how long I keep you out, or..." I stopped there, biting my tongue before I voiced the next option that had popped into my head.

I was afraid to ask what he was about to say, so I let it pass, just grinning at him. "Of course, I don't suppose we will want to walk all over the City, after all." Especially considering that I was still too new to understand the distances involved. "Maybe I'll be the one to carry you home." I teased.

We had been in the cafe for a while, and so when we exited the carriage was off to the side, waiting. I walked over to it, Sophine's arm in mine, and explained to the driver that we would be walking to Elua's Square, and he should be somewhere around there in a little while. He nodded in understanding, and started up the horses. I turned towards Sophine, looking down at her. "Well then, let us explore." I led us in the opposite direction that the carriage had gone in, walking leisurely down the walk.
"And just for the record, I doubt you could lift me."

I waited patiently while Luc gave the carriage driver instructions and then we began our walk. "Oh," I laughed in response to his words, "I could at least drag you!"
The day was fine, and there were quite a few people out on the street. The Artisan's District was filled with fine shops and eateries, and as we walked, I felt for the first time that I was really a part of the city, not simply a visitor. I was happy, and not even a little bit homesick for Kusheth. It would always hold a special place in my heart, but the City of Elua was my home now.
I was holding Luc's arm, and I let my hand slide down to his hand, lacing my fingers with his. I knew Dyan would have said I was too forward, but I was more comfortable with Luc than I had ever been with anyone, and it just felt like the right thing to do.

Her retort made me smile. "Mayhap I will let you try, but I still say it is doubtful."
We continued walking through the Artisan District and I felt her arm slip down mine, and her fingers intertwine with my own. I smiled, looking down at her. Her skin was so smooth, so soft, and I let my thumb caress hers gently. It sent a thrill through me, when she did these small things, made the forward moves that surprised me. Looking down at her as we walked, I had the sudden urge to stop and kiss her, but I fought it back... at least for now.
Looking around, we were still in the Artisan District. It was very large, and usually very busy. There were people mulling about, in and out of stores, bargaining at small merchants' booths over trinkets and material. Looking across the street, I spied Dorval's place, where I worked. I pointed with my free hand.
"I apprentice there. I figured I should point it out in case you ever have the need to follow me through the streets of the City," I said with a laugh as I looked down at her.

I looked where he pointed, as we wandered the Artisan's District. I was enjoying holding his hand, and the nearness of him. I felt so perfectly at home with Luc; it was unlike anything I'd experienced before.
"Ah, so now I know where to have my woodworking needs met." I laughed. "You know, in case I need more wood."

I blushed softly, he had me there, though I wasn't about to let him know it. "Hmph. I think you would be hard-pressed to keep up with me." I gave his hand a squeeze, then winked at him.

I laughed, scoffing as she winked at me. I turned us down the next street, not as busy as the last, nor as wide, but still lined with stores and merchant stalls. "Well, Sophine," I said in the most seductive voice I could muster, deep yet soft, "there is only one way to find out."

I felt the blush creeping hotly up my neck. When would I learn to keep my big mouth shut? "Now, what do you think my brother would say about that?" I laughed, trying to deflect the subject to a safer place. What could be safer than talking about my brother?

I laughed, looking ahead of us. "He would have probably been laughing at the whole exchange, so long as he didn't think me serious. Then he would be hard put to protecting your virtue."
