I’d not made my decision, or at least, not consciously. I’d meddled out of it, and so my books were still on my shelves, and I’d fair and well dug out the one about coinage. It held at least an element of answer, or so I believed, though I would need to examine it more in detail before I could give Larq a definite answer.
The book in my satchel, my blue dress on, I entered the Cockeral and ordered a lemonade from the same girl who’d brought me pastries last time. I was just a bit a head of time, so I sat at a table, nursing it and digging back into the book. This evening, I had more time to spend with my friend, it was a good thing – I’d been annoyed at having to leave, last time.

It'd been a few days. I'd been aware of the hunt fete, but I'd not been as lucky to be contracted. A pity, it would have been mountains of fun, I thought. Still, business was in order. Well, my kind of business anyways. I arrived early afternoon at the Cockeral, at least at first. However, two regulars I knew were playing dice in the alley, and I couldn't help myself. After a few games, the last two I won, I realized I'd spent to much time. I rounded the building, coming through the back, and sure enough spotting Shona there settled in. I could just spot her by the edge of the room back to me.
I put all my sneaking skills to use, and crept up behind her, placing my hands over her eyes. "Seems they let you in alright. Anything you want to say to me," I said playfully.

To say I wasn’t focused on my reading would have been a lie. Throughout history, governments have been known to create more coinage than their supply of precious metals would allow. By replacing some fraction of a coin's precious metal content with a base metal (often copper or nickel), the intrinsic value of each individual coin is reduced thereby allowing the coining authority to…
I’d have to go back to it, because the room already poorly lit became remarkably dark as a pair of hands covered my eyes. The warmth and shape of them was familiar enough, and I grinned, though I replied as seriously as I could.
“Yes, take your paws off me before you smear my khol,” I said with exaggerated seriousness. Of course, I wasn’t even wearing any make up, and I didn’t mind his hands on me – adepts always have delicate, clean hands worthy of a noble – they weren’t paws at all.

"Bah." I said, taking my hand off, looking for the black smears. "Heeeey... you little liar." I ruffled her hair a bit, going to settle down on the opposite side. "So, I see you brought the little library with you." I looked around for the bar maiden, aware that Shona had a drink, and I did not. "You know, I think I might have exaggerated my skills at having a good time." I said coyly. "Just a bit."

I gave him a tentative pout. Not even the kiss of greeting, and he ruffled my hair like he would a 10 year old fosterling. “Serves me right for doing my hair,” I said as I stuck my tongue out to him. I drummed the book, and put it back in my satchel. Punishment for that, sort of. I’d pull it out later.
I took a sip of my lemonade, and grinned. “Oh, is that so, Larquel no Orchis? Does that mean you are in the wrong house, and should perhaps be an adept of Dahlia, or Camellia?” The thought made me want to roll in laughter, my lips twitching up already. He was unfit for either of these houses, thank god. Edwyn had been as precious as an old granny, bless his heart, and I’d never met a Dahlia adept that didn’t annoy the dice out of me.

"Serves me right....okay." The staff knew me, and brought me a mug right away, myself content to drink for now. "No, of course not, I love Orchis, you know that. I just couldn't think of a proper means. I had a few ideas, but I don't think they'll work. The best thing I got left were a couple drinking games. That's all." I paused for a moment, chuckling. "Camellia or Dahlia...really." I scoffed.

I lifted an eyebrow, laughing quietly for my successful tease. “A proper means…” I gave him a questioning look. “A proper means for what, exactly, dear? I’d help, you know, I’m good at designing games, but I need clear objectives.”
I grinned widely still for his scoffing. We both knew the reality of things. Still, I felt compelled to defend Edwyn. “I’ve met a Camellia who wasn’t too boring, once he loosened up,” I said with a smile. “But anyway. Speak, and I shall listen,” I added imperiously.

"Well, that was the problem." I looked at her as innocent as I could. "My games usually only have a few objectives in the end. and half of them are for patrons," I looked around, "which of course, isn't for this time or place. Other than that, I have drinking games." I said this as she asked me to.

