With Gillermo's permission and the need to trace Danton's trail before it grew cold, I made ready to go to Siovale. Yet I still needed to tell Alayne what I'd discovered, and it felt wrong leaving without saying anything, since I had an inkling she'd gone through too many goodbyes already.
Dear Alayne,
Forgive me for not bidding you farewell in person, but a certain matter has become even more urgent. I am travelling to Siovale with a helpful gentleman and hope to return soon.
But that is not my only cause to write. I have information about Nechtan. He was a playwright, yes? My sources tell me that he returned home to Alba, the reason for which I am not entirely sure but it was under no mysterious circumstances.
I hope you are well, and that your Elua keeps you safe.

The letter came just as I started to wonder what had become of my friend. The city was under siege, and I realized she must have gone to the fire unwitting. I sighed and fretted until I told myself that none of it would do Raisa any good. Still, I penned her a letter, which I expected would get to her rather late, given the situation. I wrote back, and wasn't sure what to do, so I took the letter to the house where Raisa worked, or rather, the place where I thought she worked, since she never told me the name of her employer. I hoped that fellow de Guivre treated her nice, otherwise, I'd have to give his name to someone of my acquaintance. Raisa,
I just hope you're safe. Thanks for the sleuthing, you really didn't have to, but I'm grateful. Let me know when you're back safe, aye? Don't feel like looking for another sleuth, if you get my meaning.
Keep outta trouble,
Alayne Only after I got back home, I realized that just knowing did something for me. Heh.
