My studies and affairs straightened and dealt with for the day, I was free to take a much-needed escape from Jasmine House. Wearing dark breeches with a pale grey shirt, I had left walking, and found myself wandering before the steps of Mont Nuit, supposedly window browsing. Window browsing? My eyes strayed more often than not, intrested not so much in the goods displayed pleasingly behind clean-cut glass, but in the people that milled around me. Tall, short, dark and fair, they were much more interesting than any sort of item, and, forgetting to window shop for a moment, I found myself leaning next to a wall, yawning softly.

I was in the mood to shop, not for anything in particular, just shop. Clad in a dress of green velvet, I strolled the streets, looking in shops and enjoying the wonderfully mild weather.
Turning a corner, I couldn't help but chuckle at the man leaning against a wall and yawning. How could anyone be bored in this city?

Luckily for me the yawn was nearly complete, because I otherwise think I might have choked on it when I heard a chuckle. Turning my head, I caught sight of a pretty blonde not too far away, and gave her a smile.
"The wall was crumbling," I said, giving an obvious jest with a so-serious look on my face and with my voice deeply concerned, "Someone has to hold it up."

"Well, lucky for me that you are here then, since I was about to walk right by that hazard," I said, smiling, even as I played along.

"Tis my job," I said, a hint of a smile peeking around the corners of my lips. Something about her tugged at my memory, though I brushed it off without really pondering on it.
"Who may I have the pleasure of saving, if I may be so bold as to ask?" I queried, laying one hand on the wall behind me as if to check to see if it were holding.

Slipping into my most regal of postures, I told him, "Princess Leyna de Somerville." My regality faltered as I grinned again. "And who is it I have to thank for saving me?"

"Eluas balls!" I exclaimed, then abruptly cut myself short - Damn! I had meant to think the damned phrase, not blurt it out like some peasant cut from a wheat field. Carrying on with a bare skipped beat, I gave her a lopsided grin. "Troy no Jasmine," I responded, remaining against the wall. Something told me she wouldn't appreciate a bow and a scrape, which was just as well with me as I never was good with such things.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Princess Leyna." A devilish side to my smile came out, and a tease entered my voice. "I do suppose the reward for saving a life such as yours would be great."

"I suppose it would be," I agreed, stifling a chuckle. I walked past him to a 'safe' part of walkway.
"But how would you enjoy it while leaning, I mean holding up, the wall?" I asked, teasingly perplexed.

I watched her as she walked past me, appreciating the view that any man would be hard pressed to deny of a d'Angeline woman. "A good point," I said, then pressed my back on the wall before stepping away. "But I do believe I pressed the bricks back into place."

I clapped softly, but appreciatively. "Ah, my savior," I said. "What shall you claim as your reward?"

It was corny, and we both knew it, though she had managed to eliviate my astounding boredom to which I wholey appreciated.
"Well," I said thoughtfully, stepping closer, though leaving ample room between us, "Normally I would ask a kiss from so pretty a woman, though I think with you I should keep my wits about me and simply request getting a drink somewhere."

Grinning mischievously, I leaned in and kissed his cheek.
Stepping back, my grin became a smile. "Where would you like to get a drink?" I asked.

Bold! I hadn't seen that one coming in the slightest, and if I were so lucky as to gather a repeat of it, I vowed not to let her catch me off guard again. Still, I didn't quite have this Princess Leyna de Somerville figured out yet, and I merely laughed out loud with it.
"You're more surprising than I'd have thought," I commented, then offered her my arm without thinking. "There was a place up the row a bit, if you don't mind walking a pace or twenty."

I could see that I had caught him off guard, and I couldn't help but chuckle. I had a feeling that he was not one to be surprised often.
Taking his arm, I said, "I don't mind walking any distance. I'm not the dull and stuffy Princess you would have thought I was."

I considered her statement as we began walking, glancing down to her with a bemused look on my face. "I didn't really have any presumptions, actually," I said, completely honest. "I find it serves poorly to expect something before you truly understand what drives it."
The thought occurred to me as we strolled that there was a good chance she was either betrothed or unavailable, and while the thought didn't ruffle me at all, I wondered distantly if I were to be set upon by an angry nobleman who was intent on chewing my ears off and eating my fingers for lunch for touching his Princess. Not letting it show on my face, I merely gave her a grin as we neared the destination, finding the situation, if it were to happen, more amusing than anything else.
"My lady," I said as we reached the heavy wooden doors, laqured black with brass knobs. Giving her a small bow considering the tight quarters of the entry, I held the door for her and let her enter first, following behind her while waiting for my eyes to adjust.

