The townhouse set aside for the Duc of Siovale had been dusty when I arrived. Apparently with Sly gone the servants had left the house to its own devices, more worried about the arrangements for the body. I didn't mind but for the next few days, it wasn't fit to host company. So when I arranged to meet Princess Phreya, it was over tea at the Cour de la Chancellerie, not at my new home.
I arrived a few minutes earlier than we had agreed upon, but I wanted to see the place before I was distracted by politics and beautiful women. I was soon settled at a table on the terrace outside, garden on three sides and the glass windows leading to the rest of the tea house on the other.

Another Sovereign and another meeting to introduce myself and pledge fealty to another strange face. I had sighed as I dressed in Montrève colours then even more so when I mounted into the carriage that had Montrève's crest blazen on the side. It wasn't anything in particular that made me sigh, perhaps more so the fact that the plague had taken yet another life.
My gown was green with brown trimmings, the bodice tight and cut low with lace trimmings in brown across the breast. The fabric was lighter as it was coming to be summer and the skirt swished between my legs as my footman helped me down from the carriage.
I walked a little ways before searching out the new Duc de Siovale.

I had dressed well, especially for me. And still I felt underdressed in the olive green vest and breeches, cream linen shirt beneath, when I saw the princess through the glass. I had seen her once before, I couldn't recall where, though we had never been introduced. She was a year younger than I, if I recalled correctly.
I saw a servant direct her to my table, and stood and bowed as she approached. "Your highness, it is a pleasure."

I smiled upon seeing the new Duc. Handsome no? Very much so. I curtsied. "Your Grace, the pleasure is mine." I inclined my head a little but kept my eyes on him.
"Shall we sit?" I said once I righted myself.

She didn't take her eyes off of mine, rather like a duelist as they bowed to their opponent. I wasn't really surprised at the challenge, most saw me as a lord of Camlach, not Siovale.
"Of course your highness," I replied, going around to hold her chair for her.

I chuckled a little to myself as he pulled out my chair and I sat down scooting forward and waited for him to sit. "Have you ordered anything?" I asked curiously, my eyes taking him in and wondering how the mantle of Sovereign came to rest on his shoulders.

I sat, arranging the sword at my side with familiar ease.
"I was waiting on my lady's pleasure," I replied with a smile. I knew enough to be politic. Pissing off royalty was almost as bad as pissing off your commander. "Have you been here before?"

I smiled a little. "How kind." I said softly. "No, I haven't had the pleasure. Though I've heard good things." I looked around for a moment and then back at Lucien. He was...well quite handsome, I wondered what the thought of becoming Sovereign Duc. I wondered a lot about this stranger. "Have you been here before?"

"No but like you, I heard good things when I inquired for a place to take beautiful ladies that I wanted to impress," I said, then grinned unabashedly. I couldn't help but flirt mildly with the princess, for she was indeed a very fine looking woman.

I bit my inside lower lip as I stifled a grin, though the corners of my mouth turned up a little. "And do you impress often your grace?" I asked letting a bit more of a smile show.

"Far less often than I try," I replied with another grin. The look on her face was worth a little self-deprecating flirting, the smile that was trying to hide in the corners of her mouth making her appear more approachable.

His grin was so flirtatious that I allowed myself a touch more of a grin, letting one side rise a little higher. "Perhaps if you try more, you'd have better results." I observed raising a brow ever so slightly. He was handsome, in his own way, something I couldn't deny. I am D'Angeline after all.

"I've had very little opportunity your highness," I replied with a smile. "They try to keep such noble beauty from us soldiers, probably knowing we could only gape in amazement."

I chuckled then, unable to hide the amusement. "Well then, I should oblige by allowing you to practice on me." I said raising a brow to him. "Then perhaps you will not be forced to gape in amazement."

"Beauty only matched by kindness," I said with another grin, chuckling at the look on her face as she cocked a brow at me. "I'm a lucky man."

I was caught between desire and propriety, after being in Montrève for so long and having no lovers during that time...Oh Namaah, I hadn't had the touch of a man in some time. I was eager to jump across the table take him there, make him take me! My chest flushed with desire and I was more then eager to let him see.
"You could be luckier." I said softly, I almost whispered them then called over the server and asked for a pitcher of water for the table.

My brows raised in surprise, though she gave me ample time to recover by calling the waiter over. I was just not used to ladies of her stature suggesting such things to me. Tavern girls yes, princesses no. Though that look in her eyes had been lusty enough to do any wench proud.
Unless she was playing me. I was raised to be a lord of a small holding, not play politics with the realms finest. I was definitely feeling out of my depth if I was questioning such a proposal. "Some tea as well your highness?" I asked, focusing on the little I did know, like the fact that we were in a teahouse.

