I led us through the streets and to the area where Sabrina and I had visited the pub previously. I didn't want to return to the same one, for they knew who I was, so I led us to another fairly respectable looking place.
Two boys ran over to take our horses. I slid from the saddle and handed my reins to one of them, along with three coins from my purse.
"Treat her well and you get that much more when I leave," I said, smiling. Speechlessly he nodded and began to lead Soir away.

Following Leyna's lead I did the exact same, along with giving Noche a reminder to behave himself. The boy took his reins and the coins respectfully and started to lead Noche away, though he kept trying to sidle closer to Soir. Shaking my head and tsking I turned back to Leyna, head cocked sideways. "I expect you to have fun," I said with a mischevious grin.

I laughed, slipping my arm through his.
"I expect the same of you" I told him, winking.
We entered the pub and found a table out of the main flow of traffic but not completely isolated. I sat and looked around while we waited for someone to come take our orders. It was only mildly crowded and seemed like a fun place.
"This looks promising," I said to Nic.

With a grin I looked around; all in all it was a mostly reputable place. "Good choice," I said, my grin widening.
She looked comfortable here- it seemed that she had been sneaking out a little herself. Somehow that made me even more comfortable with her, though considering what had just happened I should not be able to get much more comfortable with her. For a moment my eyes flashed over her face.

I felt him looking at me and turned to look at him. My pulse quickened as my eyes met his. Before I could say anything a slightly older woman approached our table.
"Welcome to The Cockeral," she said, smiling. "What can I get you?"
"Ale, please," I managed.

"Me too please," I said with a charming smile that I then turned on Leyna. "See, it's easy to be a regular person," I teased. "Just be careful not to choke on your ale- I may laugh and then I'd feel bad afterward. If you haven't had anything like it the taste can be a little suprising."

"Seems I'm not nearly as innocent as you think me," I said with a wry grin. "I have all sorts of things you didn't think I had… including having had ale."

"I'm sorry for misjudging you then," I said in apology. "Though I'm glad- going carousing with an innocent is a bit like throwing a stone through a stained-glass window."
Leaning closer, I caught her eyes and cupped her cheek, "See, what it really is that you are so soft and sweet that I forget you have some steel and spice under there."

I really had no restraint, I didn't even try to stop myself as I leaned in to close the little bit of distance and kissed him.
The thump of mugs on he table brought my attention back and I looked at the waitress.
"Thank you," I said, a little breathlessly.

Nodding a thank-you to the waitress- and trying to hold my own composure so I wouldn't laugh at Leyna's dazed look- I picked up my mug. "Know of any good toasts?"

"Not that I can think of right now," I said with a chuckle. I was flushed and tingly in the most amazing way. I was going to be careful of how much ale I drank, I certainly didn't need it to relax.

"I can't think of one either- but maybe this will work instead," I said with a charming smile, leaning over and giving her a brief kiss before sitting back again. I swore she was driving me mad- I'd always been a charmer, but I was usually more discreet than this.

"That works very well," I said, taking a drink. It wasn't the best ale I had ever had, but it was good and much needed at the moment.
The waitress came back to our table.
"If you want to eat, we have lamb stew, Shepard's pie and roasted fish with potatoes," she said, smiling.
"I'll have the Shepard's pie," I said, suddenly hungrier than I had realized.

"Lamb stew for me please," I said with a grateful smile, taking a drink of my own ale. Maybe it would wash away the taste of her on my lips so I would have a little bit of control...
Catching her eye briefly I couldn't look away for a moment; then I smiled and didn't worry anymore. "What do you want to talk about?"

"Hmm, what do regular people talk about?" I said with a grin, hoping to find a topic that would let my blush fade. "The weather? It certainly has been a mild winter."

Images flashed of myself and her on this mild winter day, unaffected by the cold though mostly without clothing. My pulse pounded at the images and I took another drink of my ale to steady myself from the roaring in my veins and the memory of her flesh. With a bit of a glitter shining in my eyes though I fought most of it down I grinned a secret grin. "Yes, mild winters are a thing to be thankful for," I said boldly. "Hopefully there will be many more."

Oh Elua, how could conversation about the weather cause me to flush so? My pulse quickened and I had to swallow hard.
"Yes, I hope so too," I said, my voice sounding oddly low to me. I took another drink of ale hoping to find my balance again.

"I'm glad to hear you think so," I said in the same low tone. "I will have to come and see you on the next such day."
I took a long draw of my ale, hoping it would numb me to her proximity, which I was starting to feel acutely.

I was saved from having to make my mind form a reply by the arrival of our food. I smiled thanks at the waitress and took a deep breath.
The food smelled very comforting and solid, I inhaled deeply and then took a bite.
"Mmm, " I said as I swallowed. "Not as fancy as our last meal out together but very good."

I'd almost forgotten that there was food coming until it was before me and I took a bite. "It is good," I said in agreement, smiling and feeling a little less acutely on fire.

I concentrated on my food for a few moments, until my hunger was satisfied and my pulse have slowed some.
I took a drink of ale and settled back in my seat.
"What else would you like to talk about as regular people?" I asked him, chuckling.

Taking a drink of ale I smiled and replied, "Hobbies, interests, their pasts, their present; it seems like they talk about the same things, though not with the same repression or anxiousness."

I laughed.
"You hardly seem anxious or repressed," I said, grinning. "You already know most of that stuff about me. Have we already run out of things to talk about?"

"All of the polite things seem to go by quickly," I answered with a chuckle. "I don't want to be rude and ask anything terribly personal. Why don't you ask me something and I'll answer it and then I'll know what is alright to bring up in public. Though you blush very prettily," I teased.

"Thank you," I said, blushing on cue. "You can ask me anything, I may blush but I don't embarrass easily."
"I'll ask first though," I said, leaning in closer. "When did you first kiss a girl?"

Grinning, I said, "I was always stealing pecks on the cheek from girls as long as I can remember, but my first real kiss was when I was 13 years old from a girl named Francesca who was the daughter of one of my father's friends. When was your first kiss?"

"Two years ago, when I was seventeen. His name was Jayson, the son of a military friend of my father whose family had been staying with us. My father found us, he just about killed Jayson even though it had been my idea," I said with a chuckle.

"It was your idea? I never would have guessed," I said, rolling my eyes. She was younger than I'd thought. "My mother was always the over-protective one of me, assuming that all girls were out to use me. She was trying to help me, but in all it could get rather annoying. I think that's why I started sneaking out," I said with a light laugh.

"I grew up away from most things, being away from the City was a wonderful way to grow up, but it does make it a little more difficult when things such as boys began to catch my attention. Honestly, I think my father was more shocked to realize I was old enough to want to kiss a boy more than he was to find me doing it. My parents had given up on the hope of having children when my mother found out she was carrying me, and I think it reminds my father just how old he is when he sees me doing adult things," I said, smiling. "You should let me take you to meet him, you and my father would get along. As long as you don't mind long talks on military strategy that is."

"Military strategy is something I talk of often, given my work," I said lightly. "Though I think your father would kill me as well- parents always know what their children are doing, no matter how far away they are."
