My eyes crinkled in solid amusement at her question, and I sat back from pouring, tucking the linen towel 'round the bottle to ensure it wouldn't fall off as I set it down. "Well," I mused, "I enjoy riding a great deal, as well as fencing - or as much of it as Jasmine will allow me to learn. Sketching can be fun, though I'm afraid my masterpieces consist mainly of stick figures and simple outlined trees."
Taking my glass in hand, I waited with House-driven instincts for Leyna to take the first drink, not even realizing what I did. "That is, of course, after holding down floors and saving scullery maids."

"That's the sign of a true hero, saving princesses and scullery maids alike," I pointed out, smiling.
I raised my glass in toast. "To Troy no' Jasmine, my hero this day," I said, smiling more and then taking a sip of the wine.

She had a wonderful sense of humor, and I couldn't help but give a low laugh when she toasted me.
"And to Lovely Leyna," I said, raising my own glass and tilting the rim but a fraction towards her, "Fair princess of the realm, and heir-apparent of an astounding level of wit." Bringing my thin glass to my lips, I took a drink, thinly masking an amused smile.

"Thank you," I said, chuckling and inclining my chin slightly. "And you were right, this wine is delicious."

"I'm glad you like it," I said, setting my glass back upon the table. "I'm generally not a big fan of whites; the deeper reds generally suit my taste more."

"My taste varies on my mood and what I'm eating if I'm having wine with a meal," I said, taking another sip and then leaning back in my seat. "Tell me more about you, I feel I should know more about my savior."

The table was, thankfully, high enough for me to cross one ankle over my knee, and I leaned back as I did so, letting one arm run along the edging of the booth. "There's not a whole lot to say," I commented, thinking on her question. "My family packed me up by the age of ten to come to the City, and begged Jasmine to take me in."
Watching her for a quiet moment, I gauged silently how much to divulge in our first, and perhaps last, meeting. She'd been nothing but honest and friendly to me, though, and I decided inevitably that I would show her nothing but the same. "It was rumored my mother had lain with another man, and that I was not truly my fathers. My parents both denied it, and my father took action more than once, but the talk persisted and they moved me away from it before I could learn to bear scars." A fleeting smile crossed my lips, and I took hold of my wine glass, failing to drink. "It was good in the end, for now I sit with you over fine wine, rather than plucking fields and hoeing gardens. It's noble, but not what I wish to do. Outside of that though, I'm faily much an open book. I read and learn as able, attempt to find fencing partners as I can; Jasmine won't allow me use of an actual sword, and generally just try to live life as fully as possible."
It was a speech and a half that I gave, but no matter; she'd asked and I'd spoken, however long-winded. Watching her with a quiet eye, I took a drink of my wine finally, noting absently that half mine was gone where most of hers remained.

I listened to his tale, fascinated and touched that he would tell me so much.
"It turned out well for me that you are here, for otherwise I would be trapped beneath that wall," I said, my voice and words, while playful, not making light of either his story or the fact that he had told it to me.
Raising my glass again, though not quite as high this time, I smiled and said, "To happy endings," then took a drink.

I toasted along with her; my mood was not sobered by any means, but I also knew the fine line to walk as far as charm and jests were concerned. Raising the glass to my lips again, I drank half again what I had; truly, they weren't big drinks as the glasses were on the small side.
Continuing to hold my wine in hand, I offered her an honest, sincere grin. "Well for me also, my lady, and not for the fact of residing in Jasmine. How else would I have met so friendly and pretty a princess?" Giving her a wink, I continued. "What of you? Of all that's happened to you thus far, what is the most interesting thing you can think of on the spot?"

That was easy. "Meeting and falling in love with the man of my dreams, and having him ask me to marry him," I said, smiling and blushing slightly in a very girlish way, but I couldn't help what thoughts of Nic did to me.

