So! Here's the deal, because there's been a bit of politicking in-game, I thought I'd have to probably figure out my characters' political alignments. So posting here, if anyone wants to play. ^^
Royalty:
- Svetlana Romanova: very underdeveloped political ideas – she thinks everyone should be friends and doesn't really realize that feodal systems are very oppressive. If she did, it would break her brain. Basically, her political opinions are "Daddy knows best" and "D'Angelines should not be mean to my brothers". Er. Pretty simplistic, I know. >.>. She'd probably be the type to ask innocently, "if they don't have bread, why don't they eat cake?" Oh dear.
Nobility:
- Gillermo Stregazza: he's a democrat with a paternalistic streak – after all, La Serenissima is a republic (and he doesn't know it yet, but he's next to sit on the High Seat!) However, in Terre d'Ange and despite his D'Angeline heritage, he's also aware of his status as a foreigner and wouldn't want to get involved in D'Angeline politics, beyond taking care of his fiancee's welfare. With his slave past, though, he wouldn't stand injustice.
- Silvana de Lucca: royalist, but she has no agenda at all. As far as she sees things, things have always been the way they've been, she doesn't see why they should change, and doesn't think another system would work anyway, to put it politely.
- Jacques de Layne: royalist, mostly by loyatly to his brother, but he'd be in favor of decentralizing power through the means of a constitutional monarchy. He would insist on having a Magna Carta, a charter of freedoms, that sort of thing. Ideally, he'd want to find a way to make the monarchy in place accountable to the people, basically. This does not involve killing them and replacing them, no.
-Sébastien de Loréan: royalist, out of duty, but also because it's the way of Terre d'Ange and Elua's legacy, and he's a bit of a traditionalist. He's a soldier and a peer, he'll serve to the death, it's his destiny.
Clergy:
- Shona Tertignan: she'd probably be in favor of more social programs, would want to help peasantry, but she would never condone bloodshed. As it is, she's not really that political, now that she's lost her ambition, though she would say that Elua's scions rule by birthright, and so long as they do not commit heresy, she's fine with them being where they are.
Military:
- Armand de Louis: he doesn't care about politics. So long as he gets his pay and has fun, all is good! Woot! It must be so nice being him. By default, he'll serve the status quo, unless serving the other side is more fun, but we doubt it, he's a pretty loyalRobin Goodfellow. He does like the idea of recompensing merit, though. He'd support things like that, particularly in the military.
- Kai “Ill-Begotten” Ungewollt: per his bio: "When the war with Terre d'Ange began, part of him felt that the Skaldi had brought it upon themselves. Though he will do what he can to defend the weak, he feels passive about retaliation, and could be a weak link within the Skaldi ranks, though he tries to hide it to the best of his ability." One could understand Eirik's mode of nomination to be a crude election, which Kai is fine with, so in Terre d'Ange, he could develop democrat sympathies if exposed to the ideas, though he'd probably be a passive sympathizer and would feel a bit dispossessed of such debates.
- Astride Schevlok: Per his bio: " Born to a clan chief, Astride was destined for greatness, but when he was four his father was challenged by a younger man, and, surprisingly, he lost. Astride bears his fathers shame quietly, though he has used it to fuel his own fires since - he may have been weaker, perhaps, if it weren't for his history. Some speculate he is looking to become the chief of the clan and retake his former place, but thus far Astride hasn't shown anything for or against it, merely going through life as it is for now." His political opinions as that he should rule the world, mwa ha ha. Okay, not the world, Skaldia. Or something. So he'll support any political ideas that help him with that, er. And he's a bit of a sly snake in that respect. >.>
Commoners:
- Geraldine Grangier: she's not really political, she's really more worried about thriving and having bread on the table at the moment. She'd be distressed by the idea of potential bloodshed, though.
- Alayne Lombard: democrat, though she thinks it's not really feasible at the moment. She's loyal to the crazy pamphleteer, though, mostly out of personal sympathy, but also because she agrees with his ideas, if not the means. If/when her aristocratic birth is discovered, I'll have to see what it does to her politics.
Characters to be resurrected on the new board:
- Julie Deveroix: royalist, by habit, she's never really thought of it, though she'd be all for any sort of revolution that would give women more rights. She would however not be in favor of anything that would involve Emeric getting hurt, or Kendrick losing more body parts than he already has, thank you very much.
- Walid al-Fayed: monarchist, obviously, but of the "enlightened dictator" kind, a la Voltaire. Then again, when you're the next up for the throne, it's kind the natural position to adopt.
