I took the few seconds alotted as Tabien was getting out of the carriage to collect myself. When I exited, I was more myself again, presentable and collected, and if my cheeks were high in color, I had lost the embarrassed look for one more pleasant.
"Do you know what I think, Tabien?" I asked, releasing the footmans hand who had aided me down. "I think you are a high level pain in the rear."
My lip curled in a smile as I slipped my hand to his arm. "Ready to catch a show?"

I blinked steadily at her, even as she extended her arm. I took it, smiling, though slightly confused. "I.." I stuttered for a second. "I think your probably right." I said eventually, and shrugging at it. Somehow, I took solace in the fact that she would say such a thing, and cling to me anyways.
"And yes, I do believe I am." I answered her second question.

He seemed confused, and while I wasn't exactly aiming for that reaction, he still seemed at ease and not put off. Making our way into the building was a matter of a dozen or so steps, and once inside I looked around, staying physically near Tabiens side. "Where would you like to sit?" I asked, looking out over the crowds.

I found myself fighting my conscious, one part daring and devious, the other part restrained and cautious. In the back. Up front. I shook my head, dispelling my little internal monologued. "How about....somewhere on the edge." I finished.

I smiled at him and looked out over the crowd, spotting an empty half-circle booth that was set up to look out across the stage. "How about there?" I asked, gesturing to where it sat on the wall of the playhouse.

"That looks just fine." We made our way through the sparse crowd right now, and sat down. I extended an arm, hoping she would lean into my hold. It was a little more casual seating than the chairs in the center, and the lights a bit dimmer.

I slid into the booth as he did, and where I normally would have stopped and settled myself, I kept going due to his outstretched arm. Smiling softly at him, I sat next to him and leaned lightly against him, noting at the same time that a show seemed ready to start in the next few moments. "It looks as though we have good timing," I commented, leaning my head back on his shoulder as I looked up at him.

"Yeah, and I thought we were going to be early." I snickered a bit to myself. "Guess that little distraction took longer than we thought." I hinted to our slight interruption at her townhome earlier, and hooked my arm gently around her as she settled in. But, I didn't linger on the subject. "You by any chance didn't catch what the title of the show was, did you?"

I shook my head, looking from him and across the expanse of the Laughing Parrot. "No, unfortunately I didn't, and from your question I gather you didn't either." Likely there were signs, but they'd begun dousing two thirds of the lamps that lit the patrons area of the Parrot, leaving us with dim lighting while the stage was well lit. Before he could answer, a young boy walked up to us with a candle and a toothy grin.
"Would ye like the candle lit on your table, my Lady, my Lord?" he asked. I looked up at Tabien, letting him decide.

"Sure, that would be fine. By the way, I know this must sound incredibly ignorant, but could you tell us the exact title of the preformance? We arrived in a bit of a blur, so both of us," I looked at Azabel, "Failed to see it."
The boy looked at me grinning again. "My lord should pay more attention when attending sacred tellings. Today is the story of Naamah's travels." And with that, he left giggling.
I raised an eyebrow as she hopped away, greeting other patrons. As I looked around though, it was becoming apparent. Every single patron had a partner. It seemed to be filled with couples. "Well, guess that answers that question."

I watched the transaction with no little amusement, and after Tabien looked around and spoke again, I had to laugh. "I guess it does," I agreed.
Once again, the words were hardly out of my mouth when a server stopped by and inquired as to whether we would like anything to eat or drink. "Wine for me, please," I said, then looked at Tabien a second time for his order. I was a little hungry truth be told, but this was not a story nor a setting which I wished to eat in. Curious, too, that we managed to come for the story of Naamah. I leaned a little more against him, enjoying the way he felt next to me.

"Make it two glasses then." I added, taking my cue from her. I had a feeling we'd be eating pleasantly later. Azabel moved closer as the server left, setting in the crook of my arm. It was such a nice tender move, I rested my head on hers as she settled in.

I smiled and touched my head against his for a moment before straightening, though in truth there was only a matter of an inch or two between us again. "How interesting," I murmured, our close proximity not demanding any louder of a voice. "We managed to come for Naamahs stories. It's been a while since I've heard their telling though."

