The concern he'd felt, the worry of the entire situation, was evident in his manner- and his words caused my cheeks to warm, my hands clasping his own more firmly. For all of his thoughts of being unable to speak in d'Angeline, the tension of not being able to communicate- when he relaxed he made himself known very well. "You want to stay here- because of me?" I asked in a quiet tone, a bit amazed and feeling- I didn't know exactly what. But it wasn't bad.
After a moment I remembered he'd said other things as well and forced my mind back to where it should be, on his fears and the matters at hand. "I- I mean, I think once they've gotten past that one large fight the others should be smaller- and they will be willing to work through them," I added, perhaps a bit late, though I gave him another smile and hoped he understood.

I didn't miss her reaction to her words, and I smiled softly. "Because of you," I confirmed, putting my wine glass aside. "You become first reason to stay, most important reason. I do not want to go home and again live with my father, but even in praying, I did not think that I find someone so beautiful and smart and kind."

He set his glass aside and so did I, still feeling a bit in awe as he validated what I'd thought he'd said. "But- I'm not perfect," I said in a soft tone, almost a fearful whisper as I realized what I'd said. I wanted him to think I was perfect with the younger part of myself- but the older said that it was wrong to lie, to allow him to think something so fallacious. "But I want to try so that you think I am."
Shifting slightly I moved in closer to him carefully, peering up into his face. "I want you to stay- even if they leave. That's wrong of me, to want you to have to miss your family but I don't want you to go."

My hand came up and very gently, I caressed the smooth skin of her neck. "Maybe, in not so long," I began tentatively, "I start another family here. That is my hope. To start a family with a woman that I think is perfect. Maybe she is thinking different, but I think that she is perfect."

His words were as sweet as his touch to my skin and I couldn't help but arch my neck to offer more of it to him, enjoying his presence so much that I didn't even realize what I was doing or flush at my forwardness. "It would take someone very foolish indeed to not see how wonderful an idea that would be," I replied in nearly a whisper, bringing my free hand up to cup his cheek, then run lightly through his soft, dark hair.

"Do you want many children?" I asked, still stroking her neck. She was so beautiful like this, leaning against me and gazing up with those big blue-green eyes.

His words brought a fresh flush to my cheeks but I struggled to answer honestly. "I- don't know, I never really thought about it," I replied in a soft tone as I held his gaze with more confidence than I would have had earlier that day. "I guess I just didn't expect anyone to be asking me that sort of question while I was so young. My mother married late in her life."

"You do not... dream about having family?" I asked curiously. All my sisters had spoken of what they might want their future family to look like.

"well, yes- but when I was younger," I replied thoughtfully, trying to remember. "I wanted to have a pretty white dress and a few babies who looked like little angels- I can recall that. But once I got a bit older I knew I was likely destined for other things and simply stopped thinking about it. I didn't want to be disappointed."
Smiling softly up at him I took the chance and kissed his other hand, the one I held in my own. "You're the first person to ever ask me that sort of question. Most people only think about what I'm doing now."

"You will have to think, and then tell me," I said with a soft, tender smile, resolving to go and buy her a white gown. "I want to know what you dream."

"I will try to remember them for you," I assured him with a flush of pleasure, though I was still a bit abashed- it seemed so important to him and the idea of letting him down in the slightest bit deeply bothered me. Besides- if I didn't tell him perhaps he wouldn't ask again and I enjoyed his interest.

"Good. I want to know what you think important. Now, and in the future," I said with a smile. I decided to pose a less specific question. "If you can have anything now, anything, what will it be?"

His question brought one answer immediately to mind- and I immediately blushed at it though my smile remained. "Anything?" I asked softly, almost hesitantly.

Her blush made me wonder where she was going to go with this, and then I immediately felt guilty that I would think such a thing of her. "Anything," I confirmed, hiding my thoughts behind a teasing smile.

Immediately a new idea came to my mind and I flushed again. "I would- ask you to-"
At that moment one of the servants came discreetly toward them and I flushed again, looking down at my gown and smoothing it. "I take it dinner is ready?" I asked her with a smile and a nod, which she returned. "Thank you, we will be on the veranda shortly. Please go ahead and have everything prepared."
The girl turned and walked back toward the house and I gave Fydor a smile and squeezed his hand lightly. "Are you ready to eat?"

She was interrupted by the arrival of dinner, and I smiled at her question. "Yes," I replied, keeping hold of her hand as I rose and waiting for her to lead me onwards. "You say, you would ask me?"

