“Well, you do aim high, don’t you?” I asked with a laugh.

I raised my glass to him. “May this battle be all that you are hoping it will.”

“Shoot for the stars before you land in the mud, you know how it is,” I quipped. “But thank you, cuz. I'll be thinking of you while I slash and smash.”

“I’m honored,” I said with a smile. “Perhaps I should give you something more interesting than just a conversation in a bar to think of?” Again, my eyes wandered over him.

I could feel the caress of Gabriel's eyes over my body, and made a show of leaning against the bar heedlessly.

“Hmmm, perhaps,” I replied lazily. “What manner of token do you have in mind, cuz?”

“Not one I can give you here,” I replied, my smile slipping to seductive. “It’s a more private type of token.”

“Ah, a memory etching,” I replied, and the reference amused me enough to grin. “Of course. You should probably show me those.”

Why not? Though there could always be playmates in the camp, my cousin was a prized lover, and I certainly wouldn't mind the attention. On the contrary.

“My rooms are at the palace, shall we go and I can give the token now?” I asked, setting down my glass and smiling.

I couldn't resist a smirk. “That's a two for one, then. I don't think I've ever been given any tokens in a royal setting before.”

Of course, I was willing to be led and betokened, so long as I woke on time for the morning's ride to camp.
