Post by Alain de Mauvais (D) on Jul 29, 2005 14:00:12 GMT -5
Name: Alain de Mauvais, Duc de Mauvais
Age: 26
Race: D'Angeline
Gender: Male
Appearance: Alain stands at just six feet tall and has a well muscled physique that is owed mostly to his passion for horses and all the time he spends on them. His hair is a medium brown that develops natural highlights in the warmer months from all his time in the sun. His eyes are a clear, deep green.
History: Alain is the only child of Duc Audric de Mauvais. Audric is the fourteenth generation Duc de Mauvais. The first Duc de Mauvais, Rene, was a direct descendant of Shemhazai who wed Lynette a direct descendant of Anael. The Mauvais' have always been a rather solitary family, usually keeping to themselves and not traveling far from their estate in Siovale. Audric was married very young to his true love, but she died of an illness only a year into their marriage and before they had any children. For decades Audric refused to even consider being with another woman. Finally, after he had reached his fiftieth year Audric realized he needed an heir for his lands and title. Wanting to ensure that his heir was of his own blood, Audric went in search of a woman to bear his child. He returned a year later with a nearly newborn babe in his arms. No one has ever known the identity of Alain's mother. Once he had secured his heir, Audric wanted nothing more to do with Alain.
Alain was raised by nursemaids, tutors, and the other servants of Audric's house. No part of Alain's education went lacking. He was a highly intelligent boy who showed a talent for numbers and languages, so he was supplied with the best of tutors. As any child would, Alain only sought to please his father with his accomplishments, but he never received any attention - good or bad - from his father. At the age of sixteen, Alain realized he would never please or displease his father, so he decided to start focusing on pleasing himself. He began taking trips to foreign lands and staying longer and longer away from his native land.
While visiting Alba he received word that his father, now seventy-seven, had started to decline in health and wanted him to return home. Unwilling to give in completely to his father, Alain purchased a town home in the City of Elua so that he could be in his homeland without being in his father's house.
Update
Alain has now taken on the title of Duc du Mauvais as his father dies of the illness that had consumed him. During Audric’s last days, Alain was there by his side and they became closer in those scant days than in all the years of Alain’s life. This has given Alain a measure of peace now and he no longer has the desire to roam from Terre d’Ange. He maintains his home in the City, while traveling to the estate to oversee things as needed.
NPC
Name: Marshall Bourrin, Steward of the Estate du Mauvais
Age: 18
Race: D'Angeline/Skaldi
Gender: Male
Appearance: Showing characteristics that no one can attribute to any relative, Marshall stands at a compact 5'5". While not bulky, he is well built and tightly muscled. He has thick, coarse blonde hair that shows his Skaldi blood, and deep blue eyes.
History: Marshall's grandmother, Ella, was the victim of rape by a Skaldi invader during the war. Ashamed to return to her family, Ella took a position in the house of a minor noble in Camlach. While working there she gave birth to Marshall's mother Rene. Ella and Rene lived a rather quiet life working in the house in Camlach. When she was 32, Rene fell in love with newly appointed Master of Horse on the estate. They were married and a year later Marshall was born.
Marshall grew up spending more time in the stables than in the classroom. Alain de Mauvais was visiting the estate and noticed how gifted the then fourteen year old Marshall was with horses. Alain spoke to the noble and then Marshall's parents and arranged for Marshall to join his employ. In the four years since Marshall has been with Alain they have become good friends. Alain trusts Marshall in a way he does no one else.
After Alain's father's death, Alain asked Marshall to begin training to be the steward of his estate. Marshall has taken to this roll with relish, seeking as always to gain Alain's respect and approval.
