Name: Daniel nó Mandrake
Title: None
Age: 24
Race (Lineage Origin): d’Angeline
Gender: Male
Height: 6ft
Home Province/Country: born in the City of Elua
Appearance:
Mischievously, they had named him the tiger of Eglantine for his colouring: skin with a tendency to bronze at the merest hint of sun, eyes the colour of Kushiel’s wings, and dark hair, flame-streaked by summer. Like his namesake, he is careless of his looks, which are typically d’Angeline, albeit d’Angeline in disorder, all rumpled clothes and ruffled hair. If asked, he would place his attractiveness entirely in his hands, which are strong, elegant and deft – musician’s hands, though not precisely beautiful.
Physically, at least, he seems atypical of his house, for he postures little, finds no weakness in courtesy and carries himself with assurance rather than arrogance. His features owe more to mirth than malice; he smiles easily and shows to advantage when he does. Despite his apparent carelessness, there is, when he chooses to show it, a predatory intensity to his gaze which belies his easy-going exterior.
Personality:
Having been largely raised by Eglantine, Daniel is an unusual Mandrake, for there is little to be seen of his darker nature in his interactions outside assignations. But in his very refusal to be anything other than as he chooses, he reveals something of the temperament that brought him to Mandrake in the first place. Privately, he misses his music and he is not quite at ease with his desires, having sacrificed so much to them. But in his heart of hearts he knows he is where he should be.
History:
The third son of a wealthy city merchant, Daniel’s passion for music was indulged from an early age. With nothing to inherit, no flare for trade, and a face that seemed to garner him no end of attention, he was soon sent to be fostered at Eglantine House. Here, he lost himself in beauty and music, and flourished, his life’s path seeming set.
However, as he grew to adolescence it soon became apparent that there was a darkness to his nature, and a hunger for cruelty that had no place in Eglantine. Despite protests that he could control it, Daniel’s marque was traded to Mandrake House a little after his thirteenth birthday.
Although he excelled in his training, he is far from a rising star in his house. He has made some progress on his Marque but, despite a handful of regular patrons, he does not go out of his way to distinguish himself, and seems rather isolated within the house itself.
