"You're welcome," I said. "How about you, what do you think about people?"

I cocked my head a little to the side. "I think I make individual judgments on people, and reserve it until I've seen their actions. I have been burned too often to be entirely optimistic, so I'd rather like to think that I'm cautious."

"Hmm," I said, smiling. "I hope you have been generous in your judgment of me."

I smiled. "I believe I have," I replied teasingly.

"Is it a secret?" I asked mischievously, picking up a peach and taking a bite.

"Well, so many thoughts are felt, and how can one properly express a feeling?" I asked in return, finishing off the last bite of my sandwich.

"Ah, but that is the beauty of language," I said, eyes twinkling. "We have so many words perfectly designed to express feeling." I took another bite, chewed and swallowed. "I won't pry further, if it's against your wishes, though."

I chuckled. "I'm sorry, I like to dance around questions, sometimes I won't even realize that I'm doing it," I replied with a smile. "I like you Benedict, you're sweet. And I think you'll do well in life."

"Now I'm blushing," I said, hiding my face in mock embarrassment. "I like you too, Fiona, I like talking to you."

"Glad to hear that I'm at least mildly amusing," I replied with self-deprecating humour. "Though you never struck me as particularly modest."

I looked up from my silly posing, giving her a rakish grin. "I'd like to think I've reached a happy medium between modest and vain," I said.

"I'm Azzallese remember," I said with a grin. "We take great pride in our pride. If you called me modest, I'd be insulted," I jested.

I laughed at that. "Well, we Camaelines are no shrinking violets either," I said. "Honorable men and the fiercest of women, that's our noble heritage."

"So I have heard," I said with an amused grin from the direction this conversation had gone. "I can quite imagine that crossing a Camaeline woman would be just as dangerous as crossing an Azzalese woman."

I laughed. "I'm afraid I have yet to compare," I said. "Perhaps you can give me an idea of the dangers of crossing an Azzallese woman."

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," I quoted with a grin. "But the author of those words forgot to mention that the fury of a prideful woman is even worse."

"Then I shall take the utmost care never to scorn you, nor do anything that might cause you upset," I said. "I would hate to have your fury directed at me."

I chuckled. "Wise man. I'm afraid I don't like myself when I'm angry, and I'm sure others don't like me either," I said with a grin.

"I feel the same way," I said. "I'm pretty slow to anger, but once I am angry..." I trailed off. "I can get very unpleasant."

"Agreed," I said. I looked up at the sun. "By Elua, we've been here for nearly two hours!" I looked to her. "Are you ready to go back?"

I began to put containers back into the basket. "I know we just had lunch, but I am expected home for supper, so we both better go."

I helped him clean up, the work going quickly with the both of us. "Your entire family is living in the City?" I asked.

"Yes, my parents and my brother," I replied with the soft smile that I always got when I thought of my family. Our lunch packed up, I headed to my mount to get her ready for the ride back.

"Thank you," I said with a soft smile for his help, then answered his question. "Very much so. I'm quite close to them. Letters just aren't the same, even when I hear from them often."
