Friends. I smiled widely, I was happy to making friends already. I got into the carriage and then answered Raegan's question. "In the West Borough. Once we get a little closer, I can point out the way. Sorry those probably aren't the most precise directions." I grimaced. "I'm still getting the hang of the City."

“It’s alright, like I said I am still learning,” I said, chuckling. I gave the driver directions and then we were off.

The carriage ride was nice and relaxing and I was beginning to think it was going to be time for a nap when I got home. I blinked a few times and then smiled at Raegan. "I can't wait to put out my new things, how about you?"

“I’ve been redecorating in my head since I bought the painting,” I admitted with a laugh.

I laughed with her, though I had to admit I was just the opposite. "I was so taken by the singing and juggling that I have hardly given a thought as to where I'm going to put things." I reached up to touch an errant lock of hair behind my ear. "Although, since I'm only working with one room, it can't be that difficult, right?"

“True,” I agreed, laughing. I noticed that we’d reached the West Borough. “Where to from here?”

I looked out the window and quickly surveyed the scenery, orienting myself. "We're close, actually. I pointed at the upcoming intersection. "A right turn here, then the next left and that's my street."

I leaned out the window a little to call the directions to my driver and then sat back.
“This is a nice area,” I commented.

I glanced out the window again at Raegan's comment,. Then nodded. "Yes, I suppose so, though I haven't seen much else to compare it to." I pondered for a moment, then added,"It's odd for me still to see all of these homes so close together. In Kusheth, it was miles to the next estate."

“I’m still not used to it,” I said, shaking my head. “I miss the country.”

I nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly. "The City is exciting, but there's something to be said for wide open spaces, long rides on the beach, and knowing everyone in a five-mile radius." Here I was, all of sixteen and already waxing nostalgic.

"Thanks," I said with a wry grin, "occasionally I can turn a phrase." I chuckled, "My tutors would be proud."

We turned left onto her street as I chuckled. “Yes, your tutors would be very proud,” I said, smiling.

I craned my neck out the window and looked down the street. "That's my house, the blue one with the all the rose bushes in front." That described several of the houses on the block, in actuality, but mine was easily recognizable by my sister standing in the yard with her arms crossed and an angry look on her face. "Looks like Dyan beat me home." I said with a sigh.

After I instructed my driver, I looked at Sophine. “You can blame me if you wish, say I kept you out longer than you realized.”

I shook my head. "That's very sweet, but it's okay. I know how to handle Dyan. Besides if I do that, she might think you're a bad influence, and then we won't get to see each other again." I paused for a second, then grinned. "Unless I sneak out, of course."

I laughed at the idea of me as a bad influence. Timid, shy me. It was amusing.
“Well, I hope you don’t get into too much trouble,” I said as the carriage pulled to a stop.

"Oh, Dyan is all bark and no bite." I laughed a little, but truth be told, I knew I was going to get yelled at and I wasn't looking forward to it. It was kind of a game between us, and really the only relationship we knew with each other. "Well, here we are, I suppose." I was reluctant to get out of the carriage, but I couldn't sit there all day! "Thank you for the ride, and everything else too. I hope we can see each other again?"

“Oh I hope so, it has been a lot of fun,” I said, smiling. I leaned over and hugged her. “Thank you for bumping into me, friend.”

I smiled and hugged her back. "It's nice to have a friend here in the City." I said, giving her a little squeeze before leaning back. "Thank you again." I sighed. "Here goes nothing!" Opening the carriage down, I got out and gave Raegan a little wave before steeling myself to face Dyan, who was giving me the evil eye but otherwise waiting for Raegan to be out of sight before berating me.

I returned Sophine’s wave and then the carriage pulled away, taking me home. I really did hope she didn’t get into too much trouble, I hoped to see her again.
