"You do not need skill. You are so very beautiful without it," I murmured, running my fingers up and down her neck. I drank in her beauty with my eyes, wishing I never had to leave her.

His caress grew more comforting by the moment and his words drew a fresh blush to my cheeks. I normally would have said something self-deprecating, but his gaze and touch quieted me and I leaned against him even more, my own hand rising to stroke his cheek and chin in response. "You are the most charming and handsome man I've ever met," I replied softly and with complete sincerity. "And the sweetest."

I knew then that I wouldn't be able to leave until I played this through. I knew that I could fall so deeply in love with this woman that I would never miss my homeland. I didn't want my family to leave, they were too much a part of my life to willingly part from them. But I knew if they went, I would stay here. Stay here to court Lessa.
I didn't ask then. It was too soon to ask. Instead I leaned down and kissed her gently. "Thank you," I murmured against her lips.

His lips were warm and soft and I sighed against them in pleasure before softly returning the kiss, careful not to push beyond what he'd just offered me. "You're welcome," I told him in a whisper, smiling. Something seemed to have changed in his demeanor, something for the better, and I enjoyed it a good deal.

"May I come and see you again soon?" I asked, not wanting to leave her but knowing our time was drawing to a close. I was expected at home soon for the evening meal. "I will write this time though, and not arrive not polite like I did."

"Whether or not you write I'd like to see you again soon," I told him with a blush. "Anytime you'd wish to visit I will be here and happy to have your company."

"Not tomorrow, I promised I would take Lia out to... I do not know the word. But maybe the day after?" What I really wanted was to bring her home for dinner. But as if was too soon to ask her for courting rights, it was much too soon to let my family loose on her. They were a lot to take all at once.

"That sounds wonderful," I replied honestly and softly as I smiled. "Truly, whatever time you'd like, notice or none, I'd- like to see you. I enjoy your company very much." And it was true- though the extent of how much and in what sense I'd like him to visit would stay silent, for it wouldn't sound ladylike at all.

I smiled widely. "You make my..." I tapped on my sternum before I could remember the word, "chest warm with your kind words." I meant what I said too, her words filled my heart with joy. "You give me happiness." I took her hands into mine and smiled into those wonderfully turbulent eyes. They were so much like the sea.

Flushing a bit I nevertheless kept my gaze on his, brushing his palm with my thumb. "You make me happy as well," I told him in all honesty. "I will miss you."

"I will miss you too," I said softly, lifting her hands up to kiss her fingertips lightly. "I must leave now. But I will come back soon." I returned her hands to her lap and smiled at her as I rose. "Thank you, for listening. You were a very large help."

My hands tingled from the touch of his lips and I flushed lightly as I smiled happily. "I'm glad I could help," I told him. "Come, I'll show you out." With a moderate amount of grace I began to rise as well.

"Thank you. You are a good... how do you say, lady of the house?" I asked as we began to walk toward the door.

"Thank you," I said, still smiling- in truth, it had been quite a long time since I'd smiled this long at a stretch. "It's easy to be a good hostess when one has such wonderful guests as you."

I swear we didn't walk quickly, but the door seemed to loom up before us far too soon.
"I will thank my mother for learning me my courtesy then," I told her with a smile as we paused at the door. Very daringly I thought, I leaned in and laid a kiss on her forehead. "I will see you soon," I promised with a smile, my voice barely above a whisper, before I forced myself to step back and open the door with a bow to her. "Goodbye Lessa."

My skin was warm where his lips touched it- though the contact seemed far too short. "Goodbye," I told him, fearing it would be a final one if his family left suddenly but doing my best to trust in his words and his virtuous nature. Smiling slightly I took his hand and squeezed it softly before releasing it.

I squeezed her hand back with a smile and then left her. Stepping out the door, it felt as if I was leaving part of myself behind. I forced myself not to look back as I swung up on my horse and rode off. I had to believe that I would see her again. Because I would, it was as simple as that. Nothing would keep me away.