With a slight nod, I passed through the door and into the establishment. I stepped just out of the way of the door so Troy could enter as my eyes adjusted to the change in lighting.
"Do you come here often?" I asked him, glancing his way.

"A few times," I said, placing my fingers ever so lightly upon the small of her back and gesturing with my free hand, asking silent permission to guide her to a table. "It's clean, the staff are happy and they don't water their wines down."

I leaned into his touch just slightly, letting him know I wouldn't startle at his lead.
"All good things in a drinking establishment," I said, smiling.

With her lean my fingers became slightly more pressed, and instinctively I knew my permission had been granted. Choosing out a spot in a well-lit booth along the eastern wall, and as thus out of the late afternoon suns reach, I saw her seated before settling myself in across from her.
"Aye," I said in agreement, leaning back appreciatively on the padded leather behind me. "Have you ever been here before, then?"

"No, I've only been to a couple of the taverns in the City," I answered. "What do you recommend here?"

"White wine," I answered, watching her with a curious eye. "Usually I would say red, but I do think the white is superior here than in the other places I have visited."

"That sounds lovely," I said, settling more fully into my seat. "A bottle of whatever white you choose and my debt shall be repaid?"

I laughed again, raising my arms to hook them behind the back of the booth. "You're not required to sit with me, Princess. I'm just glad I could be of service." I could fairly well feel the sparkle enter my eye as I delivered the last sentence, though I wholely meant the first.

"As if I would pay for a bottle and not get to at least enjoy a glass," I scoffed, though I was still smiling. I had never really interacted with anyone from Jasmine, and I wondered whether Troy's wonderful sense of humor was the norm or if he had possibly been meant for Orchis at some point. "And please, anyone who saves my life gets to call me Leyna."

"As if I would let you pay for it," I scoffed in return, my smile still very much apparent. "Leyna it is, then - it matches you well." The smile on my face turned devious for a split second before a waitress came up for our order, and I gave it without hesitation.
As the girl walked away, I turned my attention again to the pretty, for she truly was, woman sitting before me. I had appreciated her looks before, and while that had not faded, I now enjoyed her willingness to indulge in my jests. Truly, not what I had thought of a Princess, though I tried to stick by my own personal cannon and not cast judgement before understanding was aquired in full.

"If I let you pay, I will still owe you a reward," I pointed out.
"Perhaps you want to keep the royal marker in play for a later time?" I asked, tilting my head slightly and chuckling.

Unhooking my arms from behind me, I lifted my hands and shook them slightly, palm forward, as I denied her question. "Ah, no," I said in all honest seriousness, "I'm afraid you have the wrong man if you should think I would do such a thing."
Giving her a soft smile, I lowered my hands and leaned forward towards her slightly. "Besides, lovely Leyna, all I truly wanted in reward was a fraction of your time - the drink is but my gift to you."

I blushed softly and dropped my eyes for an instant before looking back up at him. "Then my time you shall have," I said, smiling. "Perhaps even two fractions."

The blush in her cheeks truly set her face off, and in that moment I couldn't help but to envy the man who had managed to snare her - truly, she couldn't be alone. Even if she were, I was but an adept when all said and done, and thankful enough that I had the chance to meet her. Her titles and bearings meant nothing, as did anyone elses whom I met; it was the person beneath the surface, the soul which either took joy in life or fought it like a cat in a dog pen.
Before I responded the waitress returned with a bottle of wine and two thin glasses; transferring my smile to the girl, I took the bottle from her before she had a chance to pour and saw to it myself, trickling Leynas into her fluted glass absent-mindedly before serving myself.
"Tell me, Leyna," I said, glancing from the bottle and to her face, "What do you enjoy doing most when not called in upon duty?"

"Spending time with those I love, riding, and dancing," I answered, watching appreciatively the skill with which he did something as minor as pouring wine. "What about you, Troy? What do you like to do when not holding up walls and saving wayward princesses?"
