Dearest Maric,
I hope this letter finds you not just well and happy, but comforted from whatever hardships you undoubtedly must be facing. I hope it finds your companions hale and smiling, and I hope it brings you more joy than it gives me to write. We have not been close at all of late, and I find myself missing your smiles and your witty remarks.
There is not much of note happening in the City. It as if everything and everyone is holding their breath and looking towards Camlach, as if the leagues of hills and trees were not there, that they could see everything. Even I am guilty of it, staring out my bedroom window and wondering where you are, or what you're doing. I refuse to accept the fact that anything untoward may have happened to you, and so I know you must be at least hale.
The Princess Noemi is having a fete to try and lift the spirits of those here. I'm unsure yet if I will attend, but if I do I shall write to you of it, and annoy you with as cheerful a rendition as I can muster.
I miss you Maric. Kushiel see you safe, and returned to the City soon.
Your loving sister, Lillianne

To my beloved Sister;
Greetings from the battle field.
I wish that I had good news for you sister, I wish I could say that I will return home unscathed, but I suppose it is better then the alternative in which I don't return at all.
In battle I was wounded taking and axe to the face. It did not take my eye but is it has left an angry cut from my brow to my cheek which the chirurgeon skillfully sewed with eight stiches. I fear that only a scar will be left in it's stead and one on my soul as well.
I miss you terribly dear sister, this war is an ugly thing and I long for simple days when we share tales and jests. I hope you go to Noemi's fete, she is a friend of mine and I know you two will get on famously. Say hello to her for me.
I love you Lillianne, be well and I will see you when this war is over.
Your dearest brother Maric