The crowds were now slowly settling in. It was still mid afternoon, and perhaps this showing wouldn't draw the kind of crowd that a later night would. Still, there was a dull murmur, and it served as a background noise to help foster some intimacy. "I don't think I've heard many of them. Maybe one, but it's been so long ago, and I didn't quite grasp them when I did." I admitted.

I smiled into the darkness, half pleased with the Parrot, and half with Tabien. "I think you might enjoy them, then," I whispered to him, my face angling up towards his a little more so he didn't have to strain to hear me.

I turned my head hearing her speak again, and felt my cheek brush her lips as she finished. It was getting to the point were I couldn't see much around. Even with the dim candle at our table, light was low. I embraced her more, responding. "Well, I imagine a turnout like this would support that thought quite well."

I hadn't expected him to turn so much, but I was pleasantly surprised when he did and my lips met his skin. I nodded, and as I did the play began with an announcement. The waitress too had good timing and stopped by our table to give two glasses of wine, then made her way to the next table with their round. I nestled back into Tabien as I took my glass, my eyes going from his handsome face to the stage.

The crowd hushed as cast begin to come out on stage. The large lanterns served to illumiate the stage in a warm glow, the small candles of the tables like tiny sprites vying for attention. The costumes were soft, and of a theme of white. I imagined they represented Naamah herself. The others were tattered brown rags, and I could only imagine were the populous.

The telling was vivid, if not something that little eyes couldn't see. I watched silently, sipping my wine, and just enjoying the quiet time out.

I tried to not talk too much during the play, but every now and then, a question came to my lips that I couldn't repress. "Okay, so why again were Elua and said compainions traveling to Bhodistain?"

"Because they were looking for a place to settle," I whispered softly, smiling at him and intrigued that he was actually curious, not watching for the more.. interactive.. scenes like some of the other people here obviously were.

"Ah. Alright." I did surprisingly well controling myself despite the rather gratuitous showing. It was the heart of our nation, and I didn't feel any shame by any stretch. But I still had a slight foreigner's perspective, and couldn't help but have my eyes widen in surprise every now and then. "Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but each house has it's own perspective as to why Naamah did what they did. So..." I stopped myself as the stage went silent, a moment of dramatic pause. "..this would merely be Eglatine's own view, correct?"

"In part," I responded, shifting away from him to enable me to look up at him."The basis of Naamahs story is the same, though it's different factions and ideas that make the tellings different. Naamah lay down with strangers to aid Elua, for her love of him; that is the testiment that all tellings seek to get across. The religious ones, at any rate," I added, shifting my shoulders slightly.

I stroked her shoulder with a light touch, letting the memory of it there remain vivid. "That last part I remember. I suppose I've always wondered..." I trailed off quietly, my mind started to drift to the other houses interpretations of Naamah's story. I felt the room darken just a little bit, for some reason my mind thought about Kushiel's two houses: Valerian and Mandrake. How do they interpret it?"

I was unsure with his last words whether he wondered about that, or if there was something else he was quietly leading into. The play was not too far from nearing its end, I thought, and my gaze went back to it as an exceptionally loud voice spoke.

I shook away my curious thoughts, and took a moment to lay a soft kiss to Aza's cheek. I don't know why, but I didn't regret it. I then feigned all knowledge of doing so, continuing to watch the play. It seemed the plot was nearing the climax, and the dialouge was getting heavy. I paid close attention then, wanting to learn something from it.

My eyes closed briefly as he kissed my cheek, and I smiled to myself, sitting back against him again as we continued to watch the show. The light of the candle that sat on the table was mildly distracting and I leaned, blowing it out as we weren't really using it anyway. Satisfied, I leaned against Tabien again, my eyes on the stage.

I was very complacent, and enjoyed just the silence with this women at my side. The play went through its last throws in pleasant spendor, and for a time, had me completely entranced. I was even surprised when a window near the top of the wall opposite the stage was opened, basking the main character in a swath of light; a perfect alignment to the sun from outside I thought. And, I was distracted to not notice the small flock of doves let loose at the end.

The applause at the end was a roar for a crowd this size, and I joined it as well, my hands coming together lightly as I was taught to years ago. Smiling, I lifted my hands a touch in salute to the actors as they bowed before turning back to Tabien. "What did you think?" I asked, curious.

I clapped and cheered along with the rest of the crowd. "I thought it was time well spent." I said, not quite answering the question, indicating that was more happy that she was here. If she truly wanted to know, I'd give my critique of the play too.