Flushing slightly I squeezed his hand and smiled more widely, my voice soft with affection and hope. "I would ask that we could spend another day together soon in the future," I replied, a safe answer but also one i wasn't sure about, as it may offend his pride to not ask me in turn. "Perhaps to the next event to which we are both invited?"

"Oh yes, for definite," I said with a grin. She so often seemed to be tentative in her words, and though she didn't need to be, it was very endearing to me. "We can go... with other. I am sorry, is this something you wanted? For other fetes?" I asked as the thought occurred to me, concerned that I wasn't living up to her expectations.

"I like any time I spend with you," she told him honestly, gently leading him toward the veranda where dinner had been arranged. "But I think- it would be good to be seen together in that way. And we'd have even more time to spend in each other's company." I could feel the flush rising on my cheeks again.

She didn't really answer my question, and I knew that I had been letting her down. But at least she liked me enough to give me a chance to fix it. "We will go to all fetes with other then," I told her, squeezing her hand lightly. "And every man will be jealous of me."

"I am glad I met you," I said softly in response, blushing a bit more brightly at being so forthright. "I can't imagine that anyone, even your brother, would be as wonderful for me as you are." And I meant that, completely without a reservation or a bit of hesitance that I usually kept in my voice and heart.

Something in her voice more than her words caught me, even more than normal. I stopped us, not too far from the patio where we would eat, and turned her to me. I leaned in and gently kissed her, saying without the words I couldn't yet voice of my love and desire for her. My free hand came up to cradle her beneath her ear, holding her gently even though I wanted to feel the line of her body against mine. The urge was easy to ignore however, for this moment was about a more pure emotion.

His lips brushed mine and I couldn't help but close my eyes in reaction, a faint flush touching my cheek- but soon gone under the touch of his and the taste of his mouth. The very sweetness of this kiss nearly stole my breath. I didn't know how but I could feel so much in that moment, from the way the kiss drew on with a sort of gentle importance, as though something that had to be said in a quiet but desperately fashion and the easy feeling of his caress. Even more was the way I responded, with the same truths and sincerity he did, the same kiss and the same message even as I brought my own hand up to run gently through his hair, my knees almost weakening. Instinctively I leaned a bit closer against him simply to keep my balance and draw some comfort from the closeness of his flesh, a reminder that all of this was real.

She pressed herself against me, and my hand left hers so that it could go around her waist. The movement was almost unconscious, for I was beginning to lose myself in her kiss, in her sweet taste. The kiss was nearly chaste, but her fingers moving through my hair sent a growing warmth through me. Finally I needed air, and my lips parted from hers only to glide around the side of her face to whisper in her ear. "I know you do not believe, but you are wonderful. Wonderful and perfect to me."

My breath was still short as he pulled away, my forehead resting on his shoulder and his words sending a shudder of feeling and repressed desire. Still, I would ask for no more; he hadn't pulled away, let me stay against the warmth of his body where I could inhale his scent and that could keep me contented. "Thank you," I could only say softly, turning my face to rest against his neck lightly.

To have her pressed against me like this, the scent of her clouding my judgement, I lost my grip on my desires for but a brief moment and pressed my lips to her neck. Oh gods, her skin tasted as sweet as her lips.
I forced myself to move when I had realized what I had done, and instead rested my cheek against her hair. It took a moment for me to remember the words that I needed. "I should say that I am sorry. That was too bold. But I am truly not sorry," I whispered, eyes closed.

His kiss on my neck caused my breath to catch just slightly and my arms tightened just a bit where they wrapped around his neck, blood even more heated than before. In the moment before he collected his words my own lips brushed his neck in a faint sweep and my pulse thudded through my veins. "I don't want you to be sorry," I told him in a whisper, my forehead again pressed to his skin. "Because I would have to be sorry as well- and I'm not. I liked it and I don't think I could stand to be in the slightest bit sorry for my actions."

Her lips brushed across my skin, and my blood pounded through my veins at the simple touch. Dear gods, give me strength. Let me do right by her, help me control the temptation. I didn't know how I was ever going to make it to Alexei's wedding, much less my own.
My hand caressed through her hair as I got my ragged breathing under control. With her body against mine it was difficult, but I managed. "Never be sorry solnshyshko," I whispered, forcing myself a step back. But even then, I gathered her hands in mine and raised them so that I was able to lay kisses on her palms. "To dinner now?"