“I see,” I said with an understanding nod. “Well, show me, then, Maestro,” I offered teasingly. I didn’t show it, but I felt a bit on the cocky side. I still had my lemonade – so I could lose, and still have my wit. All in all, a good combination, really.
I took another sip, and said, “Do you need any equipment?” I dipped a hand in my satchel, and pulled out a pair of dice. “As you know, I’m always ready…”

I looked at her, then her glass, "We'll for starters, we're going to have to fix that." I said, point at her lemonade. "It wouldn't be any fun if you had a handicap." I shrugged. "Besides that, let's see.." I tapped my chin, thinking which one would be suitable.
"Oh, what about I never?"

If I had a handicap? Rather he than I – with his heavy drinking, he’d be closing up shop in the wee hours of the morning, and still be striving strong, whereas I’d be in need of a wheelbarrow to get home. I scoffed. “You know the Bryony rule, Larquel. We don’t drink, because it affects our ability to win.” I never… a good game, but with only the two of us at the table... bah. “You’ll need to invite the tsingani to join us,” I said thoughtfully. I didn’t mind. I liked the tsingani.

"Oh, so we'll need more then. I think I might be able to do that." I got up for a moment, and strode over to the bar. A couple young brothers I knew were sitting there, talking idly. I asked them if they were interested, and their eyes lit up as I pointed back to the table with Shona. "Now, don't be fooled by her, she's very wiley, and I wouldn't try to swindle her, she's got as much skill and luck as you do." With that, I walked back over.
"Shona no' Bryony, Alsalas and Pythe."

I smiled at them both – Alsalas was just a little bit under my age, Pythe had visibly the innocence of those who just barely turned 20. Perfect, we’d have fun. “Welcome,” I said with an elegant smile just this side of sensual, “have a seat, and thank you for joining us for the game.”
I think Alsalas was amused because of my manners, while Pythe visibly was drooling – must have thought me pretty. Eh. I was the companion and bedmate of princes, after all. They sat at the table, and I said, “Larquel-dear, won’t you do the honors, then?” Purposely, I grinned half-wolfishly. I liked to tease, and I had a table full of potential victims. Of course, I’d be careful around Larq – he knew me as well as the back of his own hand.

I sighed playfully, "Well, if you insist." I looked, and my drink just arrived. "Perfect timing." I drummed my fingers on the table, thinking of something not too scandalous to start off. "Alright, how bout this. 'I never....cheated on a game of cards." I knew alsalas did at least once, he he humbly took his drink. Pythe didn't though, which was surprising, though he was a bit younger.

I took a drink of my lemonade, amused that my lack of ethyl had been quickly forgotten.
"I'd like to point out that I have never cheated to win," I said with a teasing grin. "It's a well known fact, Bryony never lose..."
I looked at the others with a look of defiance. Did any one have anything to say to that? Larq probably did, I assumed. It was part of the game.

I looked at my two friends, giving them a wink, then turning back to Shona.
"Uhuh, you just keep telling yourself that." I said with a smile. "Anywho, it's your turn."

"I'm never travelled out of Terre d'Ange," I said with a grin. I looked at Larquel. He'd not really given me away, the little minx. I liked him more for it.

It was a somewhat of a bittersweet victory for that one. I'd been away from the province, but not from the country at large. "I kind of wish I could drink to that one." I tilted my head. Of no surprise, neither of my friends drank either.
Alsalas was next. "Let's see. We'll, I've never done it anywhere besides a bed."
I looked at Shona, thinking to myself how cheap a shot that was at two adepts. I took my drink heartily.

I snickered at Alsalas, and said, "Darling, you haven't known anything yet. Maybe one day you'll be so lucky as to explore some dark corners with a pleasant lass." With that, I took my drink, and winked at Larquel. I hadn't told him the story of the closet just yet, now had I? Or of the cloak, for that matter. I was very amused.

I shrugged, "Ah well, some can't be blessed or cursed with that kind of experience," I said sarcastically. I turned to Pythe who was next. He didn't miss his cue. "Well, I never..." he paused, trying to be dramatic I think. "Recieved payment for my company."
I looked at him with dirty eyes. "What the hell is this. You two are in cahoots with one another to get me piss drunk aren't you." I said, taking a drink without thinking. I was half taken aback at their rashness, and half amused for the same reason. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that they would exploit such difference to their advantage.
"I hope you know that it that's the way you want to play, I'll not be so kind either." I said with fake aggression. They both just merely snickered with their drinks untouched. Shona was lucky she didn't have alchohol, no doubt she would be in the same boat as I.
