"Heck, you might change your mind after the first," I said with a laugh. "Giving birth is not the most fun thing in the world."

“Don’t say things like that,” I said, making a face at her and then chuckling. “I’m sort of committed at this point.”

I laughed. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be negative."

“Negative I can handle, just don’t scare me,” I said, laughing.

"Alright, no more scaring, I promise," I said, raising my hand with a laugh.

"Thank you," I said, chuckling. "And i promise not to scare you with the truth when it's your turn."

I laughed. "Oh good. Now I just need to find a man."

“Perhaps I should make that my next project, finding you a man,” I teased.

"Oh please no. My mother is already on that task," I said, shaking my head at my mother's foolishness.

“But who would find you a better match, me or your mother?” I asked, grinning.

"You, but don't tell her that," I said with a laugh. "She's having great fun trying to embarrass me in front of every man in Namarre with expectant introductions."

“She’s decided you can only marry a man from Namarre? That’s rather limiting,” I chuckled.

"I think she's starting with the families she knows well and branching out from there. She was so disappointed that Gratien and I didn't work out." I said the words carefully, deliberately focusing my mind on staying happy and positive.

I could have made several comments about Gratien, but I kept them to myself. It was still too raw a subject.
“Perhaps I should throw a dinner, invite a large group of appropriate men and then you as the only female, that way you could just pick for yourself,” I teased.

I laughed. "Don't you dare. I have enough trouble flirting with one man, much less an entire roomful."

“Oh, but you wouldn’t have to flirt, they’d be putty in your hands,” I replied, grinning wide. “Yes, I think that will be just the thing. You should wear something low cut and scandalous.”

"I will," I replied with a smile. "If anything, we need to find a court function that I want to attend."

"I haven't heard of anything coming up in the next couple of weeks," I said. "I was hoping you had."

“I hope that’s it and this isn’t a permanent state now,” I replied with a smile. “I seem to be more forgetful each day.”

Smiling, and still touched by her words, I reached out and squeezed her hand. “Thank you,” I said again. “And I feel the same way about you.”
