We'd marched into Carthage in force, but not to conquer. I kept ships there, a fleet, and it was to those that we went, ready to cross the sea to the land of the angels.
Our first stop was not there, however, because in my study of their lands, I imagined that they would be prepared for an incursion by sea. I avoided Marsilikos, therefore, and instead landed on a rocky bay on the very outskirts of the mountainous Euskerria. I was counting on the fact that this land would be hard to populate, and what resistance we might find would be easy to crush.
We found none, however, as I anticipated. What sheepherders survived here did not dare interrupt a marching army the size of mine, even when we killed their sheep for food, and took whatever else they had as well. Luckily, we would not be here long, for there was not much in the way of sustenance, and our supply train lagged behind as usual.
We came down from the mountain paths into the land called Siovale, sparsely populated here on its edges, though I was prepared as we made camp upon the border.
Here it was, Terre d'Ange. A land of angels and beauty that would soon belong to me. Carthage and Actaeon were a sandy waste compared to this fruitful soil and rolling green hills. Yes, this place was worthy of me, the perfect place to expand my empire. Finally, I had arrived.
