I returned to the house and begged leave of my mistress to spend the evening away from my chores and duites. It had cost me dearly though; first I submitted to Comte Lucan and his rough desires for the night, then I was given ten lashes over my buttocks for returning late from my errands. The Comtesse made sure to warn me that should I be late in the evening, I'd be forced to endure far more humiliation at her and her husband's hands.
Sore and at little tired I dressed in my gown of green and walked to the Black Boar and entered, waiting for Eric to arrive.

I too went home and took a nice long bath, filed some mail for Lessa and picked a bouquet of flowers from the garden for Alais, tying them up with ribbon. I then took the horse given to me for my duties and rode to the Black Boar. I kept a blanket on the saddle to avoid any horse hair and washed my hands just before entering. I was wearing the green outfit and I held the flowers in my hand. I then sawAlais, a little worse for wear but still as pretty as a picture and I raced over to her and smiled. “Alais! You look lovely!”

Eric came toward me holding a bouquet of flowers and I couldn't stop the grin as I saw him.
"Eric." I said and wrapped my arms around his neck when he had reached me.
"I'm so happy to see you." I embraced him firmly then pulled away to look at him.
"You look awfully handsome yourself." I added with a soft breath.

I hugged her back, giving her cheek a soft nuzzle and then a kiss. I pulled back and handed her the flowers. “For you of course.” I smiled sweetly and offered her my arm. “So what table looks good to you, Alais?” There were a couple isolated ones: one in the corner and one closer to the center. The front and most of the back were fairly full, again save for the corner.

I took the flowers with utter glee and held them to me as I looked around.
"I like the one in the corner." I said right away, I felt safer with the idea that we wouldn't be right center.
"Is that alright for you?" I asked as I held onto the flowers happily.

“That’s perfectly alright. In fact, I think that I prefer it myself.” It really was the most out of the way and would lend to the best conversation. What all we would talk about I didn’t know. I just knew that I was enjoying my time with her, a former Alyssum. We had something in common.
I led her to the table and pulled out a chair for her before sitting myself. “I don’t think I’ve ever asked, where did you come from before Alyssum, what province?”

Smiling happily I moved with him and then sat down as he pulled out the chair for me. When we were both seated I put my flowers down and turned to Eric at his question.
"Kusheth actually." I answered with a smile as I looked at the menu posted above the bar and noted the food before looking back to Eric.
"What about you?"

Her answer made me smile even wider and I answered back, “As am I! In fact my parents first thought that I should go to Valerian, but in the end it was decided that Alyssum was the place to take me.”
I glanced at the menu for a little, deciding exactly what dinner would be, my eyes occasionally flitting to Alais.
The serving girl approached us and asked for our orders. I looked to Alais first, letting her know that she could order.

"Really?" I said softly as I looked to him. I was going to ask more but the server arrived and my attention was drawn to her.
"I'll have the stew please." I said gently before I looked to Eric.

I’ll have the same,” I answered. “And a loaf of bread for the both of us.” I handed her my menu. She then asked. “And what will the two of you have to drink?” I personally didn’t know but I liked the idea of something so I left it to Alais again.

I looked from Eric to the server and nodded.
"A bottle of red for the table please." I said softly before looking back to my friend again once she was gone.
"I hope that is alright." I added shyly.

“It’s wonderful,” I told her and reached across the table to take her hand. “This day is rather wonderful in fact. I hadn’t thought that I’d be reunited -- I know we weren’t close before, back in Alyssum. But maybe that will change now.” I glanced at the table and then at her again and smiled shyly.

I held Eric's hand in return with a little content sigh as I squeezed it gently.
"I agree compltely." I said in return. "It would be nice to have a friend."