He seemed a little taken back by my comment and I couldn't help but smile, widely, chuckling a little. "I'd love some tea your grace." I said inclining my head to him. "Will you pick for us?" I crossed my legs and clasped my hands in my lap pressing my arms together allowing the delicate swell of my breast to show.

"Of course. Though if it pleases your highness, I much prefer to go by Lucien. 'Your grace' is going to take some getting used to." I grinned crookedly.
I took a second to scan the card that held the tea list. "Peppermint please. And some biscuits or some such," I requested of the waiter and he bowed, returning a moment later to fill our glasses with water before going off to fetch the tea and goodies.

"Lucien." I said softly. "What about Baron?" I asked raising a brow. "You're from Camlach correct?" I wondered about him a little, how a Baron from Camlach could end up Duc of all Siovale.

"Yes I am. But my father fell only a year ago, even that title seems a bit odd. If you really want to get my attention, 'Capitaine Clairmont' is your best bet." I smiled again then shrugged. "But I prefer less formality if I'm off the field."

"So Capitaine Clairmont," I said raising a brow and leant onto the table, I quite enjoyed this title of his, I always had a soft spot for the militia. "I suppose this is the point where I pledge fealty to you and your house." I smiled wryly.

She leaned forward, the lace accenting the delightful swell of her breasts as she did so. I tried not to stare, I prided myself in being more of a gentleman than that. But gods she was luscious.
"If you'd like," I said with an easy smile, eyes fixed on her face. "Protocol dictates that I should hear it sooner of later."

I thought for a moment, sooner or later eh? I flashed a grin to him. "I think mayhap later would work better for me." I said leaning in a little further, pillowing my bosom against my arms and making them push up a little higher. "Some where a bit more private perhaps?" I whispered raising a brow, almost in challenge, and then lent back as the tea arrived to be placed in front of us.

Camael! I was in trouble of the best kind. I hadn't meant the comment in the way she took it, at least not consciously. But I couldn't help the quick glance down at that décolletage as she put it on display even more. I was a man, not a Casseline.
We both leaned back when the waiter returned with the tea and a plate carrying slices of what appeared to be a lemon loaf. I waited until he was gone again before replying to the woman across the table. "As your highness wishes. I certainly wouldn't mind spending further time in your lovely company." I smiled.

I smiled and thanked the server before turning my attention back to Lucien. "I'm not always lovely company, my lord." I teased as I poured some sugar into my tea and then licked my lips slowly, perhaps some what suggestively, before bringing the cup to my mouth. I sipped it slowly, my eyes staying on Lucien as I sipped. "Tell me more about yourself," I said after a moment. "I made sure to dig up as much dirt on you as possible, but I must confess I wish to hear it from the horses mouth."

I didn't add anything to my tea, but was more than willing to watch her doctor her own. Oh yes, trouble with a capital T.
I thought for a second on how best to answer her question, and settled on a short history. It was one of the one ways to explain my view on the world. "I was raised in Clairmont, in Camlach, with lots of cousins to run around with. I fostered with my mother's side in Siovale, which inspired me to connect with my scholarly side." That I said with a smile. "But it wasn't enough to convert me fully, and I joined the army quickly enough to fight in Khebbel-im-Akkad." I kept the smile on my face, but it became harder. It was never easy for me to speak of the war.

I nodded. "How long were you there for?" I asked curiously. I knew there were a few that went with the first installment before returning home for leave, but there were others that stayed for the whole conflict. Flirtation aside, I enjoyed Lucien's company so far, he was nice and almost...sweet? But there was a strength in him that was comforting and strong.

"I was in the second wave, and stayed for the remainder of the campaign," I replied, trying not to remember the sand flying in the air as we fought, the look on his face as he lay there dying. He was but a boy, and I had killed him. He was the one victory that would always haunt me.
"But this is much too dark a subject to be aired on such a fine day," I said, braving another smile. "Why don't you tell me of yourself instead?"

"Forgive me, I shouldn't have brought it up." I said softly and gave a saddened smile then nodded.
"Theres not much to tell," My smile turned flirtatious once more as I took another sip of tea. "I was raised in Montreve where I was given a Siovalese upbringing, as was my father's hope." I shrugged a little as I placed down my cup. "After that I've had an uneventful life, unless you've heard otherwise." I teased.
