“He does look quite exotic,” I replied with a grin. “I guess I shouldn’t tease you about him too much, then, seeing as he might become a regular acquaintance of yours.”
I tilted my head to the side, and said, laughing some as I did, teasing her affectionately, “You’re blushing. You don’t blush usually, Aaliyah. Is there something you should be telling me?”

I smiled and shrugged at Dine's question. "Not at the moment, but who knows." I put an elbow on the table and put a hand in it. My smile still there but thoughtful I said, "I have never had a boyfriend before, it could be fun." I then broke out of it and added, "though even if we stay friends I will be happy with that. A boyfriend could be complicated while still at Eglantine."

"Yes, I know," I replied, my hand extending to pat her arm gently. "It looks like love isn't an easy commodity for us indentured servants," I observed. "But still, some make it work, if they have patience...." I smiled dreamily. I trusted Eddie - he'd driven me insane with desire, but he also treated me like a queen.

I nodded, yea. If Vincent, or anyone in the future, interests me enough I will find a way. I might have to paint them a lot, but I'll find a way." I giggled at my joke and then sighed. I looked around. "This place is getting a little old." I then looked at Dine, "do you want to find someplace more interesting?"

I giggled with Aaliyah, wondering what kind of lewd portraits she could do with Vincent – and then I noted it was the second time the idea of painting a white haired adept was coming to her mind. Something to tease her about, I decided, but perhaps later.
“In fact, I should get back to Heliotrope,” I said with a smile. “I have to take over for Daniel in but a few moments, in fact, I’m afraid I may be late.” I wasn’t but I would be if I didn’t do something soon. “I’ll see you at Eglantine soon, won’t I? I still need to see your new paintings…” I added teasingly.

"I didn't want to make Dine late for anything she had to do back at Heliotrope so I nodded in agreement. "You better come by," I said in a mock note of demand, "other wise I might have to send someone after you to tie you up and drag you over."

“A Mandrake, perhaps, since you have one in your acquaintances?” I laughed more at the thought of Ideaus’ short strength dragging me to Eglantine. That was a very, very amusing thought. I’d likely be kicking and screaming, too. What a scene.

It took me a moment to remember what Mandrake she was referring too, though I probably should have known since his painting was still on my wall.
I laughed openly at Dine's suggestion. "While it might be amusing to watching Idaeus dragging you across the Night Court I can see you putting up a fair fight." I lowered my voice a little, though I didn't think anyone was really listening to us. "He's not exactly the largest guy in Terre d'Ange."

I laughed lightly. “Yes, it’s a rather amusing visual,” I said, my voice full of mirth. “But he seemed friendly enough, for a Mandrake, you know, in a weird, cold detached way…” not unlike Navarre, I decided, though I felt Navarre had a world of emotions that Ideaus perhaps had, but didn’t allow himself to live.
“I should really get going. I’ll pop by next week, see what new paintings you have,” I said as I stood, coming close to kiss her goodbye.

Idaeus was strange, but he did seem pretty harmless to me. If anything he hadn't tried to me.
I stood and returned Dine's kiss of parting and then with a smile said, "You better, I just might look up Idaeus if you don't."
I left my payment on the table with a tip and waited for Dine to do the same. Since I always walked out with her.

I laughed lightly for her jest as my hand lightly left some coin for the service, and offered her my hooked arm. We would part on the street, as was our habit, I knew. “Maybe I’ll teach your friend Ideaus something about love, then, and give him some tenderness in my defense.”
That made me laugh, but part of mew knew it was true – it had worked with Navarre, at least. A bit of friendship, and he had poured out his soul to me.

I tried to picture the cold frame that Idaeus put forward warming up to Dine. If anyone could do it, I believed that she could. The thought still made me laugh, however, and I did so along with her.
"If you manage to warm that cold soul," I said, "I would buy you a new dress and take you out in it to celebrate the occasion. It would be a true testament to your skill!"

I gave Aaliyah a chuckling look. “Hmm… Maybe.” I thought on the matter, wondering. I wouldn’t break the rules with him – I didn’t usually, and only had once for some who mattered to me madly.
“Perhaps we’ll have to test that theory,” I said as we reached the door. A simpering adolescent opened it, and I grinned. “I could use a new dress – especially if it’s one of Rosiel’s designs,” I added teasingly. In truth, I wouldn’t want Aaliyah to spend her money on a dress when she should probably be going to the marquist. It didn’t mean I wouldn’t take the challenge, for the fun of it, though.

I walked outside with Dine and paused a moment so I could say goodbye before turning my own way to my own House. "Well if you decide to take me up o my offer then let me know. Either way," I put my hands on my hips and pouted, though it was obvious I was not serious, "you better come and visit me."

“I will,” I replied with a little wink. “And I might even bring a surprise for it. Keep tabs on your white hair friend, and let me know what happens,” I added, leaving it purposely open to her interpretation, whether it was Vincent or Ideaus I was referring to. With that, I kissed her on both cheeks impetuously, and made for home.
Smiling with an amused grin, I turned, and waved goodbye before I turned the corner. I had some gardening to do, a marquing to go to... a million things to do.

"Oooh, a surprise," I said more as a tease then anything. I returned her kiss but we parted our ways, I did not want to keep her up but I was curious why she wanted me to keep tabs on Idaeus. Did she like him? I decided not, he didn't seem her type at all.
I strolled back to the house. I was happy to remember that I had a painting to finish, the people painted and a background and detail to be added. It was nice when I got to occasional painting that did not have to be finished in one setting.
