The wedding was in ten days, I had arranged for a quiet ceremony and the Queen had obliged. Though I was royal by blood I wasn't a Courcel by name and that often gave me the ability to avoid a crowd if I needed. And in this case it was very needed; I wanted Lola wed to me as soon as possible.
I called Lola to my private study knowing that she was now just unpacking the last of her trunks and would be 'settled in' so to speak. Waiting in my chair I went over the list of things I wanted to 'discuss' with her before she arrived.

My life was tumbling in a way I hadn't expected it to. When Gratien and my father began to exchange letters I prayed that my father would be able to tell that Gratien was not a good man for me nor a good man in general, but that wasn't the case. My father was in love with Gratien who was very much like a son to him now. I resigned myself to a life with a husband no better then the men that had been in Aragonia and I hoped that I might marry some one for love but now my match was political.
With my final trunk arriving from Aragonia and my trunks from the palace already packed away, I made my way to Gratien's study, getting used to the path and my new 'home'. Knocking on the door he called for me to enter, which I did and then stood in front of his desk.