"Ah," I said, a smile forming suddenly upon my face, "Romance, when played right, can hold powers beyond comprehension." Leaning forward, I took the bottle of wine and refilled my glass, continuing as I did so. "Especially when love is involved, or so I've heard."
Shifting the bottle to her glass, I glanced up to her blushing face, tilting both the bottle and my head in such a way as to silently ask if she'd like more. "What's his name?"

I slid my glass over slightly so that he could refill it.
"Nic," I answered, then it occurred to be that a nickname would mean nothing to Troy. "Prince Nicanor da las Aragonia."

I raised my eyebrows some, impressed as I should be as the wine began to trickle once more from the bottle and into her glass. "A smart match," I commented, giving her a mildly coy smile.

"Why thank you," I said with a chuckle. I knew that the political match was a good one, but it didn't matter to me in the least.

Setting the bottle down once her glass had been refilled, I gave her a playful look. "So I suppose, in light of this knowledge, I can no longer woo you? As so far as an adept can woo a princess, that is." A grin came out on my face, both charming and jovial all at once, as I looked to her in amusement.

"Sorry to have dashed your plans," I told him, returning his smile with matching amusement. "Though I must say, adept or not, you would have had a good chance were I not already taken."

I gave her a smile for her words, I reached out and caught up her slender hand, giving the back of her fingers a single light kiss. "For your kindness," I said, meaning it, before releasing her. "And, should you wonder, that is as far as I will ever go. I have no wish to cause strife with you and your Nic."
I smiled again, sincerely, catching my wine glass up as I leaned back. "Though you should know, I will grieve when the nights are long and I am alone." My smile turned to a teasing grin, and I raised my glass to my lips, taking a small pull.

"I have a feeling that not many of your nights are spent alone," I said, chuckling. I took a drink of my wine, as I thought about how much I was enjoying this and how wonderfully fun Troy was.

Chuckling along with her, I set my glass down, toying idly with it. "Enough are," I said, the corner of my mouth curling up in a mildly lopsided grin. "But alas, I am a gentleman and as such cannot speak of such things." Winking, I took another drink, letting the dry wine wet my throat.

"And I have no doubts about you being a gentleman, so I won't press," I told him, grinning wryly. "Besides, it wouldn't be princessly to pry."

I grinned, biting back a lewd, however jesting, statement. "If all princesses, and our future Queen, are like you Leyna, then Terre d'Ange should lean more upon the weight of its royal personalities and less upon its army, for I have no doubts that you alone could divert a war with one solitary look."

I blushed deeply, taken off-guard by the depth of his compliment.
"Thank you," I said, smiling. "I was one of the luckiest ones though, growing up with the privileges of title and without the pressures of state. I think growing up away from the City had a lot to do with it, not being thrown into all the political intrigue."

"On my family's estate in L'Angce," I told him. "My parents decided they wanted me to go up away from the rush of the City, so I could learn to be myself before I had to learn to be a Princess."

"Lucky girl," I briefly commented, watching the muted light as it played across her features. Lovely Leyna, truly; her fiancee was indeed a fortuitous man, and I believed any person with a taste for beauty might envy him.

I nodded slightly. "I am, truly, though it's something I try not to take for granted," I said, smiling. "No one likes a spoiled princess." I chuckled and then took another drink of wine.

I grinned, tilting my glass back and forth to swirl the wine inside it's confines. "I think, Princess Leyna, most would be rather surprised to see one as otherwise. Still, I agree. I don't care for a spoiled anything, unless I'm the one lucky enough to do the spoiling."

I laughed at his remark. "I think you and Nic would get along well," I said, still chuckling. "Perhaps I shall have to introduce him to you, my wall holding up savior and friend."

I laughed as well with how she ended it; I had a feeling she'd not let me forget it. "I'll hold you do it then, if you should feel so inclined," I said with a wink, meaning it, though at the same time not expecting it. How could I, when I was but an adept against two royals? Still, it was all in good fun, as was the entire time I'd spent with her.
