"I can imagine. Perhaps I will get the chance to see them one day," I said, smiling softly.

"Oh, there are always some in the City," I replied. "The Gardens sell them for funds as well as people who keep their own for the same reason."

Inwardly, I chuckled, wondering if he had just not got my meaning or if he was ignoring it on purpose.
"Then I shall have to buy some as soon as I get the vase all situated."

It was not in my nature to look for meanings beyond what the obvious one would be- it was too much guessing, too much paranoia and sorrow the only outcome. "If you do come to Alyssum perhaps I can get some cuttings for you," I offered shyly.

"That is very kind," I told him, smiling more. "I may wait until spring for that though, since I don't have a greenhouse to keep them safe in."

"Well, you coudl always just keep them in a warm place, like a kitchen mantle," I explained carefully, not wanting to seem pushy. "Or just get a few blooms for the vase."

The proprietor was making signs that he was ready to conclude the sale. I leaned in closer to LaValle so as to say softly, "Honestly, I would rather wait for another day to visit Alyssum so as to have an excuse to talk to you again."
Smiling, I went over to pay for my items.

Flushing more deeply yet I watched him, eyes at the ground even as I smiled softly. "he wanted to talk to me more! It was flattering to be under such kind and gentle attention.

Paying for the items, I arranged to have them delivered to my home.
Returning to LaValle, I held open the door for him. "I would like to repay you for helping find such lovely things. Could I buy you a cup of tea or something else?" I asked.

"Tea would be nice, but I really didn't do much," I told him modestly.

"You did plenty, and I would like to thank you for it," I said as we walked out into the sun again.
"There's a nice tea shoppe just around the corner, shall we?"

With a simple inclination of my head I nodded in the affirmative, walking beside him and trying to keep from fainting at amazement in my luck.

I walked beside him in comfortable silence, rather happy to just to have more time to talk to him. I found him fascinating and enchanting.
"After you," I said with a smile, holding open the door to the tea shoppe.

Smiling slightly and catching his eyes for a moment I stepped in, then waited for him.

My smile widened as he caught my eyes, and then I followed him in. A waitress showed us to a table, leaving us each a menu of their selections.
"Have you ever been here before?" I asked him.

Holding my own menu and looking over it I shook my head. "i'm afraid I don't really get outside my House much," I confessed. "I won't say that every Alyssum is a homebody, but a good number of my Housemates prefer the comfort of familiar surroundings for most things."

"I can understand that," I said, glancing at the menu and deciding on what I wanted. "I spend almost all of my time at Désir or at home, there is something very nice about being somewhere familiar."

"yes, there is- but there is also something nice in being able to accept the new, I would say," I replied gently.

"True, but I must admit to being a bit of a homebody myself. I spend so much time with crowds of people that a lot of the time I just long to be at home, where it is quiet," I told him.

"A quiet home is a blessing," I agreed. "People are always suprised that Alyssum is so with so many people living there."

"I find quiet is a function of the people themselves, not the number of people. One person can be louder than a crowd," I said.

"I suppose it would be possible, though I've never seen it. You must, though, with spending so much time in Desir."

Chuckling, I told him, "I hope for your sake you never meet one of those loud people, they are horrid to be around."
The waitress came to take our order, and I motioned for LaValle to go first.

Smiling slightly I ordered a cup of a simple, strong brew and then looked to Plaisir, waiting to see what he ordered. Such things could tell you a lot about a person.

"It would be fine," I told him with a slight smile. "I can't promise I won't blush or be confused, depending on the nature of the question, but I will answer to the best of my ability."

"I promise to try and not ask anything that makes you blush or be confused," I told him, smiling. "I was just curious about you, if you had grown up at Alyssum, if you had family. General things like that."

"I came to Alyssum when I was eight," I told him. "And I do have a family, a mother, stepfather and stepbrothers, though I've never met my natural father. What about yourself?"

"I was born here in the City," I told him, leaning back comfortably in my chair. "My parents still live here, and I am an only child."

Cocking my head sideways I gently considered his words, letting my thoughts float over them rather than concentrating deeply. "In Alyssum, we are each other's family."
